Hopefully, the 4G will have a strong solar panel to recharge the battery Thank you again for the hard work. Now I'm waiting for the PoE video. 😁😁😁
The PoE is the same as the WIFI version performance wise. Whenever I can sort out the NVR channel issue, I might switch one of my Reolink NVR cameras with this because I'll be able to see the whole front side of my house without distortion..we will see.
Let's go!!! Ok. They definitely need to fix what's going on with that odd washed out look on one lens vs the other. But since this is a pre-production unit it's kind of hard to judge it all the way. The pre-order show that comes out on November 30th so they still have time to fix any software issues as well. I really want the full wireless version with the solar panel. I might pre-order it right now. That ultra wide angle is something else.
TBH this issue immediately puts me off, which I just assumed is down to manufacturing tolerances and the fact that the sensors aren't matched/ it's a relatively cheap product. in other words it's luck of the draw, but if Reolink can actually fix the issue in software, they need to hurry-up and do that before reviews like this one do more harm than good.
How do you like the pro 3? I'm new to the whole security camera ecosystem and debating on the Eufy S40 or the Pro 3. How does it work st night in the rain, the battery last long, any software issues?
@@shanew7361 I don't actually have the Pro 3 which is the 2K version vs. the Argus 3 which is only in 1080p. Still however, I love them all. The only software issue I have experienced and continue to experience is an overlapping issue where I view a live stream or recording with my phone turned sideways to rotate/view the larger screen. When I do so, you can partially see overlapping video from another camera (as I have 6) on the right side of the viewing screen. And the thing is, the overlapping becomes more gradual and takes up more screen space as I swipe left on my phone to view the next corresponding camera. I guess you can say it is very similar to the way the Reolink Duo performs. It's very annoying. I did report this problem to Reolink of course and they pretty much told me that their engineers are working on resolving the issue. I knew I should of set my cameras to manual update.
I hate having to drill big holes for the PoE versions because of the attached cables. All they should have is an RJ-45 port on the camera to connect the cable. If your walls are too thick you even have to install a box on the outside of your wall to hide all the cables. Their camera's are good though, especially for the price and their app also keeps improving. I do agree that we should have thumbnails in the notification when motion is detected. Hopefully that will be added in the near future. I already love the GIF's when watching the recorded footage, that's a great feature. Thanks for bringing this up and hopefully Reolink will read this and listen :).
Yes it's a pain to run wires to cameras and if needed junction boxes. Took me 2 1/2 days to put ethernet cables in the attic and down through soffits. I didn't need junction boxes. Just put the connections up inside the soffits. Once done though, it's really the best way for long term use, you can install wired cameras which function better than battery cams. I also have a few battery cams for backup in case electricity goes out. Battery cams are much better than no cams at all.
The same sentiment, exactly which is a downer considering that Reolink Battery/Solar powered is listed @ $169.99, yet the more difficult to install Reolink Duo POE camera is cheaper @ $119.99. It is a neat idea, but the obviously split and not same quality video from left to right makes me to hold off until hopefully Reolink can improve it and come out with a newer and better version of it.
This is perfect for our case scenario. I didn’t want to drill more holes and run another line for another camera but our current single camera setup isn’t wide enough to cover everything. This will be our first Reolink camera.

Hey Life Hackster, I really enjoy your vids keep up the great work ! Quick question at some point can you do a review on the SimpliSafe outdoor camera ? If you do that would be awesome 😎
Can the spotlight and infrared lights work independently? Can you set a zone for the spotlights to trigger, using the infrared in other zones? I basically would want the spotlight in the yard, not on pass the sidewalk and street, just infrared.
Hi, do you have to use the Ethernet port or can this work over WIFI with just power. Just thinking about drilling a hole through the wall and trying to avoid POE stuff to save the hassle of making RJ45 cables.
LifeHackster said in the first minute of the video there are four versions of this camera, you don't need to buy the POE version. Go to Reolink home page and decide which version works for you. It shows in the specs how each is powered.
The only thing keeping me from committing to reolink is the lack of rich notifications. I never realized how much I needed it until I was relying on my rings one.
Would love a 4k version of this. But saying that I would only consider a camera with cables that are not exposed. I suppose I will have to wait to see if they put out a 4k version with concealed cables. When I first heard they were putting out a 2 lens camera I thought they were talking about 2 lenses faces in opposite directions, I can see a use for this configuration as well but each of the lenses must be able to moved independently to each other.

I’ve always been a bit confused about this. These have the 4mp sensor, but how does this compare resolution-wise to their regular 5mp bullet cameras ;o ???
Can you please review the new simplisafe wireless camera, it looks promising. Also maybe the blue by adt suite of cameras. Would be excited to see these!!!!
So I bought the new outdoor wireless simplisafe cameras and I can tell you I’m not a huge fan. The motion detection is fairly good, but I don’t like the magnetic mount since you can swipe the camera really easily. Also the notifications I get when it detects movement are 50/50. Sometimes I get them and other times I’ll look through the timeline and see there was movement recorded but I was never notified. The biggest let down though is their connection. I have an Eero Wi-Fi mesh system and great coverage around the house and without fail when I try to load up the live feed either it’ll say the camera is disconnected, or it’ll take upwards of 15-30 seconds to start the live feed. There is no reason for this whatsoever as I also have blink cameras and 99% of the time I can load up their live feeds in a few seconds each time I try. Also trying to talk through the camera if it does load either results in no audio coming out of the camera at all, or a very chopped up low volume version of what you tried to say. This doesn’t seem to be an issue with Simplisafe’s wireless cameras exclusively though as I also get the same problem with their indoor camera that is literally 5 feet away from its Wi-Fi node it’s connected to, and the same with their wired video doorbell. If someone rings the doorbell and I try to pull up the live feed to talk to them it’s very hit or miss. For me I’m going to return their cameras and have POE cameras installed for the main portions of the exterior of the house, and as far as inside, or any blind spots I may have outdoors I’ll just utilize my blink cameras to supplement the POE system. Seems to be the best route for me in my opinion. SimpliSafe has a great product as far as the actual alarm system goes with many options to choose from, but their cameras are very lack luster and their software is nowhere close to being able to properly utilize them at this point in time.
Video quality day/night at 25 fps is very good.. even comes threw good on UA-cam which compresses video quality . audio is very clear. the detection could be better but it did record you before notification . when you get battery wifi you should test it how far it can go with the wifi from home. I like the 2 eyes.. looks scary too.. which is a plus... which NVR are you using with it?
Hi I watch alot of your videos I am wondering if you can help been looking at this reolink duo 2k 4mp Wi-Fi camera to add to my collection but I am wondering if this is an error do both the camera lenses show different colours if so has this software been fixed thanks…
I just hate the exposed cable, cant make it look good with installation. Surely they’d change how it is mounted so it is a fly lead that comes out the base and can be through a junction box etc.. great review. Loving reolink
Was hoping for a launch day review. Price is really reasonable. Little bummed on the delivery date, but we probably have the backup of cargo ships on the west coast to thank for that. I wish they had a way to snooze alerts. If I’m cutting the grass, I don’t need an alert on my phone every minute. Might have to get one.
@@LifeHackster ended up doing a pre-order on the WiFi and POE version. Hoping the POE in the front yard is slightly less conspicuous and WiFi one in the backyard.
too bad the battery wifi is not nvr compatible. Still looking for a solar model that allows me to save the footage outside the camera but not only in the cloud.
Does the wi-fi version really not nave H.265 or is that a misprint? I didn't think you could buy a camera without H.265 anymore...especially a wi-fi version.
Hey Hackster, can you please review the AvertX NVR camera’s that they sell at Costco? I literally can’t find any reviews on these. They have a set on sale right now with the 4K mini bullet cams and 4TB HD for $300 off
Will this camera think deer are humans? I’m trying to get a camera for a guy who is always on my property at night and I want to get a notification when he is caught on the camera.
One thing that I would be interested in is how it reacts to passing cars like when it’s mounted in the front yard. Mine start recording when the car or person is almost out of the frame.
I have a question for anyone who has these are the recording always available for example if someone hit my car while I was on vacation and I go to look at the footage a week later would I be able to find / look at the footage also how long until the footage disappears
I enjoyed this video. If you don't mind a bit of constructive criticism, please stop doing that thing at the end of each sentence where you do the slight pause between the second-to-last and last word. It got very noticeable and distracting the more the video went on. Outside of that, the information was helpful.
Unfortunately the lower end operating temperature for this, and other, Reolink security cams makes them a questionable buy for those living where winter temperatures often fall below -10 degrees Celsius.
I've owned Reolink cameras for two winters. My wired Reolinks function fine at lower temps than specs. On nights when it got down to -27 F all the Reolinks worked except for the battery powered one. It had to warm up to -14 F in the morning for the Reolink battery camera to work again.

You have to get a sim card from your cellular provider and there is a monthly fee like a cellphone.
Is this the best night time "AI person detection" camera so far? 30ft at night is not bad
It is pretty good...and it records the whole event.
Will you be doing a review on the Wyze cordless vacuum?
No..not their wireless vacuum.
I have my Reolink 8 channel NVR.
@@LifeHackster which model number?
Only have 8ch. Reolink nvr do I need to upgrade to 16ch ? Does it take 2ch on the nvr ?
It does take 2 channels. Depending on your setup, you might not need to upgrade. It can replace 2 of your existing cameras.
@@LifeHackster thank you very much nice to know that.
Hi I watch alot of your videos I am wondering if you can help been looking at this reolink duo 2k 4mp Wi-Fi camera to add to my collection but I am wondering if this is an error do both the camera lenses show different colours if so has this software been fixed thanks…
Hi , can you please tell me which REO NVR model works with the REO DUO POE camera?
Did they update this camera's software?
Hi LifeHackster. Can this camera be linked with Amazon Alexa? I cannot get it to connect via the Reolink cloud.
I just hate the exposed cable, cant make it look good with installation. Surely they’d change how it is mounted so it is a fly lead that comes out the base and can be through a junction box etc.. great review. Loving reolink
Where is your referral code for buying?
I have a link down below. Thanks.
Hi, the ethernet port of the wifi version have to wired to connect to the router or power cord only is fine.? Then just connect wifi wireless?
You don't have to use the ethernet connection to your router if you are connecting to WIFI.
@@LifeHackster for reolink poe camera what ethernet cable you use? Any link that you can recommend?
Was hoping for a launch day review. Price is really reasonable. Little bummed on the delivery date, but we probably have the backup of cargo ships on the west coast to thank for that. I wish they had a way to snooze alerts. If I’m cutting the grass, I don’t need an alert on my phone every minute. Might have to get one.
In the app, you can set "scenes" which you can control the notifications and recordings of the cameras that you set in a group.
@@LifeHackster ended up doing a pre-order on the WiFi and POE version. Hoping the POE in the front yard is slightly less conspicuous and WiFi one in the backyard.
I like it, It's just so Big and Stands out a lot, In a Way the Camera sorta looks like E.T. lol
It actually reminds me of R.O.B. that came bundled with the Nintendo system and Johnny 5 from the movie Short Circuit. 🤖
@@Chuppakabras How bout Johnny5 from that movie short circuit lol
True... or Johnny 5.
too bad the battery wifi is not nvr compatible. Still looking for a solar model that allows me to save the footage outside the camera but not only in the cloud.
Same here, I did order the Eufy S40. Disappointed only has 8gb on board storage. Let me know what you find!
Do we lose all features if there is no Internet? That is, can it be an effective Standalone Cam?
You will lose notifications but the camera should still record motion events.
Does the wi-fi version really not nave H.265 or is that a misprint? I didn't think you could buy a camera without H.265 anymore...especially a wi-fi version.
how to get both lens working at same time I tried I can only get one at the time. What you show on your setting I don't have like Dual wifi.
Tough choice between this and keeping my Ezviz C3X on my garage.
Do u need an sd card installed before you can initialize the camera?
What kind of Zoom does it have Optical or Digital? How many times can it zoom in?
Have you looked at the reolink duo2 yet?
HI!
Does reolink duo wifi support POE ? Or i have to sell my duo wifi and purchase duo POE?
Hey Hackster, can you please review the AvertX NVR camera’s that they sell at Costco? I literally can’t find any reviews on these. They have a set on sale right now with the 4K mini bullet cams and 4TB HD for $300 off
So it’s 2k per camera right and not both of them combined because that would suck
2x2K
Can I use micro sd class 10 for this camera? Or I need faster.
Yes, you can.
What POE injector do you recommend?
Will this camera think deer are humans? I’m trying to get a camera for a guy who is always on my property at night and I want to get a notification when he is caught on the camera.
Can you use the solar panel with the WiFi model?
Had to return my 4k Tracmix due to ping issues and network. 1080p or 2k camera :). 25 feet is enough or me for motion detection for now.
Please consider running more round-up videos. I watch a ton of your videos, but I have a hard time figuring out what the 'best' options are! :)
I need to do one before the end of the year. Thanks.
So they will have this “dou camaras “ “WiFi “ as well as solar powered like arlo ?
Yes.
@@LifeHackster will definitely consider, I have being holding on changing brands ..currently have two Arlos!
How do you turn off spotlight on this camera?
One thing that I would be interested in is how it reacts to passing cars like when it’s mounted in the front yard. Mine start recording when the car or person is almost out of the frame.
Does it record continuously or motion only
Both can be set in the settings.
How come the grass looks different between each camera?
Color settings in the camera which currently I am not able to match.
I have looked everywhere and cannot find this camera to buy. Any suggesstions?
They are available on Reolink's home site for pre-order.
I have a question for anyone who has these are the recording always available for example if someone hit my car while I was on vacation and I go to look at the footage a week later would I be able to find / look at the footage also how long until the footage disappears
Number 5 Alive!
:)
This the S40 or Argus Pro 3?
S40 for now..I'll be comparing these models soon.
@@LifeHackster 💥🖐👌👍 ty
Does the WiFi camera require an NVR?
does this cameraneed to be plugged in?
Will it record 24/7 with sd card?
I enjoyed this video. If you don't mind a bit of constructive criticism, please stop doing that thing at the end of each sentence where you do the slight pause between the second-to-last and last word. It got very noticeable and distracting the more the video went on.
Outside of that, the information was helpful.
Does this save one video file or two?
Can it be mounted upside-down and flip the displays in the app?
There is no need to mount it upside down because there is also a 1/4 20 thread on top.
Wired ones should be ok and will have no issues.. it is the battery powered ones that will not be reliable.
@@LifeHackster Thanks for letting me know. Knowing this now I might just buy the WiFi version of the Reolink Pro.
@@markd.songsandstuff7728 Thanks.
Does it feature only PIR detection?
Their battery powered version does.
@@LifeHackster Thanx!
is there a way to improve the joint in the picture between the twin lenses
Good question. As "seamless" as it may be portrayed to be, you can obviously see the split and the difference in color is off putting
