You are correct, it will squeeze. 12” toilets will work the farther the toilet is away however, it will be way off the wall and not only look funny but when people use their toilet as a reading recliner then that is where the problems begin 😂 Happy Plumbing we appreciate you!!
@@shawnturner7064 an issue of off the wall is perfect. That way the cover for the tank can sit on top fully without it resting against the wall. That is the preferred method.
Thank you for this very helpful video. One thing. At the end of the video, you said that if I have a 13 inch or more space I need a 14 inch rough in toilet. I think you meant to say you need a 14 inch rough in toilet if you have *14* or more inches of space. Otherwise, you could be trying to squeeze a 14 inch rough in toilet into a 13 inch space. It looks like as long as your toilet rough in size is equal or less than the space you have to work with, you are okay! Thanks again for the video!!
We are so glad we were able to help! Hope you enjoy your new potty! What brand are you thinking about? We love American Standard Right Height/Comfort height. They flush great!
I’m having some serous issues here with my rough in measurements On one side I got 11 and the other is 11 3/4 I’m not quite sure why there different distances from the wall on each side of the toliet Can you help advise what I should go with here ? Im guessing this means I go with a stardard 12 but I want to be sure?
@@Farner49 The only thing that I can think of is maybe the toilet is crooked? I would imagine a 12 would work from most manufacturers. Thanks for watching our video and keep us posted with your progress if you have time please!
Some 12” kit combos will still fit . It just depends on the manufacturer. You might want to go with a 10 “ to be safe and just accept the fact it is gonna be off the wall a little.
I thought I was going to find out how to measure the toilet by itself - a toilet sitting by itself out in a field , no wall how do you tell what size toilet it is?

Does it matter if it is a one piece? Do they have to be next to the wall? or can they be an inch off the wall

You are actually measuring the hole under the toilet in relation to the wall .
@@TappPlumbing ok thanks I need to find how to measure the toilet by itself whether it's 10in or 12in
@@lcoop89 Look at the numbers stamped into the China inside the tank and call the manufacturer or look it up online.
This is helpful ONLY if you have a pre-existing toilet. It DOESN’T help if the old toilet was already removed.
You measure to the center of the hole, works the same😊
