THE BED IS WET - THUNDER STORMS - FLOODING - DID WE GET HOME IN TIME ?
CAN WE GET A WHEEL CARRIER AND LONG RANGE TANK?
CAN WE HAVE ANOTHER WATER TANK ? DOES NIK HAVE TO GET RID OF MORE CLOTHES?
IS IT ALL GOOD OR NOT????

Hearing you on the caravan weights. We got our old set up done & a little shocked. Definitely have culled this new van. Amazing what you can live without, even full time vanning.

Yes it is surprising how much stuff we have just incase.
We have got this van down to bare minimum and after 6 months if some thing hasn't been used we will off load it.

The best way is to put an extra tank of water as you run out of water first in the bush than anything else. With adding spare wheel just carry the skin as in tyre without rim. Just be careful with where you're going to position your water tank as that have an impact on your Towball weight. I can see your roof rack is completely empty. Do you travel with it empty like that or forget to put gear you usually carry. If so the get rid of it and thus trading for a full spare wheel. Cul your toolbox and unnecessary gear.
The roof rack carries our shovel and maxtracks they are there all the time.
We have brought a water bladder now it's 150lt and only fill it up if we go into town that way we can bring water back to camp without taking the van. Even with this full we are still within our weights towing.
And if we unhook the van we have over 700kg of payload to play with so safe in both cases.

We did find we wish we had a bladder once before when we were tryingto get water.
It would of been so much easier to just go in the car because most of the fill points are hard to get a van into.
So hopefully this helps.

That is what we are trying to get out there it is very important to know your limits.
Just because your car can tow 3500kg doesn't mean it really can in really can.
Most cars are able to tow that weight but only if your gcm allows it.

Hi guys, great video! Good job in being underweight, after 3-6 months you'll work out what you actually need and use (clothes, pans etc) and can probably get rid of more stuff. Was your fridge full at time of weighing? Will you do a weigh in every year? A few friends of mine have a rule that if you put something new in, you gotta take something out, that's to try and manage the weight between weigh ins. Nik, i think you'll still look beautiful without makeup! I've enjoyed the 'shorts' you posted and hopefully a couple of videos during the week would be great 🤞🤞. Safe travels.

Yes that is our rule too.
Yes the fridge was full so was the pantry.
We only carry on pot one pan and a plate cup and bowl for us. If it only has one use it doesn't come our rule is it needs to do more than one use or it doesn't come with us.

Yes I have changed to cans when we travel and Nik is lucky to drink a bottle of wine every 4 weeks.
But we will take cans and a cask when we are on the road.
Just at a mates now so just got stubbles cos I like to drink out of glass.

Hi again guys great video, thankyou for showing your weights i see you got a gvm upgrade to 4200 i was wondering what you have in the back of the car because your well under, I'm also getting the coil delete on our y62 with a gvm upgrade to 3980 i am hoping this will be enough as I'm not putting much in the back no draws etc only small fridge and a couple of tubs of stuff and were your tanks full when you weighed
If you scroll back on our videos you will see what we have done in the back of the Y62.
As far going for the GVM upgrade I went for the just the 180kg upgrade but it wasn't enough the car stillsat low in the arse with the van on.
So I had to go through the expense of paying all again to do a coil delete and that's why I went the biggest I could get ! Better to be looking at it than looking for it! You can always carry more if you have the payload but if you don't you will be kicking yourself.
With the tow ball weight on the car we were still under our gvm by over 400kg
If we didn't have the van on we still had over 700kg left to play with.

Maybe a few months in, throw some things out/donate what you’ve not used. I love clothes too Nik but you’ll probably not use them all and can donate some along the way. It will all work out 😊
