- In this video I show how to seal and waterproof your basement floor to get rid of dust and moisture.
BEST price on Drylok: creatoriq.cc/3...
Tools I used in this project:
Paint Roller Extension: creatoriq.cc/4...
Paint Mixer drill attachment: amzn.to/3CJk1Vr
Drylok deserves a place among WD-40 and duct tape.
Thank you!
@@drylokwaterproofer7393 I really like the Drylok Siloxane as well, I use it to waterproof my exterior brick.
Have you used clear coat before?
My 1950s townhouse basement has 2 old coats on it like this and it’s crumbling everywhere so do I have to sand it or can I just paint over it after vacuuming and mopping?
You want to get most of the old paint off first if it's still on there. Otherwise the new paint will peel as well
Yeah wear a mask when using drylock... at least n95. Don't wanna breath that ish in......
How has this held up? I know it won't be as durable as epoxy since its meant to flex. Looking to seal my basement floor before carpet or plank flooring...
It's been a year and a half and we love it. No issues, the paint is holding great.
Will this stop my basement floor constantly having dust kick up?
Did you solve your problem? Were your floors damp?
I couldn't see which Drylock product you used or if a primer is recommended. That would have been infinitely more useful than the directorial talents on display
It's just called Drylok, aka Drylok Original: www.homedepot.com/p/DRYLOK-Original-5-gal-White-Flat-Latex-Interior-Exterior-Basement-and-Masonry-Waterproofer-27515/100204228
You don't need a primer, its meant to be painted on directly
I tried this product BUT guess what...Water still penetrated thru the walls. Humidity still present. I can see water coming thru the walls still. Not happy with this product
That means you have other problems that paint alone cannot solve. You need to fix those problems first.
When concrete was poured. If they didn’t put plastic down before pouring the concrete . There will always be moisture
@@randyk2904 was poured in 1922, so I don't think plastic was even an option back then :)
that said, basement has been very dry since we painted
Did you find something better?
Make sure your landscaping is slanting away from the house. Check your downspouts and gutters. A couple dehumidifiers are also beneficial.
