I have a similar unit and am wondering why I have to reset the time whenever my power goes out even though it has a backup battery? I had a fan motor replaced in the Amanna outside unit. I didn’t have to reset it before replacing it. Is there away I can fix this without having to call out aTech
Awesome video. My unit has been giving me the communication error for almost a year. Installer can’t figure it out. I just tried your reset. Fingers crossed. Only difference is I’m running a Goodman non communicating 16 seer ac unit.
Did it fix your problem? We have that now and three service calls later, it just happened again! 90 degrees out and two sick kids with fevers inside, and we need AC.
Hi Scott: Great stuff you taught. I have been using the thermostat CTK01 for my AC/Heat Amana system for about ten years, but now it has a touchscreen problem that I need to replace. Can I purchase the CTK04AE for a direct one-to-one replacement? It's due to the fact that the wires ( C, R, 1 and 2) layout look the same on both unit CTK01 and CTK04AE . That makes it very simple for me to follow to install it myself. Once installed, for setting the CTK04AE up, I would just follow what you showed on the video. Do I need to provide "Dealer Information" as it showed in the Installation Guide for the ComfortNet CTK04AE? Much thanks for any input you would provide.
I have a Goodman 2 stage AC unit (5ton) and Goodman matching air handler - both communicating. Both inside and outside boards were replaced. 3 service calls but can't seem to stop the unit from working while the tech is here, and then switching to "lost communication with the air conditioner" or "outdoor sensor needs to be added" or waiting for equipment. Short power cycles don't fix it but if I leave it off for an hour or more it sometimes comes right on and cools. Had three false repairs. Worked all night only to fail again in the morning. Not sure the techs can figure this out, especially with new boards already. Not likely wiring, or a long rest wouldn't fix it. could it be abad thermostat? Pulling my hair out here! BTW, awesome video. Your detailed explanation is perfection.
Really a helpful video. Have a very similar problem but the thermostat has been searching for the system for hours and can't find it. Yet it never comes up with the "Not Found" message as it says it would by the "Help" button. FYI, this is a CTK03. Do your have any insight as to what might be the issue? In a relatively rural area and have already spent money on services whose techs were absolutely clueless. No error messages on the boards of either the air handler or condenser. Supply voltage is ~28V AC and voltage differential between data lines is ~650mv AC. Would seem that is within system specs. Have found some ideas and looking for more insight. Firm believer in not being able to fix a problem if you do not know what it is. Thanks for any help you can provide.
The ctk03 could of taken a power surge wiping its memory thats a fairly old stat being a 03, if you know how to use a volt meter check across pins 1 & 3 in dc volts on the subbase of the thermostat
@@hvaciswin723 Thanks so much for the prompt reply. By subbase I am assuming you mean the 18 pin connector the stat plugs into. No indication which is pin 1 on the board so checked all 4 1 & 3 combinations. The pair on the upper left read at ~25mV dc. The other three pairs where around 4mV dc. You are correct in that it is old and I am going to replace it. What I am trying to do now is determine if it is the culprit. Service company wants to replace it and all the boards in the entire system even though no errors are showing. Have read numerous cases how this seldom is an effective approach. Often not solving the problem. I am trying to confirm if it is the stat or maybe the outside transformer associated. Power voltage is at 28 but have seen it is nominally supposed to be at 24.
@@hvaciswin723 Again, thanks. That is what I referenced earlier as data lines. With a DVM the dc voltage fluctuates at about 750mV +/- 100mV but it varies greatly. Put an oscilloscope on it. Line 1 has an alternating voltage of 500mv +/- 250mv. Line 2 has constant voltage of 300mv. Superimposed upon the 300mv baseline looks to be a square wave signal of 5 pulses consistently spaced in time but the pulses themselves are very erratic. Power voltage is still 28V.
the video was excellent, I have a outdoor sensor needs to be added message that needs to be corrected. The system has one but it wasn't added??? I went through the whole thing twice but I still have the message. thanks, Gil
Hello I have a Comfortnet Thermostat that is connected to the Honeywell HE360 Humidifier, the humidifier is not turning on so I bought a new fan side replacement to test and see if it was a broken fan control board or fan, I also replaced the solenoid (as the unit was very old). I am still not getting this unit to turn on so I am thinking it maybe the connection to the Thermostat (I know its connected to the IFC on the board) whats the best way to confirm the signal from the Thermostat is connecting with the humidifier?
I have a 3.5 ton Goodman with this thermostat. All be running well for two years. A few months ago the thermostat went blank. I thought it had a dead battery, so I replaced it with no luck. Called my a/c man and had a clogged drain. They corrected that and since then my thermostat isn’t the same. In A/C I have it set to 74 and it will drop to 60 at night and rarely shuts off. They have been here 3 times and can’t get it corrected. They have ordered me a new thermostat, but going on a month now and thermostat hasn’t arrived. Before all this happened my unit would stay on what temp it is set on with no issues. My a/c man said to change my set points and see if it helps. I put temp on +2 and humidity at +1. Still no luck. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks.
Its will not have dry mode but it dehumidification is turned on you'll get a setable humidiy set point with a range of 10% i recommended 45 to 55% for summer
The CTK04 doesn't seem to recognize the coin battery. Have changed more than once but still does not power thermostat when pulled from wall. Any thoughts? Thank you
The 2032 battery only protect memory. Does not power the stat. If your getting a battery error check tabs tgat hold the battery in place be very care if you try to afjust them easy to break
Great video! How can I find out what the installer password is? Mine is set to 69 min for AC and I would like to change to 68 as my wife would like it just a bit cooler at night
You shoumdnt a code to change room temperature unless someone has put in a low temperature limit. Depending on your tstat you could set a programed schedule
Eev valve require special board as well as thermistors on the indoor coil some require a pressure transduce. Unles a package unit came with eevs i would say no, no cost effective to convert the system
Thanks you very much, you answer every single question to the T, now my wife can enjoy some cooler ac.

Which system do you have? Model number please

Can I set it to only run on stage 1?( low setting on variable speed)
Don’t need to to blast air when I change the temp a few degrees
Hi, mine keeps telling to replace a button battery. Wondering if you can show a video on how to do it?
It is in a slot on the back of the thermostat, CR 2032 I believe.
How do you find or determine the date code to enter?
Are you talking about installer code?
Yes if going to comfortnet user menu, select dealer info first theres the 4 digit code
@@eclecticLE hit menu, scroll down dealer info date code is there
Thanks. Helped me.
is there a Daiken Dry Mode setting on this thermostat?
