Great start. I knew a hotshot like you JH would have a smoking hot Mrs. 😉 I see the big Brent bins Larson farms have carry fire prevention tanks on em. Quite a smart idea to. Thanks for your time and effort. Ps of course Case IH don't think of the operator when they build equipment.
Watching this brought back some good memories we were in oz for my brothers wedding in 2013 so stayed for a year, i done sending in lakeking w/a and went back for harvest some good memories was an unreal experience
Great video mate! I really liked that. It explained allot and has actually inspired me to consider this. Good clear footage with carefully thought out explanations..
Fantastic update JH. All very impressive and look’s well organised and planned. Looks like your apprentice chaser bin driver has nailed it. Great to see how the bagging works.

Went for a drive not so long ago, Brookton thru to Shackleton ,north to Gold fields highway then back to Perth via Merredin and all the side roads in between, the amount of grain we saw stored was huge, still see trucks everyday hauling the stuff, how will we ever move all of this when you've just started harvesting again ? .
Hey mate. Love your videos! I am in Kalgoorlie and have always loved farming but never had the chance to experience it. If possible would love to visit your farm
watched a heap of farming videos ,and i have to say and commend you for your style and presentation .you just tell it like it is , no "talking up" like some of our cousins can get carried away with. first time i've seen 100 ton saucers .you're a good operator .. a pleasure and informative to watch. have you had those header augers lengthened ? .they're bloody long . do you get any cracks in them from the extra wgt ? how many tons in those 75 metre bags. what's with the flags on the header augers ? just with the dust, you probably blow your air filters out each day .just on that saw a great "special tool" /thingemejig for blowing out filters from the states . it reversed with air from the inside out .with a apparatus that fitted over the top of the air filter . gee it moved some dirt .it's on this vid from laurafarms at 10.00/13.22 One Year of Owning A John Deere Tractor ua-cam.com/video/dgUYDTbpDqU/v-deo.html
Thanks for the kind words, I'm glad that you are enjoying how I try to get the videos across. Yes the augers have been lengthened to get out to our trams. Haven't had any issue with weight or cracking. In the bags it's hard to tell how many tons we are getting in as it depends on the break pressure that you use. But we roughly go off 180t for barley and 220t for Wheat. The flags are on the augers so that the chaser drivers know which header needs unloading, as the headers are both the same you can't tell them apart from a distance but the flag makes a huge difference. And yer we are blowing the air filters out quite regularly as there is a loooot of dust
Hi all I’ve just started watching the channel are you guys anywhere near Bruce Rock? I use to fly out from the uk to do the seeding and then back again for the harvest for a few years back in the 90s.
Great to see thing rolling I watch BorderViewFarms in Michigan and your channel and it weird watching the differences and similarities in your operations
The lack of fire appliances on overseas farm videos has surprised me. I assume their environment and weather means its simply not required. Here in Australia EVERY farm from the smallest to the biggest has a fire fighting vehicle. It might only be a slip on 500 litre on tank for the summer but everyone has something. You would never cut hay or harvest without some kind of firefighting appliance close handy.
Where is your John Deere equipment manufactured? In Australia, in the United States, or somewhere else it’s interesting. Your steering wheels on the trucks are on the right hand side and your auger on the chaser is on the right hand side, where all the augers in the United States are on the left-hand side.
Yep the extension is home made. We couldn't quite reach the middle of the chaser so had to extend it just a bit. Its just a bit of old draper mat bolted on with a zip tie on top to hold the shape!
So that the chaser driver know who is who. As the headers are the exact same you can't tell which header driver is talking to you, so having the flags makes it nice and easy to know which header you are meant to be going to
John Deere auto steer requires a minimum speed to activate gps. I think it’s around 3km/h. We do load the bag with out someone in it, it’s pretty good at staying straight if the chaser driver makes sure of before they start h loading
There's no real reason to, the hopper is big enough and the chaser go fine when unloading into it. We did make it higher though as you can see by the tin on the sides as it was very hard for them to line up when the grain was travelling such a distance and also when there was wind you couldn't unload into the bag
Hi, just wondering how much does each harvester hold in their grain bin? How many unloads from harvester to chaser bin until chaser bin ready to unload?
Can be 10T or more depending on the model of headder and as for chasers that would depend on the size of them as well often 2 loads for the 25T to fill but all comes down to size and models. The GT30 i would be a 30T chaser. I could be wrong but that's a rough estimate from working with Claas and not JD I'd guess 10-15T cap on the grain bin
Yer we will be all wrapped up before Christmas! But it depends on the season and how well it's doing. If we get a lot of rain and we are always stopped then it takes a lot longer!
we have around 320t of barley storage in our field bins. If the truck can't keep up then we use the silo bags so that we are able to keep harvesting. We will try and harvest as much as we can to one sight before moving. In this case 410ha but in other case it is around 700ha but is depends on what crop we are harvesting and how well it is yielding
Hi, I'm from Germany. I would like to work in Australia but I'm only 16. How old do you have to be to work in agriculture in Australia? do you know that?
Dealing with snow is so foreign to me!! I love the snow and going snow boarding (only done it 3 times) But living and farming with it would be a challenge!
As a old lady who retired from farmer, this is a wonderful update on life on the land. We had a 4 ton truck to get our grain to the silo!!😅
You did our entire harvest in a day lol.
Great job driving the tractor and chaser bin Annabelle
Great job driving the tractor and chaser bin JH
Good luck combining your 2023 crops JH

Great job driving the combines guys
Interesting insight into the chaser bin role.
I'm applying to get involved in chaser bin positions for this years harvest.
Thanks mate.
Best of luck!
@@tomsbrookfarm thanks mate. 👍
I’d be keen to chat if you guys are looking for chaser bin drivers. 👍

Flying the All Blacks flag 99% chance harvest will go well 😊 , and a thumbs up👍 mighty fine.
Happy days ahead.
Hope your harvest goes well mate. Thanks for all your work. The Ole Fella Greg.💝
Thanks JH for the informative video - great to see how harvest is done in another part of Australia

brill video, so organised, professional and fun - loved the cool look at camera from the new chaser driver!

What about a tillage tool in the field for fires?
Great Video I see what you mean by dust, here in Ireland it is very wet at the moment .

was 31 degress here today in North Queensland, humidity was average. I can imagine the heat over there.

Yer it blows me away that we are nearly harvesting at the same time!
The lack of fire appliances on overseas farm videos has surprised me. I assume their environment and weather means its simply not required. If you use a front end loader on the bagger, and fill your bucket to keep weight on the front does it run straighter?

Show a close up of your auger extender rubbers. Home made?
Look factory to me , but good :)
Yep the extension is home made. We couldn't quite reach the middle of the chaser so had to extend it just a bit.

Can you please explain your numbering system on the bins ?
Its just so we know what bin has what moisture, if they had no names would be very hard to tell the chaser drivers what bins to go in
Hi young bloke, the flags on the header arms, are they there for any particular reason? Or just because?
So that the chaser driver know who is who. As the headers are the exact same you can't tell which header driver is talking to you, so having the flags makes it nice and easy to know which header you are meant to be going to

Excellent. Would autosteer on Bluey free up a driver from the bagging job?
John Deere auto steer requires a minimum speed to activate gps. I think it’s around 3km/h. We do load the bag with out someone in it, it’s pretty good at staying straight if the chaser driver makes sure of before they start h loading
Fun to watch. Looks like farming in Montana, USA.
Are you growing a type of winter wheat or barley?
Thks
Yes so the we grow two types of barely - Rosalind and Cyclops and wheat we grow Sceptre
I like the gap between your combs and chaser bins see them a lot closer, just curious who controlled the speed chaser or header.😊
The header sets the pace and the chaser matches.
You stop to eat?! That’s what AutoSteer is for, so you can eat and keep moving 😅
hi mate, why dont you make the inlet for the bagger longer from front to back for ease of unloading the chaser bin?
There's no real reason to, the hopper is big enough and the chaser go fine when unloading into it. We did make it higher though as you can see by the tin on the sides as it was very hard for them to line up when the grain was travelling such a distance and also when there was wind you couldn't unload into the bag
Just found your channel ! I am not a farmer and I am in NSW but love your video ! Are fires a common occurrence over there during harvest ??
They are, sometimes they are from the harvest operation but sometimes they are from lighting strikes!
wish i was you i lice in a little farm down in vic
How often does the combine get a blow out or clean out during harvest to stop the f word ....fire
Hi, just wondering how much does each harvester hold in their grain bin? How many unloads from harvester to chaser bin until chaser bin ready to unload?

Hi JH, For a non farmer this has been fascinating. When do you sleep during harvest? and is Summers still coming?
Thanks for the feedback!!!
Sleep when we can haha and summer is on the horizon! But we are still dealing with this spring weather!
Wow. Full on. Day one. How long do you reckon? Finish by Christmas?
Yer we will be all wrapped up before Christmas! But it depends on the season and how well it's doing. If we get a lot of rain and we are always stopped then it takes a lot longer!
great to see youre going !! what speed are you harvesting at JH ?
It depends on the crop and how well its yielding and feeding into the header, but the guys are getting along at around 10km/h
yes of course, looks good !! @@tomsbrookfarm
How many hectares can you cut and feed to that bin sight before needing to move?

How many tons per hectare, looks like a good crop
Getting round the high 2's
Are you sure that it's not Tom Brook's farm?
very sure
You know he’s in WA when he says that 37 is warm
Tell me your under 30 years old without telling me:
“The headers have always had autosteer” 🤣
Hi, I'm from Germany. I would like to work in Australia but I'm only 16. How old do you have to be to work in agriculture in Australia?
do you know that?
How do you empty the bags ??
Stay tuned to fine out! We have a bag unloader that hooks on and winds itself in whilst unloading the grain into the chaser bin
What is it yielding?
High 2’s so very happy for the year
I guess the american viewers still harvesting will be slightly jealous of 11% moisture...
haha yer they would love our "wet" grain moisture!
Yep. Have problems getting below 14% for the most part. Done around here. Got over a foot of snow last couple of days. @@tomsbrookfarm
Dealing with snow is so foreign to me!! I love the snow and going snow boarding (only done it 3 times) But living and farming with it would be a challenge!
why do you run so many field bins if your just going to bag it
We use bags because we run out of storage with the field bins
