Nothing more satisfying once you have a drain in than to stand and watch all the water drain away :) Were doing quite a bit of draining up here this past week. Great video again.
@@OllyBlogsAgricontractfarmer 2.8 tonne kubota, replacing a lot of the old tile drains that are at the end of their life, we farm land that is only 12 above sea level, great soil, flat as a pancake though, and everything is done with a laser 35mm run in every 10 metres ! Strange how these guys 70 years ago managed to get them laid at the same run with no laser, clever guys !! Great machine you have, didn’t know it would work underwater 😂😂
Great video, using an interdrain 1716T trencher and a hoes 783 trenchless plough up here in Scotland. I tend to keep the side augers pulled up out the way and keep the chain speed high to clear the material... Forever replacing bearings when theyre down pushing soil
A lot going on today Ollie proper farming I didnt think anybody could walk on water but youve proved me wrong ,feeling 98 % today . 7610 any day will beat a maxum .Be good to get shut of all that water great video today Ollie i'm very impressed with that drainer Eddie
I think Maxim will win on a pull the augers on drainer push soil away from the trench You need a hoper on drainer set to a depth to put a level layer of stone on pipe your stone cart will keep it full Well done that hole will dry out quick now
Quiz question: Aughers are for when the chain pulls the soil up they pull the soil to each side of the drainer so the soil doesnt fall back into the trench. I think Robins maxxium will win the pull off too lol.
I knew it! The piles of stone I sometimes see next to the fields are there because the farmer hasn't spread them across the field yet! Even has a special hopper to spread them! (lol!)
This one was by far my favourite one to date. You can't fault your machines. Bloody floods. I really feel for you. But thank heavens the big long term lake has finally gone. The ducks will wonder where their pond went 😆 have a good weekend.
Draining is one of the most satisfying jobs in Ag. In Russia it was a main task of mine. We had a similar issue with a 4 ha lake in a field, we discovered a blocked outlet one day, cleared with slew, went off like a geyser, a week later we had 4 new Ha!
Hi Olly I just wanted to say Great video yesterday and I only got a chance to watch it now and i’m so happy there is loads of machinery in the videos now and I am a 100% yesterday and today

The augers are for pushing the soil away from the trench stop it filling up hopefully all the water should be gone in the morning olly great video as always 🙌🙌. Iv heard today a lot of farm contractors are closing down around Staffordshire and Cheshire while fuel is going up not good
It’s not only the bad weather and poor conditions that arable farmers have to cope with. Just look at the amount of time and fuel that you have used today in just moving wheat from the drier to the store from the wet heap to the drier etc etc. It’s the hidden hours and hours that wet corn costs. 80% How are you feeling Ollie?
that was well good seeing the draining going on well jealous...augers for moving soil away from trench or in your case to cause bow waves :) be safe from essex
Watching your video has just saved me some money. I’ve got some land drainage to do I was going to back fill with pea gravel. I’ve got a load of crushed when I did the house I can use that instead. Would you recommend using the sock over the pipe to stop it blocking up ????
Need to use clean stone really to stop it blocking the pipe and sealing, for land drains the courser the stone the better with in reason 20-40mm clean is ideal

hi olly - i spend my time removing drainage to recreate wetalnds for wildlife - whats the deepest depth you can put in this modern drainage systems ???
Hi Olly, I watched Granada news and noticed the spreader was switched on, great bit of bluffing 😂. That drainers a great piece of kit, did the water not come through the bottom of the doors on the tractor?? Qq, the auger is to move the soil out of the way of the trench being dug so it doesn't fall back in. Cheers mate 👍
for all that water why not get a bigger pipe to drain it. that is what i used in my back yard. and if u dont use a fabric to wrap it in rock under and on top the pipe then wrap the fabric on top them cover with dirt ur gonna plug up those slits in the pipe and it will be useless b4 too long.
I'd assume the augers are for keeping soil out the hole ....and I'd say the same for putting the soil back un the trench if the augers run in reverse...just a guess 😆 🤣
Todays video brings back memories. must be about 35 years ago i use to work for Leicestershire Land Drainage. We run 2 trenchers 1 big one with V8 air cooled Deutz engine that weighed about 50 tons and a old smaller one with a Ford 7710 engine in it. I was on the gravel trailers using MF 1200'S and Muirhills with 10 ton swan neck trailers we also had a Muirhill with a huge 100 ton winch and anchor on the back for when we got stuck then a few old ford diggers with half dozen operating handles good old days .... owe thing have come on ... loving the wading in the Fendt ..... and the scew at the back is for moving the soil away from the trench 😁
Hopefully you had set that level up right! It seriously looked like Andrew was going down hill! What size of pipe are you putting in? We do stretch the pipe out when layed to open up the perforation to let more water in before stoning .Auger's to remove the soil that the chain and teeth have brought up out of the trench.
