  • Today, Really Bad Puzzles makes a comeback with one of the most disappointing puzzles I have purchased in a good long while. The Cast Marble promises beautiful and elegant puzzle solving, but leaves a lot to be desired. Find out why in this video!

I'm sure there are a lot of people who would never be able to disassemble and reassemble this work of art.

My first Hanayama puzzle. It is a tricky one to solve but so enjoyable once you find the solution.

    Very nice! 😊
But maybe the fact that it's easy needn't make it a bad puzzle, I feel?
The easier Hanayama puzzles can have that effect sometimes. I don't think everyone would have got it as quick as you did.
I'm not trying to deny your feeling of disappointment, of course. 😅
I know that feeling, and there are a few puzzles I've got that I don't like for this very same reason.
I think what I'm trying to say is, a 1x1x3 is still a 'puzzle'. Just that it's "easy", not necessarily "bad".
I do agree very much that maybe the advertising (5/6???) is something that might tick people off and which really might need some looking into.
Thank you for this review, Chris! 😊
    I always enjoy your videos!

It is not a bad puzzle and especially if you start puzzling 😁.
But i get what you say and I feel the same sometimes too ^^.
I think Hanayama is not very accurate with the difficulty of their puzzles ^^

Fair point! I think I agree with you... It's not a bad puzzle, it's just an easy puzzle :) I suppose it's more of a "badly rated" puzzle, but no, not a bad puzzle! I was just mad when I made the video because they are pretty pricey puzzles and I solved it in literally less than three minutes, but I suppose that really doesn't make it bad; you're right :) Great input!

I think it's just a badly advertised puzzle.
It's not realllyyy a puzzle by some definitions and it sure as heck isn't a 5 out of 6! I could figure that out and I never do puzzles because it's one move, you'd HAVE to figure it out eventually just by playing with it for long enough and tugging on new bits after you realise the first movement doesn't work, as long as you assume that the ball movement is necessary to solving it and I'm sure you'd get to that eventually too. Now, I would still totally enjoy this! It is super satisfying and I'd like fidgeting with simple things like that but hooh mostly the 5 out of 6 advertising is what is the worst

Marble is beautiful, well-engineered, satisfying, but perhaps far too easy for the price. It uses a mechanic that has been expanded upon to greater effect. But if you want some less disappointing disassembly puzzles... well I might have a few homemade suggestions.

Hey Jared! Thanks for getting in touch! I realise I have not yet replied to your email from... 5/6 months ago? Shoot me an email if you get the time and I'd love to learn more about these homemade suggestions (so sorry for losing that email and not replying)!

Sup bro! It is a good lookn "puzzle". Maybe ur just to good. I can see some people might have a problem solving it if they dont have skills in puzzles. It did look pretty easy though. Here's a puzzle u might like. I actually made one. Only because it was easy to do and i didnt want to pay for it. Just do a UA-cam search for ( Only three parts but impossible!?- The three cubes). It wasnt that hard to solve but definitely a cool puzzle. Plus i had fun making my own.

I get where you're coming from. Solving a puzzle easily that you bought for 20 bucks or higher is indeed quite disappointing. But I guess, Hanayama puzzles target beginner solvers and collectors.

Few comments here. These puzzles are literally 10$ at any local walmart here in the US. And hanayama puzzles target all kinds of solvers. They make an obscene amount of extremely difficult puzzles as well. I own a chunk of them, and this video does not represent the brand in an accurate depiction.

I dont see the justification for this being a bad puzzle. Any puzzle has a desired solution, and everybody's intuition is different. Just because your intuition made this puzzle easy for you doesnt make it bad. Even calling this puzzle bad rubs me the wrong way. All puzzles and puzzle solvers are different. Just cause this puzzle lined up with your solving style doesnt make it bad. Extremely disappointed that you decided to include this in the bad puzzles series.

After getting further in the video, you seem to be looking at this puzzle far too linear using your experience with twisty puzzles. As a collector of both twisty puzzles and more out of the box brain teaser style puzzles such as this, some puzzles just come easy to certain people as it lines up with how they think.

    • @joecool1561

You're saying this puzzle is bad as if it is a 1x2x3. Yeah, of course it's easy if you know what you're doing. Is a 1x2x3 a good puzzle? Of course it is. Just as this is a good puzzle regardless of how easy it was for you. And to be completely honest, this rant on a puzzle and brand put out publicly like this seems extremely premature without posting anything else about the brand or their other puzzles. They have plenty and I'm 100% sure you can find ones that will challenge you. Part of the fun as a solver of these kinds of puzzles is discovering which puzzle designs you understand best and are best at solving. Your view seems like an extremely uneducated view of puzzling, which is frankly disappointing given I have loved your content until this point.

Okay... I'm sorry that you disagree with my views on this puzzle, first of all. The last thing I want to do is upset people with my content, so I'm sorry that this particular video has offended you. Let me try and explain. I am not "uneducated" in my view of solving and, having solved many puzzles over ten years of cubing/puzzling entitles me to my own opinion. I have solves tens of Hanayama puzzles (and there are many more that I haven't been able to solve yet-as noted in the video, with examples). The Really Bad Puzzles series is, and was always supposed to be, lighthearted fun-poking at puzzles that, in my opinion, are just bad. In my opinion, this puzzle IS bad. It's more of a concept of design, with the ball in the middle simply acting as a mechanism to stop the pieces from falling apart in your hands. Yes, I think about the puzzle as linear... because it is. It is a 1-move solve. I think I am entitled to the view that this was disappointingly easy for me. Other puzzles that I have covered on my channel are also disappointingly easy, and I am not afraid to say that when they are. That doesn't mean anyone who doesn't find them easy is stupid or wrong, it just means our opinions differ. In this case, you feel extremely strongly that this is a good puzzle, where I disagree. It's immature and "uneducated" of you to say you no longer like my content because of one video where the opinion of the creator differs from the viewer. Plenty of people in the comments share your view, but share it in a sensible and respectful way. I get why you're upset, but this is one video and one opinion out of millions. People will disagree with you in life... it's just something that happens and it's unavoidable. It's nothign personal against you or your views, so please don't take it personally. Again, I'm sorry this video upset you so much, but I don't know what you want me to do...

@@CanChrisSolve I understand your opinions about this puzzle, as I've had high level puzzles that were also easy for me. I think my biggest complaint is the use of the word "bad" and the association with the other truly bad puzzles in this series. This is a less involved gimmicky solution, yes. But comparatively to the other puzzles of this series, labeling this as a bad puzzle seems unfair. That's where my biggest complaint with this video stems from. And I am definitely not going to stop watching because of one video I dislike of yours. I love your content chris. This specific video just doesnt make sense in this series to me. Maybe it fits into an "easy" or "simple" series. But compared to the other puzzles in this series it truly doesnt fit.
