I just did the same to my hair 3 days ago and am happy I did. My hair just needed some life because the shrinkage just made my hair look like it was not growing at all. My curl pattern is much looser and more manageable.
@Faith Nope, I’ve been trying to regrow my hair because it breaking and am also consider doing a big chop. Don’t get me wrong, I have had my hair texturized before professional and it was beautiful but this time I had it done on my own and it was a disaster.
Don’t feel ashamed ladies. People who have no idea what we go through love to tell us what to do with our hair! Do what u want with YOUR HAIR we only live once!!❤️
Beautiful results but to anyone wanting to try this be cautious. Don’t look for miracles in texturizer boxes. Her hair was clearly thick, strong, tightly coiled, and HEALTHY before. So if your hair is not similar or at least in a healthy state your results will NOT be the same okkkk!!! Also you might want to tweak the application process for what works for you. Pre-parted sections, tools, and pretreatment products matter ladies. Hope this helps a sis out.
I know this video is a year old but I want sincerely thank you!! I have 4c hair and I am researching texturizing videos because I'm doing one this weekend! I can't take it anymore! I'm so ready to not have to spend hours and hours on washdays.
I did it yesterday, because of her video and I lovee the results! I used the same exact one that she used and timed it according to the box instructions. I almost cried at how the results were, I was so excited!
I’m sold lmao getting mine today! I LOVE my curls and it’s not the texture of my hair that’s the problem, ITS THE SHRINKAGE that I CANNOT deal with. None of my natural hairstyles last and or come out cute because of the shrinking. I. Am. Done. 😂
Beautiful! I’m about to do my touch up this weekend. Natural hair is great and can be a lot of work. I’m older and very busy so I need my hair to be put together quickly. Texturizer allows me to manage my hair better and still keep the curls.
I think I’m going to do this. I noticed I retained more length when I had a texturizer long ago. But I’ve gone natural and my hair has been the same length for years. It’s time to make a change.
My hair looks exactly like how yours looked after the texturizer and I absolutely cannot stand my curls. I wish they were bigger curls or at least didn’t shrink so much. I never put any texturizing chemicals in my hair before and I’m so tempted.
My friend just told me about this.. but I don’t wanna damage my hair again! But my 4c hair is so hard to comb & detangle it’s annoying that’s why I keep it in long weave braids
You can always try a test strand, if you’re not satisfied then it’s not for you. You can also do the test strand & wear it for a week or two like usually moisturizing etc & see how it turns out.
I like that look bcuz it still looks natural. Like you didn’t do anything to it, but it lays down and swings. Is there something you have to put on it everyday to maintain it?
Yes that is true, we all have different curl patterns so it will turn out different for some, it always depends on how long you leave the texturizer in as well.
Damn, your natural hair gorgeous. Good job on the successful texturizing. Maybe more girls should start on a twistout to get those curls set as the looosened texture. Too many girls start with blown out/straightened hair.
I texturised my hair 3 days ago with easy waves and put into twists the next day, it look n feels great I should say, I love how I could easily comb my hair without any pain
I have 4a hair so a texturize would probably just leave my hair stringy. I just wish there was something to change my texture but leave my curl dimension. Nevertheless, your results look great.
Thank you, it could probably work for but you would maybe have to keep it in your hair for a shorter period of time & watch it or maybe they have weaker strength ones.
*A texturizer is the SAME chemical as a relaxer.* It does not define curls, it loosens (relaxes) whatever curl you already have How much it loosens depends on your hair. .how it takes and how much it is smoothed in and left on. (For marketing purposes the box says 'Texturizer', but again, it's the same CHEMICAL as a relaxer.. Same thing. You can loosen OR straighten (completely loosen) your hair with a 'Texturizer'; and vice versa-with a box labeled 'Relaxer'.)
Also, if ur gonna do this do not apply it at the root area first as she did in the vid. That's not the proper application for this chemical. Midshaft first..then roots and ends. *NEVER apply at the roots first.*
omg😱😍😍 ur hair before the texturized is like amazingly healthy looking and so bouncy its sooo beautiful. I havent even gotten thru the video because I csbt stop looking at it🤦🏽♀️😂😂♥️I wish my natural hair was like that you must really take care of it .
thank you!!❤ so basic tho.. r u sure??lol. I need to do that! its literally so healthy looking Idk how else to describe it...like that's how every1 hair would look if i chose the standard of beauty on God✋🏽 it looks good now as well..hope it's easier to do for you❤
Yes you have to be basic about it, high manipulation can cause breakage. I do protective styles & moisturize properly. Yes it’s a lil easier to manage now but I still have some thickness/body which is good.
I love my thick hair but when it time to take care of it mannn my hair eat up every single product I’ve bought !!! All those co washing techniques and curling products do NOTHING for my hair….. I’m getting a texturizer! Thanks sis ❤️💅🏾
I’m getting one this weekend for the same reason, my hair is short but literally eats all the products and still is tight after that so I little curl dimension. Would you mind sharing how yours came out? Thank you!
ok but lets be clear, because I hate you even have to say that as a disclaimer. let's say someone does hate their hair.... it's sad and unfortunate but it happens. Whatever they are trying to do to even like their hair is fine. Let's be honest holding this standard and expectation that people have to love whats been naturally passed down to them can be toxic, especially when society tells them what they have is undesireable. We should be supportive . I personally cringe at women relaxing their hair, because of all the special unique traits that come with being natural, that are lost when relaxed BUT I understand multiple reasons for those decisions, and they are VALID. The only time issue should be taken is when people pit their insecurities on someone else, " 4c hair is knappy and unmanageable and no one should be walking around looking like they slapped a brillo pad on their head" damn that was harsh... but I've heard that sentiment so many times before.
i wonder how this would work for me if i only did it on half of my head. we have similar hair but the back of my head shrinks ALOT its annoying because the front and crown is like your after.... much less shrinkage.
Because I stretch my retouching sessions so when I’m ready to retouch I can see and feel the different texture of my hair. All my other retouch videos after far apart. Check them out to see how I did it.
I, sitting here trying to derange my type 4 hair and I’m convinced that this in not the life for my. Gonna check my beauty supply store for texturizer caz I can’t continue like this.
I am indefinite need of this. I don't hate my hair pattern anymore I used to but I don't hate it anymore but I'm getting tired of my arms hurting I'm getting tired of the shrinkage I'm getting tired of the nodding and the breakage I'm just not into struggle and for type hair is just a struggle to manage that's why it's not considered quote unquote good hair because it takes too much to prep and that's just being honest there's nothing wrong with the hair but it's hard to manage just like certain things in life are just hard to manage
@Hard Choices Official wearing protective styles for 10 plus years but my hair is so thick and it is very drying my hair doesn't retain moisture or create natural moisture like some of the looser textures does so I've been doing the protective styles like wigs crochet braids box braids etc I'm about to get a relaxer though lol I don't have enough moisture to justify continuing going natural when you get a relaxer a relaxer opens up the hair molecule so that you can retain moisture better and that is how my hair grew the fastest back when I was getting relaxers when I was a kid because my hair was better moisturize under a relaxer than it is in its natural state it's natural state is too drying to grow as fast as it should
I love the curls it gave I want to do this to my hair I done the big chop lastnight and I was wondering will it make my short hair curly?? Answers anyone or can someone direct me to a curl kit for natural hair
It will only elongate your curls. So you might see a little length but nothing too drastic. I’m not sure about the other brands of texturizer but the one I used is in my Amazon storefront.
Yes the time affects it, the longer you wait the higher the chance for it to be straight. So I advise you follow the time instructions in the box based on your hair density or just watch it and rinse it when you’re satisfied I guess.
I have been thinking about doing this but someone told me you cant flatiron your hair after you get a texturized because it will fall out is this true?
There is a growing out phase, you get new growth just like a relaxer which also depends on how quickly your hair grows. Which you then would touch up with the texturizer just like a relaxer. I don't recommend doing a touch up too often.
No I’m not. But it’s harder for you to find it there so I found it on Amazon; it’s on my storefront under the “Hair” category www.amazon.com/shop/byshello
I want to texlax my hair so bad I have type 4c hair and it’s a struggle to comb it out every single day I want to soften my curls but my mom is afraid that it would be like a relaxer .
Just continue to watch videos and compare each; like their results, how they did theirs and how long they made it stay in. I had mine in between 8-10mins. The longer it stays in the more risk there is for it to be stringy. Also get the right texturizer, I suggest one that is for normal hair or even you could try the one I used. If you get a super or w/e it will be too strong and will probably not give you enough time. Also watch my video on what you need to know before texturizing your hair, I explain alot! I hope this helps! Good luck!
Hello! I have full wash day routine with all the products I use. I use them on wash day only, my hair stays moisturized for 2 weeks until I wash again.
I can only tell you about the one I use but I think it does matter cuz they are all different. Everything I used came in the box, the first product was like a prep moisturizer.
I wanna do one too, only thing is I don't have the African pride one, I have the Luster's SCurl texturizer, is that the same as the African Pride its just made by Luster's?
My hair strands are really fine. It looks like yours after the process. I wonder if this will help with the shrinkage? I don’t want to have to use curl activator. I use leave in conditioner and moisturizer. Will that do? You did a great job..looks good.🙂
Thank you! If your hair is fine then I don’t suggest you do this, it’s only gonna get finer. Stick to your leave in & moisturizer and maybe a light gel or curl cream. Nothing that will weigh your hair down.
Check out my playlist, ua-cam.com/play/PLRqPXs5Kczk8NEgIRqOlU4nSPl6Q_wWIP.html I talk about everything to prepare and care for your texturized hair and also how to avoid this.
It last for as long as you want it to tbh. Remember once it’s texturized, it’s permanent so the new growth isn’t. I don’t do it every month to avoid over processing.
I. Am. So. Tempted...
Do what you think is best for your you & your hair 😊
Im tempted too😂
I did it and love it 🤦🏾♀️. I used ors lye in normal for 12:30. It's like my texture (4b ringlets) but without the shrinkage 👀.

How long do you wait till you texturize again?
My last one touch up was 1 month ago. Also filmed that. I stretch it for as long as possible, no set time.
I wanna do one too, only thing is I don't have the African pride one, I have the Luster's SCurl texturizer, is that the same as the African Pride its just made by Luster's?
No the luster’s is a different brand and product

My hair strands are really fine. It looks like yours after the process. I wonder if this will help with the shrinkage? I don’t want to have to use curl activator. I use leave in conditioner and moisturizer. Will that do? You did a great job..looks good.🙂
Thank you! If your hair is fine then I don’t suggest you do this, it’s only gonna get finer. Stick to your leave in & moisturizer and maybe a light gel or curl cream. Nothing that will weigh your hair down.
How to stop ends from stringy look and how long did you leave it on your hair? (The Tex lax chemicals)
Check out my playlist, ua-cam.com/play/PLRqPXs5Kczk8NEgIRqOlU4nSPl6Q_wWIP.html I talk about everything to prepare and care for your texturized hair and also how to avoid this.
I need to see it when it was dry it is the real final result 🙏
Great video, where did you purchase this from?
Thank you, my location beauty supply store.
I’m doing it today no holding bck
did you do it!
Any update sis?
Yes I have multiple. Check out my texturizer playlist.
Hi love ! How long does this last do you touch it up every month ?
It last for as long as you want it to tbh. Remember once it’s texturized, it’s permanent so the new growth isn’t. I don’t do it every month to avoid over processing.
@@ByShello Makes sense ok, Thank you !
I’m going to texurize my hair today how long did it take?
I don’t remember how long it took. But I mentioned it in the video.
I’m sooooo tempted to do this
I feel like redoing the roots every month would be annoying?
You’re not recommended to do that every month. Check out the rest of my videos or my texturized hair playlist.
