What I want more than anything is a proper Paper Mario 4. Overworld & battle formula of the first 2 games, but with SPM acknowledged and referenced as canon the way it did for its predecessors. A fourth iteration of the Merlon clan, appearances of Whacka, Kammy Koopa, and unique enemies like Clefts. Basically just what everyone thought the next game would be before we got Sticker Star. Something that restores every single tradition that was killed off in SS. (I know Kammy wasn't in SPM, but I doubt that's because of her being retconned, it was definitely SS that did that)
I think they will make a completely original Paper Mario game for the 40th anniversary of Super Mario Bros.. There could be remakes of Paper Mario, Super Paper Mario, Paper Mario: Sticker Star, and Paper Mario: Color Splash in 2024, of which I'm up for.

I think it is more likely to see a true sequel to SMRPG at this point than a true new classic Paper Mario.
