Don't expect much help from Jorvik when the front wheel bearing of a JMT6 collapses after only 1600 miles in 2 years of mild use. It is not a mountain trike, difficult to control on uneven surfaces such as unpaved farm tracks. I generally ride on paved roads and footpaths with gentle slopes and gentle braking. Their solution was a new front wheel, £350. After many emails, even trying to contact Bafang, finally got the bearing part no. and after much more searching eventually found a competent local motorcycle engineer who was willing to attempt a repair. Bike shops in my area and even Halfords would not touch this trike. These are great trikes, BUT if you are thinking of buying one make sure you know a good local mechanic. You may also need access to a trailer, van or pickup.

Was that a mid drive model?

@@ozzyheather9242 No, front hub, hence the problem.

Excellent review, thank you. Does it have what I believe to be called, a crawler gear so that you can walk beside it on very steep hills? I'm thinking about towing a tiny camper trailer (60kg laden), do you think this would be up to the job of towing it?

Hi Shane, Thanks 🙂. It does have a walk button, I think this is the same (?), and I think the max weight is 133kg, but don't know about pulling something. I'd ask them direct - jorviktricycles.com/

I want something like this.. I'd add more 18650cells and a small light solar panel for the back

I am thinking about getting a Jorvik trike for going down to the shops, but I share Jim's concerns about leaving it unattended on the street while I am in a shop.

A couple of things that may help you feel comfier - 1. You can get GPS trackers fitted. 2. You can get a gold standard lock. 3. They are quite unusual and hard to sell / there isn't a market for professional thefts (unlike electric bikes). 4. In 14 years of running our trike group, we have never had a trike stolen. 5. They are different to ride, so someone wouldn't get far. 6. You can get easily removable pedals for extra security.

Did Jim say what wattage the motor is ? There are two sizes available 250 and 500 watts.

He has the 250w, the 500w can't be used in the road legally in the UK

Further to my last comment, obviously electric vehicles are the way to go. The big problem is ground level support for new technology. Have watched vids with car owners having simillar problems. The more people buy electric trikes the better. I had an unfortuneate experience. I resolved it. I am a 73 year old pensioner with mobilty problems and my trike is essential to my freedom. I have critised Jorvik for giving me lack of support, but they also have a problem that they cannot create a network of service engineers. The more old gits that buy electric trikes and complain that they cannot get them serviced, the better.

How difficult is it to transport in a vehicle?

    • @SheffieldCycling4All

It depends on your vehicle. Van / pick up truck = easy. Small car = impossible.
