Thinking anyone who reads their posts doesn't know who they are and the fact that they are just grasping at straws for false shortcomings of fossil fuel replacing/opposing technology that would take their profits and opulence life styles away from them. They talk about producing over 400,000 MW of power in 20 years. I can assure you that they did not use more than 0.01% of that power, and diesel fuel to produce the wind turbine, steel, transport it and all the workers to the sight.
If they are saving $38 per MW in natural gas costs, that would work out to $15 Million dollars of natural gas cost savings over the life of this one wind turbine, and China has thousands of wind turbines over 5 MW in service in 2023.

This video report the installation of the SL 5,000 wind turbine. That was a 5MW unit back in 2011. The biggest wind turbine in 2011 was 7MW.
A few days ago China has just erected the world's biggest wind turbine and it was a 16MW unit in 2023.

@@wbaumschlager You are short sighted! China has a total of 365,964MW wind turbines installed across the country. So others further afield may be generating electricity even the one you look at now doesn't. The amount of electricity generated by wind "only" by China in 2022 was 772 TWh. That is enough to power a country like UK for more than two years!
It is acceptable to be grudgingly and resentful against others who are doing better than yourself. However you cannot dismiss the fact in the last three years China has installed on average 42,214MW wind turbines per year. If you discount US and Germany there is no country in the world with a "total" wind installation more than what China could install in one year! The GWEC report in 2022 claimed China was responsible for 50.91% of the 93.6GW added globally between 2012 and 2022.
If you haven't got the fact right how could you compete with others?

the problem is not that oil is used as lubrication, the problem is that oil is burnt to produce energy which is causing climate change. So you cant recycle concrete, steel, copper or neodymium? the only parts that are problematic to recycle are the blades, they will probably be chopped up and used in road surfacing.

If you have driven the interstates in Texas and Oklahoma, you can see hundreds of large wind turbines in the 2 MW size range. So this one is 5 MW, so slightly larger. They are now producing 11 MW offshore wind turbines, and on shore up to 5 MW, due to the very large blade size. They are easy to move using a barge, but not the delivery trucks over land. Offshore wind in Germany is costing 5 million dollars per megawatt capacity. Operation and maintenance costs are 90 dollars the first year and costs increase every year after that. They only operate at about 35 percent capacity utilization. Due to blade degradation nameplate capacity decreases every by 4.5 percent then in 15 years or so you have decommissioning cost. Absolutely a giant waste of money as everything involved with so called green energy is. Trillions of dollars of malinvestment. The largest misallocation of resources in history. The Tension Turbine is based on the bicycle wheel. The bicycle wheel is the lightest, strongest, most efficient rotating device known.
The Tension Turbine is the most viable of all wind turbines.
The Tension Turbine: Half the weight, twice the power.
The Tension Turbine has no need of special materials such as carbon fiber to make it.
the Tension Turbine does not have shear, so the blade assembly should last many years before being replaced.
The Tension Turbine weighs as much as 70 percent less than a regular turbine, yet has as much as 300 percent more blade area in the area where the power is produced.
In a few years the Tension Turbine will be the standard of all wind turbines
In addition, there is no limit to the size of the Tension turbine. A unit similar to the Tension Turbine has been built as a Ferris wheel in NY, and the diameter is over 500 feet!. This is almost double the limit of the current turbines! this would produce more than 5 times the power of the largest wind turbine in existence.
