There was a heartbreaking story in Canada, where a woman, who had two pitbull dogs since they were puppies, and raised them with love and care. She was also a babysitter. One day her dogs killed the baby she was taking care of. Just ripped him from her arms. The story I saw about it ended with her saying; no not all pitbulls will attack. But until you can tell me which ones will, and which ones won't. They should be banned. And I couldn't agree more

Why has nobody defined the definition of "pitbull? The British PM intends to ban all American Bully XL dogs by the end of the year and these are truly dangerous. But it seems that my seniors building in Toronto, Canada is being used as an experimental and breeding station building for these. The owner of several of these dogs, who is very antagonistic towards me, has allowed them to jump all over me several times, but I was never bitten. I believe the dogs did not bite me because they could sense no fear from me. Or, was I just lucky?

I worked in a county shelter and I remember at least 5 pitbulls who were brought in to be euthanized because they mauled or killed people, including two children under six. The county coroner had to pick up the euthanized pits so they could be cut open to retrieve a child's body parts. And guess what? The shelter still adopted out pitbulls to families. Sometimes the pits would get into fights in the kennels and a water hose, being hit in the head with hard object, pepper spray, would not break up the fight. I only lasted there for 9 months before I got fed up.
I've noticed a pattern in the people advocating for pitbulls: criminals and tatted up leftwing childless adults. They project their victimhood mentality on these vicious dogs.

Unfortunately, there is a certain demographic that is over represented in owning pit bulls. What's more, as was shown by the Michael Vick case, this certain demographic also continues the tradition of dog fighting and breeding pitbulls for dog fighting. So on top of everything else, the sort of people who defend pitbulls, even if they're proud of their dog for ripping out another dog's throat last weekend, are also the sort of people that like to cry racism when they're caught running out of Target with a stack of free sneakers.

He speaks the honest truth here, totally. Most pit bull owners are very ignorant people. They like living risky and that's okay but they shouldn't risk other people and their property with their decisions. I don't think many of them actually know different breeds of dogs very well, that's why they don't know the difference between breeds. Some claim that they do but often they're pretty young people and there's no way they could know this in the time they've been alive.

I completely agree, there are reasons why pitties attack just like any other dog is because mainly how the owner treats it or if inbreeding happens thats how a dog becomes messed up. People don't have a right to be in this conversation unless they actually had the breed itself, its like a rumor. Don't just assume until you met the breed itself and had one on one time with it. Literally there are many many many pitbulls out there because people don't wanna give them a chance, I literally sleep perfectly fine with my sisters pitbull Max in the same bed as me. The main reason for bad pit bulls and bad dogs in general is bad ownership. Pit bulls are harder to own than labs. Not because they’re bad dogs, they just take more effort than some other breeds. Owning a pit bull isn’t risky, at least not if you know what you’re doing

People stop by to pop off with out hearing what the man has to say. Stop a moment to think. Ken Phillips is an attorney for attacked by dogs and has been doing it since the 1990's. The man makes his living off of dog bites, so he has first hand knowledge of what happens with them. At some point people have got to have respect for the man saying what he is observing is dangerous, even though that stance is not conducive to him earning a living.
Thank you Rover's Morning Glory and the radio station, along with Mr. Phillips in allowing this message to go out.

    • @waterboxes8534
      @waterboxes8534 6 років тому +2

No. What he is saying is purely biased and ignorantly flawed logic based. He's not a dog expert. Look what you said; "He deals with dog bites at a Law Firm." That is like taking one side of a graph, and ignoring the rest of information on a graph.
Dog trainers like Caesar Millan, and many others (animal behaviorists) and veterinarians have proven Pit Bulls are perfectly fine. Of course he is going to have a large variety case of Pit Bull attacks, because most people who own Pit Bulls only want them because of their bad stigma ("Oh, they'll fuck someone up!") / ("They're scary bad dogs! Nobody will fuck with me!") - You got ghetto people owning these breeds, who have no interest in dogs, or knowledge of dogs in general. They end up being tied up with lack of socialization, nor exercise, etc.
That's the type of people whom walk into his law firm. Notice how the media is filled with stories; "Neighbor's Pit Bull Attacks..." / "Family Friend's Pit Bull Attacks..." These almost always happen in ghetto, and or low income neighborhoods, owned by problematic Pit Bull.
A dog like a Pit Bull isn't going to attack someone when properly raised and socialized.
They are not for first time owners type dogs. They require knowledge, and experience. People who own them, do not have any of that.
Get real. His argument is an actual joke - people only hate these dogs, because of media fuel. Simple as that. You're more likely to die in a car accident then ever coming across a Pit Bull and getting mauled.

Of that pitbull's account for 64% of fatal attacks. That's more than all the other breeds combined. And pitbulls only represent 5% of dog breeds.

The lion is incredibly strong and attacks by instinct its natural for a lion to attack but its not the attack that's the problem the thing is that the lions strength is the problem..... It doesn't know its own strength and will kill someone not meaning to kill that person........ Same thing with a shark its way to dangerous strong and powerful to be a family pet..... You see dogs don't view "bad" or "good" they view what they are programmed to do. Therefore we are not compatible with such mentality, humans are just not compatible

The lawyer must be able to identify by fact what a pitbull is before he can even conduct research for his other points. The Lawyer claims the pitbull is the American Staffordshire terrier then later claims the Pitbull is every dog or dog breed that has a Blocky head and a big chest.
So The lawyer in one breath sets the foundation for comparison’s between American Staffordshire to other dog breeds, then changes the foundations for comparison, classifying the Pitbull as 10 or more different dog breeds vs every other dog breed as a singular dog breed individually, 10 vs 1 is disingenuous misleading & rigged. The English bulldog, English Staffordshire terrier, American Staffordshire terrier, American bully, bullterrier, American pittbul, Boxer,Old English bull dog, Connie Corso, Bullmastiff, are all recognised as different breeds & each breed can be identified by DNA. The guy on the phone is not playing semantics he’s Point is a fact, the lawyer Point in response is only his subjective truth.
The lawyers Salt water point only disproof his own point because once salt is added to water it is no longer Salt or freshwater it is salt water, this method is the reason we have different drinks & recipe’s, medications ect & why Coke & Fanta are not the same drink just because they both have sugar, they both have a combination of different ingredients that create a different outcome in taste. Many medication will use a ingredient but the combination overall create a different outcome,I wonder if he thinks spaghetti is salt.

    Pits kill.
XL Pits are being bred, 130-150 lb.
The lawyer is spot on, expert.
And sadly, pits are horribly abused, used for fighting, ppl get other dogs to feed to pits.
A “never been aggressive” pit/mixed pit are easily triggered by sudden noises, a shriek, sudden movement.
A family had a newborn, 3 days old, wife baby husband pit in bed watching TV. Mom coughed, pit turned made eye contact w the baby & killed the infant.
So the 1st woman caller wants to wait until the dog attacks, maims or kills before it’s deemed dangerous.
    They’re bred to kill.
Mr Phillips has accurate information that can save lives.
I’ve read info by Doctors, Phillips has knowledge by experience.
Any dog can bite. But it’s much more severe with the power, jaw strength, tenacity of a pit/mix/large headed dog.
The trauma is horrific, amputations, flesh torn off, maimed for life, or killed.
They kill pets, easily triggered, high prey drive.
    Ppl need to take heed.

I was mauled by a retired police dog when I was 10 or 11. Bruce was a German Shepherd, as were nearly all police dogs in that era. I had played with Bruce for years before the attack, but he was always off chain. This time he was chained to a doghouse while the owners and my family woked in the garden. I had never been warned that when Bruce was on a leash or chain, he considered himself on duty. Lucky for me his chain was short and as he jumped on me, biting me, I was propelled backwards and eventually I was out of reach . I don't think Shepherds should be banned, but I do think Pits should. My daughter took in a pit from a rescue. Within one month, he grabbed the best friend of my granddaughter, by the forehead and pulled her off the sofa. At least 6 people (4 adults) in the room, all watching a movie. No sudden noise or action. That bite tore her open to the skull. They immediately surrendered that dog to the pound.

It seems to me they are just more mentally committed to bite down and not let go and this comes from strong instincts bred in to them over the last few centuries.
You can see their is a diffence in how breeds of dogs tend to bite by watching an Australian cattle dog work compared to a border collie; the cattle dog will nip more because it was bred to chase cattle rather than sheep.

I don’t get it. If you have a choice between the 20 cal or the grenade launcher, which one you think is gonna do the least amount of damage?. Why do these people have to have this particular breed and why are they so adamant that they must have this particular dog. Even if the risk is tiny why would you put your child around that? I wouldn’t put my child around any large dog but a pit Bull? Doesn’t that defy maternal instinct? What am I missing?

There is great mix of true and misinformation here, it is sad. The attorney makes some points but makes a lot of loose comments, like “John P Colby invented the American Standforshire terrier” that’s so wrong, also the standfoshire bull terrier, it’s a whole different breed. Also dogs in England that were baiting bulls where literally old English bulldogs and the dog fighting ones where bulldog terriers mixes, not defined as APBT.
Human aggression is highly uncommon among “Game/ sports/ hunting” APBT.
The actual description of what he says is a Pit-bull type dog is so wrong in deed because is so vague, so we can say ( all thick dogs with big head and muscular complexion who bites a kid is a Pitbull) this is so wrong.
But I agree when he says Pitbull type dogs or dogs who have lineage of an American Pitbull terrier shouldn’t be in the hands of just any owner, any powerful breed as a matter of fact should have the right owner.

      Dog aggressive, yes
but yet proving more & more with each increasing attack that they're also Human aggressive
Even legendary breeder, John Colby's pitbull, fatally mauled his own nephew back in the day & he did not cull the mauler.
He went on to Breed it.

So define a pitbull. It is hard to define some animals clearly because of the variety. We can only go by description that sometimes approximates certain aspects that my also describe other dogs because we are using words and not picture.
Like how does one define an old English bulldog vs the English bulldog we have now aside from the difference in size? Or define a French bulldog or a bull mastiff. Define a German Shepherd.
That caller was an arrogant AH since I doubt he could define a pitbull himself. And the better wording should be 'describe" because you are supposed to describe the features and traits of the dog but then the words alone may also describe another dog with similar features,

@@Sammy-mp9xn That is not a definition of a pitbull and that is why that arrogant AH caller should have been asked to define a pitbull himself. Sometimes, mere words can't define or describe (which the lawyer did) an object, event, animal, etc properly that a picture is needed. If I hadn't seen pics of those dogs you listed (so you gave me a list and not a definition), then I wouldn't have an idea of what those dogs look like. That is why many people don't have any idea of the other rare breeds and even some breeds that other know because mere words can't fully define nor describe them and won't give a clear picture in one's mind.

      @dantan1249 9 місяців тому

@@The_ScapeGoat Official Standard of the Chihuahua
General Appearance: A graceful, alert, swift-moving compact little dog with saucy expression, and with terrier-like qualities of temperament.
Size, Proportion, Substance: Weight - A well balanced little dog not to exceed 6
pounds. Proportion - The body is off-square; hence, slightly longer when measured from point of shoulder to point of buttocks than height at the withers. Somewhat shorter bodies are preferred in males. Disqualification - Any dog over 6 pounds in weight.
Head: A well rounded "apple dome" skull, with or without molera. Expression - Saucy. Eyes - Full, round, but not protruding, balanced, set well apart-luminous dark or luminous ruby. Light eyes in blond or white-colored dogs permissible. Blue eyes or a difference in the color of the iris in the two eyes, or two different colors within one iris should be considered a serious
fault. Ears - Large, erect type ears, held more upright when alert, but flaring to the sides at a 45 degree angle when in repose, giving breadth between the ears. Stop - Well defined. When viewed in profile, it forms a near 90 degree angle where muzzle joins skull. Muzzle - Moderately short, slightly pointed. Cheeks and jaws lean. Nose - Self-colored in blond types, or black. In moles, blues, and chocolates, they are self-colored. In blond types, pink noses permissible. Bite - Level or scissors. Overshot or undershot, or any distortion of the bite or jaw, should be penalized as a serious fault. A missing tooth or two is permissible. Disqualifications - Broken down or cropped ears.
Neck, Topline, Body: Neck - Slightly arched, gracefully sloping into lean shoulders. Topline- Level. Body - Ribs rounded and well sprung (but not too much "barrel-shaped"). Tail - Moderately long, carried sickle either up or out, or in a loop over the back with tip just touching the back. (Never tucked between legs.) Disqualifications - Docked tail, bobtail.
Forequarters: Shoulders - Lean, sloping into a slightly broadening support above straight forelegs that set well under, giving free movement at the elbows. Shoulders should be well up, giving balance and soundness, sloping into a level back (never down or low). This gives a well developed chest and strength of forequarters. Feet - A small, dainty foot with toes well split up but not spread, pads cushioned. (Neither the hare nor the cat foot.) Dewclaws may be removed. Pasterns - Strong.
Hindquarters: Muscular, with hocks well apart, neither out nor in, well let down, firm and sturdy. Angulation - Should equal that of forequarters. The feet are as in front. Dewclaws may be removed.
Coat: In the Smooth Coats, the coat should be of soft texture, close and glossy. (Heavier coats with undercoats permissible.) Coat placed well over body with ruff on neck preferred, and more scanty on head and ears. Hair on tail preferred furry. In Long Coats, the coat should be of a soft texture, either flat or slightly wavy, with undercoat preferred. Ears - Fringed. Tail - Full and long (as a plume). Feathering on feet and legs, pants on hind legs and large ruff on the neck desired and preferred. (The Chihuahua should be groomed only to create a neat
appearance.) Disqualification - In Long Coats, too thin coat that resembles bareness.
Color: Any color - Solid, marked or splashed.
Gait: The Chihuahua should move swiftly with a firm, sturdy action, with good reach in front equal to the drive from the rear. From the rear, the hocks remain parallel to each other, and the foot fall of the rear legs follows directly behind that of the forelegs. The legs, both front and rear, will tend to converge slightly toward a central line of gravity as speed increases. The side view shows good, strong drive in the rear and plenty of reach in the front, with head carried high. The topline should remain firm and the backline level as the dog moves.
Temperament: Alert, projecting the 'terrier-like' attitudes of self importance, confidence, self- reliance.

In the first place even that arrogant caller won't be able to define a pitbull. The best thing is to describe the dog but even then it is not so easy given that descriptions of each breed will be similar with others of the same lineage. So pictures are better. Try using words alone to describe the other dog breeds and let a friend guess what you are describing.
So can you define a pitbull?

How can you 'extrapolate' your own biases without saying your biased?
Your username is a joke. I doubt you have ever spent days Philosophically thinking because if you had you wouldn't claim such baseless facts.
You cannot know what makes these dog types act the way they do. What makes a bad owner? In my mind it is one that doesn't think about the possibilities that dog ownership entails, the dogs most likely to attack are ones that are treated with 'love' and spoilt. I remember a time where real dog trainers would physically discipline dogs when they acted inappropriately and now with the new wave of byb many people don't bother doing it because it makes them feel bad and feel like an abusive animal owner so the dogs psychological placement is at the top and so of course they take charge and dominate over the weakest animals around them.
Quite frankly your claim disgusts me.
I could go on all day about this and destroy your pathetic arguments.
