I never tried anything like this before. I ordered what you showed in the video and followed it step by step. I am a mechanical engineer and I am a little technically savvy, but I think anyone could do it. Thanks for making it easy.
Followed to a tee, the chimes in the truck were almost in sync with your truck in the video lol. I had to swap my cluster in my 06 stx due to it malfunctioning with the classic loose solider joints issue, which I had repaired once before couple years ago. One of my employees wrecked my 07 xlt so I just had a tach cluster anyway on hand, but I needed to be rid of the compass/temp/TPMS system in the program. I was just told from a garage that to fix my gauge issue, I would have to have my truck recalibrated at the dealership and it would cost me $1000+. I’ve watched these vids and this looks relatively straight forward. Is it permissible to go back there and whip them with a stick for appearing to have boldly lied to me LOL?
I've got an 06 F150 XL, the dome lights never worked, nor do the cargo lights, the door ajar message does show when the doors are open, there is no power at the dome light and cargo light sockets, crazy thing is when I switched out bad third brake light housing with LED's, the computer went bonkers, every relay in the fuse box was rapid clicking, the truck wouldn't start, and the PATS light was lit solid, I had to switch the cargo bulbs back to regular bulbs to get the truck back to normal again, this ruled out a switch or wire harness issue at least. I've been having issues with the odometer backlight working when it wants to, also the ABS and e-brake like stays on all the time. Would replacing the cluster resolve this?
Great Video!!! However, I had a couple glitches. I upgraded from 2004 STX to a Lariat gauge cluster. After loading original gauge profile (STX) all appears ok except door ajar, dome light doesn't work, and temp gauge is inop. (Which I know isn't connected. Everything else works great. What can I do to get dome light to work and door to chime?
The problem is you bought a cluster from a vehicle with a floor shifter as far as I have see you need a cluster that has the p r n d 1 2 on the bottom instead of fx4 for example if it has fx4,or lariat, king ranch etc don’t buy it unless you have the floor shifter hope this helps
Greetings, and I read in one of your comments that the gear lever below doesn't work if it's the gear lever above. I have one that had the same one you took from that one and I mounted the Lariat one. The air does not work and obviously the doors. can it be reprogrammed and it will work or would it waste time?
Guessing same works for 04. We have same dome light, Ford dealership said they've never seen that style. Mine is full of nicotine from it being a construction vehicle
I just completed this change out in my 06. While I was looking for some information about this I came across this video. Everything works perfectly so far except when I turned the truck back on the mileage was not what was on the cluster but what was on the one that I bought it didn’t change. Is there a way to correct this using FORScan?
In this video I stated the mileage cannot be changed in Forscan and stays with the cluster, so its important to get a used cluster with the same mileage, or you can send it off to a shop that can reprogram the EEPROM that stores the mileage.
I have an issue with the Forscan, I've became a subscriber, but couldn't save the data from my original PCM, could you kindly help, I have a 2004 Ford f150 XLT, trying to upgrade to a 05 cluster.

Mahalo for this video. Just got me a cluster with tach and will be purchasing this forscan so it works properly. Also would the dealership be able to correct the mileage for me?
I believe on this generation the only way to correct the mileage is to have a shop that has specialized equipment to connect directly to the mileage eprom on the circuit board.
Thanks for the information about swapping the IC on my F150. I have an issue, everytime I write the old data into the new cluster it doesn't change the mileage. I save couple files of the original cluster and took photos of the registry to make sure is not corrupted. Any ideas why it doesn't want to chsnge the mileage.
No it doesn't, it keeps the original miles. I am going to run it again, I believe there was a message about the Odb2 compatibility. Am using Bbfly-Bf32302.
@@lemuelms What I'm saying is. If you watch the video again. You can't change the mileage. That's why you have to buy one that's close and wait until they match to switch them out. The odometer is on a isolated circuit. To change the mileage you have to write to the eeprom directly with a specialized piece of equipment. Later model F150s you can change the mileage with a separate service function in forscan, but you can only increase the mileage, not decrease it. They do this to prevent mileage fraud.
Thanks for the information. My old odometer has 413,000 and the new cluster has 214,00. Definitely I need to increase the mileage to be legal. For a 2004 F150 do you recommend to send it to repair shop or Forscan upgrade can do it.
