MT WELLINGTON HOBART - GEOGRAPHICAL CENTRE OF TASMANIA - TARRALEAH HIGHLAND COOS - COLD 7decgrees..
THIS WEEK ON DNA.
WE TACKLE THE DRIVE UP MT WELLINGTON IN THE RAM 3500 HD.
IT IS VERY NARROW IN SPOTS AND EVERYONE THINKS THEY HAVE RIGHT AWAY! LOL.
AFTER WE GET TO THE TOP THE VIEWS ARE AMAZING, YOU CAN SEE FOR MILES THIS HIGH UP.
WE WALK THROUGH THE INDOOR VIEWING PLATFORM AND TAKE IN THE 360' VIEWS OVER HOBART AND THE SURROUNDS.
WE WALK DOWN THE NON-SLIP PATHWAY TO ANOTHER PLATFORM WHICH LOOKS OVER THE EDGE, WOW WHAT A VIEW.
SO GLAD WE CAME ON A BETTER DAY SO WE COULD SEE IT ALL.
WE WALK AROUND THE UPPER CIRCUIT READING THE POINTS OF INTEREST AND THE DIFFERENT WALKING TRAILS.
YOU CAN TAKE YOUR DOG UP HERE BUT YOU MUST LEAVE IT IN THE CAR AT ALL TIMES.
WE MAKE OUR DECENT DOWN THE MOUNTAIN POINTING OUT THE FLORA AND FAUNA WE EVEN SEE KENNY THE ECHIDNA NUMBER 26.
A FEW DAYS LATER WE MOVE CAMP AND MAKE OUR WAY TOWARDS THE CENTRE OF TASMANIA.
LIKE ALL ROADS HERE IN TASMANIA THEY ARE NARROW AND VERY WINDY.
WE HAVE BOOKED INTO A CARAVAN PARK FOR CHRISTMAS AT TARRALEAH.
THIS IS A CLOSED TOWN; THIS IS WHERE SOME OF THE HYDRO ELECTRICITY IS PRODUCED.
THE WATER IS FORCED THROUGH BIG TURBINES TO MAKE ELECTRICITY.
THERE ARE NUMEROUS STATIONS LIKE THESE THROUGH TASMANIA.
THE PIPES LEADING TO THE POWER STATIONS ARE HUGE.
THE WATER IS SO CLEAN AND RUNNING FAST.
ONCE WE CHECKED INTO THE CARAVAN PARK AT TARRALEAH, NIK WAS TOLD THEY WERE EXPECTING SNOW OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS.
LEAVING NIK HOPING FOR A WHITE CHRISTMAS IN TASMANIA.
OVER THE NEXT FEW DAYS THE TEMP DID DROP TO A MAXIUM OF ONLY 6' LEAVING NIK HOPING FOR A WHITE CHRISTMAS.
WE VENTURED OUT THE NEXT DAY TAKING A DRIVE TO THE GEOGRAPHICAL CENTRE OF TASMANIA - IT WAS HAILING AND THE TEMP WAS ABOUT 6 DEGREES BRRRRR.
WE WENT LOOKING FOR A BRIDGE - DERWENT BRIDGE - ONLY TO FIND IT WAS A PLACE NOT A BRIDGE AS SUCH LOL.
SO, WE HAD LUNCH AT THE HUNGRY WOMBAT CAFE THERE AND MADE OUR WAY BACK TO THE HYDRO POWER STATION WHERE WE TALKED ABOUT HOW IT WORKS.
THE NEXT DAY IS CHRISTMAS WE HAD A QUIET CHRISTMAS BY OURSELVES.
WE TOOK A WALK TO THE HEAD WALL OF THE PIPES WHERE THE WATER IS PUSHED DOWN THE HILL TO FEED THE TURBINES TO PRODUCE POWER.
FROM HERE WE TAKE A BEAUTIFUL 1 HOUR WALK THROUGH THE MASSIVE TREES AND FERNS TO TARRALEAH WATERFALL.
YOU HAVE TO CHECK THIS OUT IT IS AND EASY WALK AND WELL WORTH IT.
YOU CAN TAKE YOUR DOG AS LONG AS YOU LEAVE THEM ON THE LEAD.
AT THE END THERE IS A COUNTER LEVER PLATFORM SO YOU CAN WALK OUT TO VIEW THE WATERFALL.
AFTER WALKING BACK TO THE TOWN OF TARRALEAH WE WALK YOU THROUGH THE CARAVAN PARK AND SHOW THE HIGHLAND COOS.
THIS IS WHERE WE END THIS EPISODE.
HOPEFULLY YOU ENJOY THIS ADVENTURE?
SO GRAP A DRINK AND A COMFY CHAIR - SIT BACK RELAX AND WATCH WHAT WE GET UP TO.

Hi Guys, loving your Tassie videos. We are from Melbourne and will be heading over there on 2nd February for 4 weeks, but without the caravan. Will you still be over here then? Cheers David & Connie 😊
Thank you glad your enjoying our content. No we sail back to the mainland tomorrow morning Cheers Dave and Nik 👍🍻🇦🇺
Don’t b sorry about the rain Nik it’s beautiful ,lov the rain lol
We all need to rain i know but does makes it hard to get out and about sometimes. Thanks for watching and commenting on our channel 😀 Cheers Dave and Nik 👍🍻🇦🇺
Great advice.Going to do that from now on (the barrel tip)
It's good to do a small wash while driving. Cheers Dave and Nik 👍🍻🇦🇺
Love you guys so down to earth
Thank you 😊 Cheers Dave and Nik 👍🍻🇦🇺
Great episode guys. Mt Wellington….. probably the most stressful drive I have ever had. And I did it in a small Corolla hire car. As you said… there is a lot of idiots who have no idea how to drive to the conditions on such a steep winding road. Look forward to your next episode.
Thanks guys it was a long way up for sure 😆🤣😂 Thanks for watching and commenting we really appreciate it 🙏 Cheers Dave and Nik 👍🍻🇦🇺
Dootown sure does have some unusual names on the houses
Yes it does but it is great that the town folk all join in to create the theme. Cheers Dave and Nik 👍🍻🇦🇺
@daveniksadventures2255 Yes it sure is, Tassie sure is a beautiful place
It is beautiful Cheers Dave and Nik 👍🍻🇦🇺
Great episode guys, yes that drive to the top of Mt Wellington sure is windy, but the views over Hobart are awesome
Yes the views are breathtaking well worth the drive. Cheers Dave and Nik 👍🍻🇦🇺
Loving your videos. Great couple and it is good to see a UA-camr driving with both hands on the wheel. Yes, we are old school. Best wishes.
Need to here The roads are so narrow and tight 😆🤣😂 Thanks for watching and commenting on our channel 😀 Cheers Dave and Nik 👍🍻🇦🇺
Excellent video, we are local to the South of Tassie and we are currently staying at Lake Leake Inn a freecamp up north. Love to see you enjoying yourself. We stayed in May one year at Tarraleah in a poptop ! Never again hard tops only soooo freezing but an experience lol ! Enjoy
Yes it was cold 🥶 But it's all about the adventure 😆🤣😂 It was beautifulscenery there and was beautiful once it warmed up and the sun came out. Cheers Dave and Nik 👍🍻🇦🇺
Darby falls NSW. You think it's a waterfall. No, it was years ago a bloke called Darby falls off his horse.
Think you have sent this to the wrong channel? Our content is in Tassie at the moment not NSW. Cheers Dave and Nik 👍🍻🇦🇺
@daveniksadventures2255 no its on the miss reading names of places.
@RustyCandyAdventures ok I'm still lost not sure what your trying to say ? Call me dumb 😆🤣😂 It's gone right over my head. But thanks for watching and commenting on our Channel. Cheers Dave and Nik 👍🍻🇦🇺
Am cruising through your wonderful videos of Tassie . 6 yrs I’ve been here and not seen any of the places you’ve been to. Don’t think I’m going to either, time is running out. Bring on NSW and hope to catch up with you both again. Thanks for camping with us for sooo looong ❤
Yes it does tend to happen you live in a place but don't see what's around 🤔 We all get busy with work and don't get time to explore. It's been great staying beautiful place. Cheers Dave and Nik 👍🍻🇦🇺
It took me about 4 shots to watch this one keep getting interrupted, but it was worth it great vid guys 👍👍👍👍
Thanks for watching and commenting 😊 Great to see your enjoying our content. Cheers Dave and Nik 👍🍻🇦🇺
Another great episode, we’re loving seeing a bit of Tassie through these videos, love the relationship between you both, you make us laugh. 😂
😆🤣😂 Thanks we try to keep it as real as we can. Having fun is the best way. Glad your enjoying our content 😊 Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment 👍 Cheers Dave and Nik 👍🍻🇦🇺
Got to see the wall, it is amazing, an extremely talented man and also tells an amazing story.
Unfortunately we didn't go in but we can't see everything and sometimes budget doesn't allow it too. We have seen the carvings at Ledgerwood and Campbell Town. Thanks for watching and commenting on our channel 😀 Cheers Dave and Nik 👍🍻🇦🇺
Nailing it guys, every episode is an adventure. Keep them coming, Cheers 😊😊
Thank you 😊 This was filmed just before Xmas and on Xmas day. Thank you for watching and supporting our channel Cheers Dave and Nik 👍🍻🇦🇺
How are you finding the fuel economy in the beast, a touch hilly there. Will be there in 2 weeks, and we'll keep an I out for you.
Not towing we are using about 11-12 litres to 100km and around 18ltrs towing. Yes it is very narrow and hilly and windy 😆🤣😂 In a big rig. The main roads between the cities are good its once you venture out is where they get narrow and hilly. But if you want to see stuff you have to take the narrow roads 😆🤣😂 But take your time you will get used to it. We won't be here we sail back on 21st January. Cheers Dave and Nik 👍🍻🇦🇺
Love your adventures and thanks for sharing them with us. You need to go back to the Wall. It’s amazing. Yes I know you can’t film but the gem is knowing it’s not just something you can look up and see. It’s an immersive experience and bloody incredible because of the workmanship and story. We loved our time in Tassie and can’t wait to go back at then end of the yr for 9 months when we start our travel and work stage of life.
Thank you for taking the time to watch and comment. Sometimes you kick yourself for not seeing somethings but we have seen the carvings at ledgerwood and Campbell Town and made a call that for us we would give this one a miss. We won't be going back we are up near Devenport now. Cheers Dave and Nik 👍🍻🇦🇺
@ no worries and understandable. Those carvings were amazing too.
@coversadventurecapers2838 thank you 😊 Cheers Dave and Nik 👍🍻🇦🇺
Loving your Tassie ones as I live here love how you get nervous on the Tasman bridge lol we know no difference hope you have loved our little island
You should of gone to the wall it is amazing even if you couldn’t film
Just the bridge was not really marked seeing the middle lane is used in both directions depending on peak hour. Never seen this before and not knowing where you are going can be a bit daunting lol 😆 Thank you for watching and commenting Cheers Dave and Nik 👍🍻🇦🇺
Unfortunately budget does come into our travels and sometimes you can't see everything because of that 😕 We have seen the carvings at Ledgerwood and Campbell Town and enjoyed them and the stories behind them so we chose to give this one a miss. If we had travelled the other way and came to the wall first we would of gone in and probably missed the other ones. Luck of the draw sometimes. Cheers Dave and Nik 👍🍻🇦🇺
Great video guys .. brought back fond memories of our trip to Hobart. If you’re looking for something different to do, catch the ferry from Bellerive Pier to Salamanca Market then have an awesome feed at the Bellerive Pub next to the pier. They do Scallop Kilpatrick and …. For dessert they do Golden Syrup Dumplings
Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment on our content. We can't film everything we see and do we did wander around Hobart and take in the views. But like all our content it is between 3 and 4 weeks behind where we are now. Cheers Dave and Nik 👍🍻🇦🇺
Great content Dave & Nik 🫶
Thank you 😊 Cheers Dave and Nik 👍🍻🇦🇺
Oh you really should have gone in to the wall, it is absolutely amazing! You’ve missed out there. 😕
Sometimes you have to pick and choose what can see and what you can't see. This wasn't high on our attractions list so sometimes you need to pass on somethings to see others unfortunately. There is a lot to see and we do have a budget we need to stick to. Cheers Dave and Nik 👍🍻🇦🇺
Say D&N have you been to the Left of Field caravan park it's so worth a visit. Ps still watching and enjoying your trip. We have been over there 7 or 8 times luv Tassie.
No we haven't been to that one or even heard of it. I'll look on wikicamps to see where it is Cheers Dave and Nik 👍🍻🇦🇺
Loving your Tassie trip! If you haven’t been there yet, there’s some absolutely gorgeous walks you can do. Philosophers Falls near Waratah, dog friendly too. Another spectacular walk is to Trowutta Arch on the Tarkine Drive. Dogs not allowed but only a short walk and can leave Indie in the car or take turns going down. We spent 3 months there early 2024 and loved it!! Bringing back so many memories! Enjoy
We have been to a lot of places sometimes we film and sometimes we just enjoy it ourselves. Thank you so much for your support and watching our channel we appreciate it 😊 Cheers Dave and Nik 👍🍻🇦🇺
Such beautiful places guys ! 😂😂you crack us up ! Suck it in Nik 😂😂😂😂 ❤
They were no where near her but was funny to see her when she thought they were 😀😆🤣 Thanks like always for supporting our channel. Cheers Dave and Nik 👍🍻🇦🇺
Great video love watching you both but could just turn the camera around a it more so we can see what you are looking at especially the bridge we didn't see mu ch you keep the camera on you would have liked to see it but keep up the good work stay safe
It's hard to do and please everyone some say more of you when talk others say too much of you and not enough scenery. But we will take on board what you are saying and try harder to get a good balance. 👍 Thanks for watching and commenting. Cheers Dave and Nik 👍🍻🇦🇺
Thanks guys top ep cant wait to follow in your footsteps well no bakery this ep lucky im sitting here eating homemade vanilla slices lol thanks for your ep 😊
We don't go to a bakery every day 😂🤣😆 just once a week and it's not always on the video either 😀 And lucky you that your good enough to be able to make them. Nik will be jealous. Thanks for watching and supporting our channel 😀 Cheers Dave and Nik 👍🍻🇦🇺
really enjoying your Tasmania travels, thanks for sharing. Would like a bit of a summary of the different places you based yourselves to do all the day trips, hoping you do a map or summary at the end of your trip ( to give me some ideas for next year :) )
Yes we will do a review on what we done and where we stayed once this we get back to the mainland. Cheers Dave and Nik 👍🍻🇦🇺
@@daveniksadventures2255 We will look forward to it, except will be sorry to see your Tasmania series finish, keep up the great work, enjoying your travels, exploring, eating, a bit of comedy and a bit of every day stuff, a good mix. You scored a great day for Mt Wellington, we have been up there twice and it certainly is a spectacular view.
@karenray9353 we tried to go there a few times but weather wasn't on our side It's a long trip in to see the clouds 😆🤣 We weren't going g to go that day but it all cleared up so drove the 1.5hours in and glad we did. Thank you for watching and commenting on our channel 🙏 Cheers Dave and Nik 👍🍻🇦🇺
Great work guys 🇦🇺 👍
Thank you there is so much to see here and you do miss a lot. Thanks for supporting our channel 😀 Cheers Dave and Nik 👍🍻🇦🇺
Thanks for sharing, pretty country side😊
Yes it is beautiful cou try around here and it changes all the time. Cheers Dave and Nik 👍🍻🇦🇺
Hi Dave & Nik so loving your trip around Tassie, will go back and do it again one day.
Great that it is inspiring you to check things out. 👍 Cheers Dave and Nik 👍🍻🇦🇺
Honestly I think the cow didn’t like you cos it sensed you are a butcher lol 😜 I love how huge the tree ferns grow in Tasmania. Very prehistoric.
Yes those ferns are everywhere down here in the mountains. Maybe they sensed that too but never really tried those cattle as meat in a butcher shop. Thanks for watching and commenting on our channel 😀 Cheers Dave and Nik 👍🍻🇦🇺
I remember being in Tassie 20 years ago and doing a tour of the Cadbury Chocolate factory, it was great and came home with quite a bit of chocolate 😂
We did see that tour but for that reason I didn't go in nik would of needed a trolley to take the chocolate to the car ! Lol🤣 Cheers Dave and Nik 👍🍻🇦🇺
@ 🤣🤣🤣
This was an excellent video. What wonderful advice. Thanks for sharing 😊
Thank you 😊 glad you enjoyed it Cheers Dave and Nik 👍🍻🇦🇺
Brilliant tip..we will definitely be doing this when off grid..
Yes a great way to stay out there longer. That's how we do it off grid but when on mains water it's all back to normal washing. Cheers Dave and Nik 👍🍻🇦🇺
Thank you so much for sharing, we have learnt so much on your channel very much appreciated.. cheers Dave and Nicole and Indie.🌻🌼
That is why we do what we do! To show places and ideas so it's easier for travellers to get put there. Glad your enjoying our content 😊 Cheers Dave and Nik 👍🍻🇦🇺
I do the same but always use a rinse wash mainly for clothes. On sheets day will source water with our water bladder or do them when hooked up to water.
Yes there are a few different ways of doing it. And that's good that, that way works for you. Thanks for sharing 👍 Cheers Dave and Nik 👍🍻🇦🇺
Fantastic episode guys 😊
Thank you 😊 Cheers Dave and Nik 👍🍻🇦🇺
Thankyou so much for this information it's so helpful😊.I will share this for others.
That's the idea 💡 It's been round for years but not everyone knows about So please do share it 😀 Cheers Dave and Nik 👍🍻🇦🇺
You guys are amazing! Such helpful tips to people who are yet to commence their caravanning journey. Thanks so very much
This is why we do it to help those who haven't seen or heard of these hacks yet. Makes your time off grid longer. Cheers Dave and Nik 👍🍻🇦🇺
We've been doing this for yrs. Little bit of hard yakka involved but worth saving any bit of water. Well worth it! The drum wash definitely has been around for donkey's yrs & another great hack Also, we use grey to water to rinse our compost urine container out, save wasting more usable water. Great job Dave! Very multiskilled😊
