    F BAR CHORD!! Oops… that didn’t sound right…
I meant to say “THE” F bar chord 😅 It’s something else, am I right? Arguably the toughest chord to play if you’re somewhat new to guitar.
I’d also argue that it happens to be the type of chord with the toughest consensus on how to spell it! I mean I’ve seen “bar”, “barre”, and “barr”… and those are all from Wikipedia!
However you choose to spell it, in this video I’m gonna show you how to play the F bar chord in the EASIEST way possible! Consider this a bar chords explained video.
When it comes to guitar bar chords, the F bar chord is easily the most challenging. But my bar chord tips that I share in this video will have you playing the F bar chord with ease. This will be the only bar chords guitar lesson you need to finally conquer that F bar chord.
I’ll show you some sneaky ways to play the F bar chord without having to kill your whole fretting hand right away. Plus it will allow you to quickly and effectively work your way up to playing the full F bar chord.
Once you slay that dragon using my bar chord tips, most others will be no match for your power over guitar bar chords!
I also show you how the F bar chord is really just a chord shape that happens to be in the position that makes it in the key of “F”. All guitar bar chords are, are shapes that are moved and played in different positions on your fretboard. When you take the bar chord shape to a new fret, you have a new bar chord. Pretty cool huh?

Honestly, I could never do barre chords until I took the Barre chord mastery course from GMM. I recommend it.

Thanks Eddie. I guess I'm weird. I can play the Full F barre chord, easier than I can play the open version. Somehow, barring the E and B string with my index finger while forming the rest of the open F, doesn't always turn out very clean for me. My F barre chord usually sounds pretty clean. Maybe I'm just lucky! Thanks again!

Eddie, you are the MAN!!! And you're absolutely right about the "F" in the "F-Barre Chord". My Dad is right about you - you're the greatest. As always, we love you like a brother. Keep up the great work!!!

I remember when i thought that barre chords were impossible, and i thought that there was no way im gonna be able to do this. Now, at my age hahaha old timer, i can do all the barre chords with relative ease, very little trouble with them as long as its not for very long, i still get pain when practicing these, but ive learned that you need to warmup first. Thanks Eddie, you rock my friend.😉

As an oldie I wish I had this, I had to find this stuff out on my own. The Bert Weedon book play in day. Did not cover anything really but I could play 'She'l be coming round the mountain when she comes'. Ha Ha. Bar chords are a major breakthrough on guitar, I learned the lower bar chords ie on the bottom 4 strings and it gave a much higher sounding F and it is movable. Learn that and a 1000 songs at your disposal. A good video.

Eddie, thank you SO much! (I've never been able to form effective barre chords in over 40 years of failing to learn to play the guitar). I received Charlie's "Crab claw" video two days ago - putting that together with your mention of it and with your simple clear method of forming the "F" chord in incremental stages - always in my experience the most difficult of all chords; and in a matter of MINUTES I'm not only producing good ringing "F" Barrre chords, I'm moving the same shape up and down the neck and playing all manner of other barre chords - I just need to sit down next and work out what is where now! A big obstacle overcome for me. You guys really are the best! Definitely one to practice every day now.

Thanks for the lesson Eddy! Barre chords also make it much easier to transition into lead or fill riffs as your hand is already in the right position!

Great stuff as usual. Your 6 Week Rhythm & Lead has got me using BARRE chords - still a bit laboured but getting better with practice.

I've very much enjoyed your lessons and tips, Eddie. I'm playing lightly right now - overdid it and hurt my hand. Interestingly, the Barr chord was the first thing I learned when I was a drummer. My best friend wanted to play one song on the drums - so we exchanged instruments and basic tenets - was a very simple song. That was the best thing that every happened to me since it brought me to the instrument I really enjoy playing alone. I'm no longer in a band. Eddie just sent an email about learning music theory. I think it's very important. I took lessons on drums for 2 years - rudiments, reading, exercises... Since I feel I was somewhat trained? I found it a bit condescending with a joke some expressed: what's the definition of a drummer? "A person who hangs out with musicians" One thing I've learned from Eddie that's very contagious: humility.

Love your lessons, Eddie. Can you do something similar for the ‘thumb over’ Hendrix/SRV-type fingering? Seems impossible! Would be much appreciated.

The pinch method is helping me with my F barre chord on my acoustic electric and my other electric guitars bcuz it’s a little harder on those. On my new Jackson it’s easier to play but I still have days where it’s evil incarnate!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Another great lesson Eddie! My issue is trying to barre the first two strings (B & E) only with my index finger when trying to do the open F chord (or mini-barre as you called it)....

Great lecture. But I face more problem when I try to actually play A# or similar chords with bar. I find it difficult to maintain a proper gap between the two sets of fingers and my barring finger move over in the intermediate fret.

You guys have such an advantage having strong hands, it’s hard to imagine a female learning playing barre chords! It’s bad enuf that I have to get rid of my beautiful long nails each time I pick the guitar up, let alone figure out how to get my hands strong enuf! Maybe on an electric guitar, but acoustic!? Better forget these barre chords n get back to my piano!
