Deep sensitivity and feelings rise up through the machismo, bringing tears to the eyes of viewers no wonder women love this wonderful actor! True humanization through an unexpected love.
I love the movie. I'm lucky enough to be going to a cabin this week that is right across the creek from the Trappers cabin. It still exists and is being used some 60 years later!
Yes!! This version has the 10 minutes missing from the first version I saw! And what important 10 minutes were missing! It was so good to see Eve manage life in the wilderness using the skills she learned.
Wunderschöne Geschichte über den Willen (männlicher Aspekt) und die Weisheit (weiblicher Aspekt) und wie beide an den Herausforderungen reifen. Prächtige Darsteller in starker Natur. Vielen Dank für's Hochladen ❤🙏
I love the fact that this was made in British Columbia, my home province. I got all teary watching all the nature scenes and I love the story between Eve and Jean and how they came to respect and love each other at the end of the movie. Thank you for uploading it :)
I absolutely LOVE this film! One of Oliver Reed's best & Rita T., too. And the interview at the start is a bonus! I laugh every time I watch it and hear O.R. say, “you want to stick that down my throat? You’re like a dentist” and after he says it, not only does the interviewer pull the mic back, the camera man backs up, too!
Oh waowwww!!! I really enjoyed watching this movie again! I saw it on the big screen in the early 1970's and I fell in love with Oliver Reed. What a beautiful man he was...
Oliver Read was a brilliant actor taken to soon. This is one of the best movies he ever did. So happy it was posted as had not seen it in over 25 years.
I got my leg Amputated last year. I enjoy Oliver Reed to begin with, I now have a newfound appreciation for his craft. Great movie. It was tough to watches soon as his foot landed in the trap as he had planned for the Bear, “ The Trap” became crystal clear, then I fell into the movie. Yes, yes. A true love story a good one.

Same here, in my childhood l only remember the part where he gets trapped but couldn't remember the rest of the movie. I can't stop watching it over and over again.
For me it´s the most romantic movie ever made. A woman friend of mine called it misogynist and that kinda made me sad, because our pholosphies must be so different. For me it showed how love can grow out of the worst beginnings. I mean, she pretty is much bought and all those ex convict woman who have no hope but find a man but out here, but then these man too, who can´t attract anyone but these woman. ¨No hope but¨ is still hope and can´t help it, it moves me to tears, it´s the most beautiful sentiment. Plus this is a great adventure movie. And to return to the misogynist insult part, Rita Tushingham saves this guys life and survives through the hardest journey and obstacles, how she belittled in any way. No, I stand by it, it´s very romantic, it´s about, hope, love, real people who pursue what matters, who wait out there, who come out there and others who are driven by a hunger for money, having a piano in the house for appearances, wanting to move to San Francisco, cruelty. Opposed to that a simple life, a harsh life, the reality, the truth, what truly matters. I love this movie. I love it!
I agree. my daughter says the same thing. they miss the pointers. the song at the beginning telling his aim to find a wife and house her on a hill under a huge sky a thousand horses wide and give her riches. And with his wilderness skills sets about doing that in an honest way, unlike the sly goings on at the town. In my childhood my father, an outdoors man himself, took me to see this, just the two of us back in the 1960s, i have been an outdoors hunting fishing guy since. my favourite movie of all time, high abventure when i was about 8yrs old.
Ironic you should call his accent "Shakespearian" as he was one of the few British actors of the period who naturally spoke like that, without training, yet he never did Shakespeare.
Incredible find, wow 👏🏻 Reed was memorable in every role I have ever watched him play. As a young boy seeing Oliver till I am an old man seeing Gladiator or for the first time this flick. ❤🙏🏻🇺🇲 Thank You. 👍🏻👍🏻
Dangers and hard times I thought you were talking about New York City.. what goes on here now in the city makes the wilderness a more desirable place the animals out in a wilderness I think they're a little more humane than the savages we got here in New York City and this pandemic is only made it worse thank you China for bringing us the virus
Thank you so much for posting this movie! I've been wanting to watch it again after finding this hidden gem on TCM a few years ago. Oliver Reed has the sexiest voice ever (2nd only to Richard Burton) even though it takes awhile to figure out his rough canuck accent. I know modern audiences would clutch their pearls at the premise of this movie, which is another reason I like it so much!
I saw this movie like 25 or more years ago...I loved it and have been wanting to see it again...was so happy to find it on here and was finally able to see it again last night. Epic movie ❤❤
It's hard to believe this film doesn't have more viewership on youtube. It was very well crafted. It's too bad that far more indecent films have become so popular when there are such life-affirming films like this out there. Thanks for the upload.
I’m going to watch it again and again and again. Already singing the song as I ride my bike through the forest to let the wildlife I’m coming. Oh man this one time wizzing down to hiway21 and I could hear crashing in the forest jumping right in front of me Going 50km touching the brakes and swerving. The intersection was coming up fast and had to watch for traffic. That bike is going to be the death of me.
One of the best movies ever made!!! I can watch it over and over again. And hey! They were thriving on the carnivore diet! "Meat make woman strong!! Have lots of children!!!"
Québec gal here. The accent isn't quite right but I can hear what Oliver Reed is trying to do, there's an effort there. For a Londoner who quickly had to learn by ear with little coaching, I'll give him a pass, plus it's neat to have representation. Cheers!
I'm British and even I can hear it's not quite right, having heard people do excellent examples before and yes I can get what he was trying to achieve. To me the star of this piece is Rita though and she is having to I everything with facial expressions and body posture.
I remember Reed playing bit parts early in his career, and stealing every scene he was in with his smouldering presence and air of menace. One early example would be his role in The Angry Silence, where he played a striking factory worker in the Richard Attenborough movie. Does anyone know if he ever wrote an autobiography?
