The "problem" was owners over filling the primary because they thought the levels were the same as previous models. There was no actual oil transfer problem with the Milwaukee 8 engine.
Hi Doc love your videos they have lots of good info, I have a question I got the 2020 deluxe and my brother has the 2021 heritage and i noticed that the rear shock era different, witch one is better the one with reservoir or without reservoir
The only issue I have with the Heritage is the tube tires. As you pointed out, that one customer changed them out for cast wheels and very likely tubeless tires which is an expensive but great idea. Too bad Harley can't come up with SPOKED tubeless tires after all these years. Other manufacturers have had them for years. I like the spokes, but..........
Doc....you got the right idea, My 2018 Road King is great!....but in a few years I see myself getting a new Heritage! Thanks for your great content...Always!
Hi Doc - what exhaust system is on the heritage, screamin eagle? also do you have a video on 3 hole fluid change similar to the 2024 heritage? what syn fluids would you use for oil, primary and tranny? Ty!
So true, excellent video. I'm making my 2019 Harley-Davidson Heritage Classic FLHCS 114 my own. I blacked out almost everything. I will continue with the cosmetic on few more parts. I also bought performance upgrades for the M8 to complement its Stage IV 131ci Kit not installed yet. Items you mentioned on your videos I also bought. Thanks for your excellent videos.
Just traded my 2014 Fat Bob, which I just completed a bunch of up grades on, for the new 2021 Heritage Classic114. And I'm not disappoint at all. Can't wait to start upgrading this baby.
The best way to own a Harley for me? Buy clean pre-owned with little to no modifications, and just go nuts. Ride it until inspiration comes around for an all out new idea. Sell it or keep it. Get another. Repeat......Mans best tinker toy. Harley Davidson.
I have 2 harley's: 2018 Sport Glide and a 2016 Slim S. Obviously the new 2018 monoshock rear suspension performes much much better than the 2016 "old" softail dual rear shock system. Is there any after market system that will significantly better the handling performance of the 2016 softail rear shock system? Another thought I have is what is the frame stiffness factor in the handling performance. I am a sporty rider, like taking corners low which gives me an ultimate sensation. My 2016 slim S is an olive gold denin one which I think is an iconic bike. Thanks Doc
Really enjoy your videos full of information on looking after my Harley. I've a heritage and do my custom fits as I can afford them. Love the crome wheels your customer put on. Keep the videos coming there awsome. Harley lover from NZ.
Doc, my 2008 FXSTC sat for 6 months. When I tried to start it nothing happened. Battery went in new showing 13.4 volts. Lights are as bright as normal. I fixed my 1964 Duo Glide on the side of the road but I am lost on this one. Where would you look first. Bike started fine and ran strong before the 6 months.
Do you have security? FOB might also need a new battery and be present. Remove the main fuse under seat. Examine and install. Make sure no critters have been chewing while in storage. When you say won’t start, does that mean the starter won’t turn? Or the motor won’t run? If it’s the latter, fuel has gone bad. Thanks ~ Doc
I would like to see a video on air suspension shocks and air line replacement. I have a 15 FLHP the air line got ansmall hole in rear under fender area and noticed a harsh ride and bottoming out. the air line is difficult to find 5/32" I think. I' m thinking of rerouting new line whn I find it above the fender. What would be a good recomendation from andesoned HD tech as well as I would love to become one myself in later age years being a ford senior master tech so basicly 2 questions ???
Hi from the UK Doc! Would you be able to find out the name and part number for those wheels added to your customer's FLCHS in the video (at approx. 1.30 mins). I have a '18 plate FLHCS and have been looking to replace the spoked wheels but there is very choice out there for a relatively new bike with the new style (to Harley) axle. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
We purchased it through DRAG Specialties: #1802-0034 2 1/2in inlet and 5in out. We also purchased longer screws 4M7206 and an extra set of disks 5046512
Had a sporty, road king, 2 ultras, and a brand new 16 limited. Went big and power and doo dads and HATED it. Went back to a carbed 2000 heritage softail...added 16" apes and loud pipes for safety....and it's my all time favorite bike now. Can ride for days and not get tired with my lighter bike and can pop off the windshield and bags for a cruise in town too. Wish I still had an evo motor like I had in the 80's with my first HD, but I'm done. My bike makes me happy and gets a ton of smiles per mile. I know new is what makes the bucks... but a classic Harley with a carb is a sound like none other.
I don`t understand why HD does not have the Heritage in a chrome version. I`ll be damned if I am going to spend $24000.00 on a 114 Heritage only to have to add another $5000.00 for chrome.
They did - prior to 2018, that is. That was the year that they redesigned the bike, doing away with the old design and coming up with the abomination they are marketing now. The previous style was loaded with chrome and was a gorgeous bike; this thing they're marketing now, not so much. My first Harley was a 2003 FLSTCI and I loved it. I had a chance to take the "new" Heritage out for a test ride in October 2017, and the ONLY thing I liked about it was the engine. I hate the blacked-out look, I hate the bags, I hate the windshield because it's too low and the rake is too slanted, and I hate not having a heel-toe shifter. The engine was a powerhouse which I loved, but that's about it. The amount of head bobble I encountered due to the wind blast coming over the too-short windshield at 70MPH gave me a whopping headache. Instead of replacing the old Heritage with this thing, what Harley should have done was keep the old Heritage the way it was and marketed this bike as an entirely different model.
@@dgwilliams4795 Yes they do, and it looks pretty good. It's still not the same bike as it was in 2017, but it looks better than it did in 2018 and 2019.

@@neilbrown82 It's only overpriced if you can't afford it! Nobody will force you to buy anything I have several bikes and one is a CVO after comparing it to a Road Glide Special and negotiating the Sales price down considerably it was a great deal!!
I, for one, fail to see the logic in buying a blacked-out motorcycle and then putting lots of chrome on it. Kinda defeats the purpose of the bike being blacked out to begin with.
I like the Road King's. The 2009 RK and up started packed on the pounds! When riding out to Sturgis I see lots of big touring bikes on trailers. Don't get it if one is going to trailer why not just on a lighter bike. Old school bikers rode all kinds of bikes to Sturgis, more were hardtail choppers. So we are either getting soft or in too much in a hurry to get somewhere and trailers are faster. I can see the benefits of riding the riding the Heritage, Deluxe or LowRider over a big touring bike. Yeah if you ride lots of 600 miles plus days than buy the big touring. If you ride up to 500 miles days or plan on trailer the bike more lighter bike is better! Now if you are live on your bike like those gypsy bikers then definitely the touring model. Hell years ago I toured on a 1200 Sportster lots of Interstates. P..S. If one is over 250 plus lbs or tall 6' 2" than get touring models. At 5' 8" I don't fit the newer RK the old RK's I fitted better. For me I love the backroads of America.
As I tell people. The cost of the bike is a down payment on accessories lol. I have tweaked every harley I have owned including my current 18 Ultra 19 FLHT and 01 sporty

Still the dumbest thing about Harley Davidson. You spend too much money on a bike to begin with, and then you have to spend what you could spend on a second bike to make your first bike the way you really want it. Oh, and if you can't afford all of that, you can finance with them, too. That way they can take even more of your money. Not that I might not ever ride or own one, but it would have to be a hell of a deal.
