I discovered you guys a few weeks ago, and have to say I really enjoy your content. I do not watch much on the topic, but I do enjoy Bourbon. What I have learned about bourbon from you guys is eye opening. I have to say I pulled out the entire shelf this weekend while grilling one night and my oldest son and started the tasting. My wife even became interested. What is the saying? You don't know what you don't know! I had never lined up and compared. Had a great time and really learned a lot from the experience. Now I have made a bourbon list! Lol. Thanks for the content, really enjoy watching you guys. My wife went to the liquor store with me and insisted I buy the Woodford Reserve after watching one of your vids with me. Really had a fun dinner that evening.
As a fellow noob in enjoying bourbon, I will warn you, it can spiral quickly. I ran out of shelf space and had to reorganize my 50+ bottles this weekend. It's a good problem to have. I've been more picky lately.

I'm so glad you did a review on this Makers Mark! I saw it during the live stream and was really excited to see it. I'm curious with 10 French oak staves, how much different from MM46 CS is the taste. With MM CS being 109 vs this at 111, I look forward to trying this if I can find it.
Saw a few who didn't like this bottle but that happens with most bottles and palates. Unfortunately rarely do these make it to my neck of the woods. Maybe during the holiday allocation drops got a BEP last year at that time. Big fan of MM I get their cask strength both of them. Enjoy!!
I don't have this bottle but I have some of the other "Wood finishing series" bottles. They all have that "walked into a Ric House" nose, which I love.
I was lucky enough to walk into a VA ABC allocated drop two weeks ago and this was sitting on the counter. I grabbed it up immediately. $74.99. I loved it upon opening, I’ve loved it on subsequent sips, and I’ve shared it with friends who all are fans. I’m here for it.
They have such cool names for their wood finishing and private selections. When I was at the distillery they had one called chocolate truffle, a friend of mine had one called Rice Krispie Treats, and there was one I saw called Kentucky Iced Tea.
I know some pretty good reps in Ohio and I visited the warehouse and they had stacks and stacks of the wooden slaves from wood finishing on Maker's Mark from the barrels they did through the last couple of years and they gave them all to me . I can say they have some wild looking woods cut against the grain the grain runs on an angle some woods I can't identify looks like a zebra would? Probably four different kinds of wood? Really wild and they smelled delicious they were all wrapped up in plastic good video recently picked up two of these myself
I recently purchased my first MM Private Select from the Liquor Lounge in N Myrtle Beach and it was fantastic! Note I said "was". I will go by the next time I'm there and see if he still has any or has done a new pick. I can't get 46 cask strength here in NC but that is basically what this was. He chose the staves and it was cask strength.
The Bourbon Kingdom guys didn't like it. So I was surprised to hear you guys enjoy and it's relatively well-received. I wonder what makes it off palate for them.
Great video guys, as always. Unfortunately I just find it harder and harder to care about bottles I’ll never see, have the opportunity to taste or let alone purchase
I often get cherry on Makers, particularly the French Oaked ones. I didn't get cherry on BTR-22. I haven't seen this release yet other than on Whiskey Tube.
I saw a less than stellar review of this release on another channel...I guess if I see it at MSRP I'll grab it, but not paying secondary for this. All it looks like to me is another store pick, except the 10 staves are all French oak
Just found one and if you like MM46 and MM46 CS this is the latter but just polished up to perfection. It won't shock any MM46 fans but it is just rounded out and balanced at cask strength exactly where MM46 CS hints it could be.
@@vikingsoftpaw I wonder though, when reviewers are specific about brown sugar, vanilla, caramel and butterscotch, why do most just generalize "baking spice"? Always wondered that
I found this in Total Wine last week, and it's a great bottle. I'm just a big fan of Maker's (won't lie, standard Maker's isn't my favorite, but 46, Private Selection, and other special releases I've loved a lot). Thankfully, I'm able to get Maker's Whiskey Drop, so I'll actually end up getting a 2nd bottle 😅 All in the name for Cellar Aged later this year

I saw that also. Almost passed on it but brought it anyway. Cracked it last night and the neck pour was good. Can’t wait to see how it opens up. The notes on the bottle were spot on for me.
Good for you, but this is my #1 issue with all of the bourbon videos that you get products that NOBODY else can get....I don't care about about yor tastings and reviews....The normal consumer won't see these
I think their banter is an important component of the videos, they aren't just about the specific product they're reviewing, and they often also discuss other products in similar lines that I might be more likely to see, or might be closer to my preferred price range.
You guys are a great team and I enjoy watching you... You need to slow down on the videos.. You are going to run out of things to cover and exhaust the followers. Take a breath and go to the beach. It's way too much.
HOLY SHIT went back to visit my parents and my local liquor store had it for 74.99…..immediate buy can’t wait to try it!!

That's got to end up in a blind sometime.
All there wood finishing series bottles are great
A blind between this and the MM 46CS seems to be in order since both are similar proof and finished with French oak staves
I enjoy the Heart bottle by itself more than 46CS, but when I drank them side by side the other night, I preferred 46CS. 🤷
@@nathansnyder1043 yeah, I’m probably still gonna pick one up if I see it for the $75-80 it should be cuz ya know…fomo
That was my thought is they essentially rereleased 46 cask strength.
I don’t know how this is gonna beat the MM46CS honestly, it’s so solid

Been looking for this since your review was released. Finally found it today 9/12/24. Very excited to try it !
Me too👍🏼 saw it for $150 at one store and then an hour north I found it for $100 so I grabbed one. 🥃

I got this at the distillery Friday and love it
Finally just found this bottle at Binnys in Chicagoland today! Super excited now!
Love MM cask strength and 46. Looking forward to grab a bottle of this.

They have such cool names for their wood finishing and private selections. When I was at the distillery they had one called chocolate truffle, a friend of mine had one called Rice Krispie Treats, and there was one I saw called Kentucky Iced Tea.
Nice impromptu review!
Would love to see some of Kurt's drywall work as I work for a drywall manufacturer.
Looking forward to this! And because it's Canada Day, I'll actually get to watch this within the hour!
Many cheers from Manitoba!
Great video. My only issue with so many of these bottles. I will never see them in my area. It begs me to ask the question; why do I watch then?
Just picked mine up! Total Wine had it for MSRP, and man what a pour. Loving what Maker's is doing with these series.

Nice to see a special release bourbon that is in my price range. I will definitely be keeping an eye out for this one.
The Bourbon Kingdom guys didn't like it. So I was surprised to hear you guys enjoy and it's relatively well-received. I wonder what makes it off palate for them.
It's a makers mark bottle. Hard to mess it up. It was not how the bourbon kingdom portrayed it.
Curious about this as well, obviously everyone has a different palate but BK was hating on it pretty hard haha
If BK hates it, you should buy it immediately 😂
I saw that video while sipping my bottle and was shocked at their impression. It's fantastic.
If a bottle doesn’t cost over 300 dollars, Bourbon Kingdom isn’t impressed.
Great video guys, as always. Unfortunately I just find it harder and harder to care about bottles I’ll never see, have the opportunity to taste or let alone purchase
I picked a bottle on this pass Friday, I really enjoyed this Heart Release Vol 1
Just found a bottle today, excited to try it!
Interesting session...not a Makers fan but would maybe give it another whirl....whats the over/under on Trenton touching his glasses ?
I read that’s it’s a minimum of 6 years old and the finished to taste. Glad to know they left their prices relatively the same!
Chapter 2 of a new Wood Series!
Chapter 1 of 5
Hahaha that was a good move busting out the crown

I enjoyed the BEP release so much I went and found a back up ... that was "10 American Oak Staves". Now I'm curious about the differences in profile.
Good stuff. Picking up a bottle of it in a week. 🥃

Finally found this at Total Wine for $70. Pretty good!
Name dropping the Family Express Pizza. Nice.
One of these days I’ll try a Maker’s Mark offering that I actually like.
Nice video guys. Will Dave be back when Trent is on vacation?
I have to choose between this and a Stag 24-b and I have no clue which one to pick
I get this nice dark chocolate then turns to a nice finish of baking spices.
Picked this up at Costco for $59. Tasty bottle
Nice lunch break..
If I find this one, I’ll break my buying pause to get it.
I tried it at the distillery and broke my budget as well.
How is this different from makers 46 cask strength?
I’m shocked that they haven’t had bourbon at 12:30 before. On vacation, that’s a late start.
Just picked up one at Costco for 68.99!
Just curious, you are guys are in the Hoosier state as well. What part/county?
I’d love to get my hands on a bottle of cellar aged. Everyone raves about it!!
Note everyone...see mash and drum
I just picked up a bottle of High West BIB Rye. Like it so far. Anyone else try this?
I passed on it for MSRP
Do you do drywall for a living because that’s slinging mud phrase tells me that you do
Yeah, I think he's mentioned that in some other videos, even had some people he's worked with on a stream or two.
Just picked up a bottle. Hopefully it is good. Makers isn’t my favorite distillery.
I found an Old Forester 100 proof bottle in bond from between fall 1968-1973. Let me know if its a good bottle if anyone has tried it.
I got a big chocolate bomb on this. Very unique.
Hilarious. Cheers, guys!
BEP was the last license plate release
Secondary is trending down to 110 ish
BEP is what you were looking for
For me Maker's always has a cut grass or fresh cut hay taste that is not found on the nose.
Can’t get it outside the US……
Wonder what makes this different from the Cask Strength 46 Makers?
That's what I'd like to know too.
Are you guys not on discord? Can’t find you anymore.
Dang this pick has been relatively controversial. Most reviews I’ve seen haven’t been so favorable.
Will you do a Still Austin review. Great video
One of Five? How can we ever get one? 😂
Passed this one up for $99.
when you sat "baking spice", can you be more specific? What exactly is baking spice?
Cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger & clove.
@@vikingsoftpaw I wonder though, when reviewers are specific about brown sugar, vanilla, caramel and butterscotch, why do most just generalize "baking spice"? Always wondered that
@@jw-lk1peI always figured it's either a blend of those spices or they can't distinguish. Like a pumpkin pie spice mix.
Makers Mark is good stuff
Yes, it is. I'm currently nursing a bottle of French Oaked #46. A lovely sip.

I'm seeing this on the interweb for $200. No thanks!
BEP
Good marketing strategy. But I won't fall for it. Seems like an afterthought from the cellar aged. Like a consolation prize.
