- Can you turn a 100 year old milling machine to a useful CNC mill? Let's find out!
My dad bought this machine from a junkyard in the 60s. It's probably around 100 years old by now. I wanted a CNC machine, but buying one was lame, so i figured i'd convert this mill. This project took some time, but i had to finish it since I need it for my work. I like the mix between the old cast iron frame and the modern stepper motors.
Whats with the rap music? Well, the youtube audio library has a ton of bad music to choose from. But i found one great artist called NEFFEX who has made his music free to use. The playlist is as follows:
No filter - NEFFEX
Tough - NEFFEX
Go Down Swinging - NEFFEX
it's only woth it if you work for it - NEFFEX
No turning back - NEFFEX
Enough - NEFFEX
Back to the future - Ofshane
Very awesome job looks good operate super well. And your playlist was awesome.👍👍
You are quite the engineer... for a scientist :)
Although not. Restoration but a conversion and mod, the end result is awesome and proves it’s cheaper when you know how to do it, comparatively.
For a scientist you’re an awesome machinist.
My partner was watching your video while I was rocking away to the music. Great work 👏🏽 👍 awesome play list 😊
Awesome! Thank you!
That's pretty neat.

Very Nice!!! Thanks for the video
Incredible work and video…
Very cool
very cool
Thanks :)
"My ancestors smiling at me from the sk... oh wait, I'm not on the sky yet"
great job
That's great man🔥👏👏👏👏
Thanks 🔥
Great factory, means of production are the essential human right.
Magnetic swarf remover they sell for 77, you can probably invent a static one for less.
Do you know the reason why they deleted the Campbell video? Feel bad for you, that was brilliantly made.
medical misinformation. It can be found here: odysee.com/@RogueScientist:c
@@Rogue-Scientist Thanks bra. Did it hit over 300k? Kinda amazing it hit the rounds so fast. Wouldn't really expect those numbers for something so.. you know.
Hi ... Wich is the brand of the machine originaly?
I have no clue. It was really old and my dad bought it from a junkyard in the 1960s
be an idea to make a bunch of plugs to cover all them old holes...
seems.. slightly overkill? lot of weight to shift for that tiny little cutter. i was loving it (muted) until that head went on. CNC... just interchange Y and Z... its only awkward to side mill when doing it manual... better chip clearing...
looks like it would happily take a 2hp and chew through metal again like the green one you were using... i know i wouldnt be happy with a high speed router. then you can still shove an arbor in and run slabs... does anyone slab mill anymore? had a job a few weeks back where it would have been ideal to gang cutters.
didnt see it being scraped... big thing with an old cast iron dovetail...
loco!!! put the second colon for better stability
Cool project, would love to finish but the music makes me want to drink soy.
You control your volume
Magnetic swarf tool won't work on aluminum.
Great work - shame about the music
One thing is for sure.. I like Ofshane much more than that neffex guy.
Why?
@@Praise-Jesus00 just a personal preference and recommendation not to use such commonly disliked genre, even though I suspect it's more fun to work with it on the background.
@@mahead I guess we prefer differently, I thought the music had a nice 90s Offspring vibe
The music is very off putting.
👎👎👎
Can't watch this.
You don't like milling machines?
@@Praise-Jesus00 Looks like a great project. Can't take the music and style of the video.
Very cool.
