I like the way you present your video. Step by step, no music, no fripperies, just easy to understand visuals. You do amazing work. You are certainly at the top of your craft. I love the finished product. Beautiful melding of wood colors and textures. Thank you for presenting this video.
@@frelnc thank you so much, Mary. Truly appreciate your comment. Glad you enjoyed the video!!
Wow. Just amazing. The skills you possess and demonstrate just awesome. Work of art Thanks for sharing.
@@jvarblaze7495 thank you so much!
Love the veneer on the doors. The whole piece is a joy to the eyes. Walnut is my favorite of all the woods. It's hard for me to move away from it, at times. Great work.
@@juliakathryn2582 thank you, Julia! And I agree on Walnut being a favorite. No matter how many times I use it, I’m always blown away once the finish goes on.
Wow, wow and WOOOOOOW!!!! Making hard processes seem easy, you are phenomenal at it! Great video and an awesome piece of furniture, well done mate!
@@davidp5492 truly appreciate that! Thank you, David!
Perfect channel for my OCD😂. Thank You, Rick, for “therapy”. Pleasure to meet your amazing work.
Haha - it’s a pleasure to help! I won’t even bill your insurance 😂
Beautiful piece Big Sarge, got yourself a new subscriber...Go Ordnance!
👊👊. Truly appreciate that, man. Go Ordnance!! 🇺🇸
Solid work. The sliding dovetail is probably my favorite joint and you executed it solidly 🤌🏻🔥
@@upstreamstudios thanks! I’ve been incorporating them more and more into each build. Love this joint
Rick beautiful woodwork very pleasant in every aspect.
@@henrysara7716 thank you, Henry. Truly
Beautiful piece Rick. That definitely should be a keeper piece.
@@Ur_A_Fraud_WoodWorker thanks!! This one was for a commission but I plan to build another in the near future for the house
Another beautiful creation. You really are a perfectionist. Great video.
@@shaunbailey1033 thanks, Shaun. This one definitely tested my patience towards the end. Haha
Very well done sir!!
@@woody1320 thanks!!
Man, this came out great Rick. You just keep upping your game brother.
@@TWC6724 Haha - thanks, man 👊👊. I’ve been itching to build one of these for a very long time. Happy with how it turned out
Beautiful workmanship. Picked up some good intel throughout this build, though surprised you domino'd instead of dovetailing those stringers. Thank you for sharing with all of us!
@@branchandfoundry560 Agreed 1000%. I had every intention of dovetailing the stringers until I accidentally cut them short by .25” each. 🙄🙄. That was enough to make the tails way too small for stability. It was one of those moments where you just stop and stare at your mistake for like 10 minutes. I could have remade them but I would have had to use stock I was saving for the drawer fronts. It was a hard lesson learned. One of many on this build!!
@@RPBasilio Ha! Been there 👊
Finally, something pretty. I just stumbled onto here... Thank you.
@@robslifting4life thanks, man 👊👊
Gorgeous work and craftsmanship.
Thank you so much , Elizabeth!
That’s an attractive bit of casework!
😁 thanks so much!!
Absolutely beautiful i love the wood i wish I could come across something like that in Australia rather then a stain
@@carolmoore3706 thank you so much, Carol! I can always ship to Australia 🇦🇺! Haha
@@RPBasilio I wish lol it would cost way too much to ship here. Love your work though
joint work was number 1, really nice work
@@robertbeer2584 thank you, Robert 👊👊
Awesome. I’d definitely watch a shop tour vid if that’s something you’re interested in. Always curious how other ppl with smaller shops lay everything out :)
@@Hg99661 it’s definitely on my list of videos to make. Shop is only 170 sq feet so it definitely gets tight at times. Especially larger format builds like this
@@RPBasilio I hear you brother. My walls look like a racket ball court I’ve banged pieces of wood off them so many times 😅
@@Hg99661 😂😂
Stunning work and presentation. You have a new subscriber.
@@jeffforbes3772 thank you so much, Jeff 👊👊
The blue tape idea to make dovetails is genius!! I do a lot of work with Walnut and seeing the lines can definitely be a challenge. I don't know why you haven't shown up in my recommended videos, but I'm glad I found you! Beautiful work.
@@rjrotermund blue tape and double-sided tape are probably my biggest shop expenses. It makes joinery so much easier. And it’s cheaper than getting an eye exam and new glasses. 😂
@@RPBasilio LOL! I'm a bit older now and eye sight is definitely a problem. Are you in the US? What brand double stick tape do you used? I have not liked any of the brands I've used.
@@rjrotermund I use the brand Xfasten. I get it from Amazon and it’s incredible. Comes 3 rolls for roughly $22
@@RPBasilio thank you! Subscribed to your channel and loving your work. Thanks for sharing.
@@rjrotermund awesome! Thank you so much!!
Great looking project, I believe if I were to attempt to make this, the only change I'd make,is instead of the wood panels,I'd replace them with panes of beveled glass
@@chrisbrown456 funny you say that as one of the original designs had Morisco glass panels. I’d like to make this project again in the future in this manner
@@RPBasilio If I were to t4y this,id be tempted to use tiger maple, with beveled tempered shatter-proof glass
Great build (from another guy in MontCo)

Nice work Rick, I hope more woodworkers watch your channel and see that stupid antics just don't fit into woodworking. You got a new subcriber.
@@richardpeterson7714 thank you, Richard! You have no idea how much I appreciate that comment. Honestly
@@RPBasilio Rick, I'm serious about your fine woodworking skills. Please bring on some more excellent video's. We can't hardly wait to see more.
Beautiful!
Thank you, Neal!
Awesome!
I was hoping to see/learn more about the “seven doors to get two” fun you had.
@@jeffsanden9582 i debated on adding some of that footage to the video but thought it made it too drawn-out. I may make a separate video just talking about the issues I ran into, though. Plus, it would have taken forever to edit out all the foul language. lol
👍👍👍👍👍
Very nice, but I would have done different legs😊

Hi Rick. Thanks for the great build! Question- I see that you use your Veritas DT saw more often these days then your RC DT saw- any particular reason? Thanks again, beautiful work!
@@GrizzCraftCustoms Haha - great observation! My RC saw will always be my absolute favorite. The ONLY reason it’s not my go-to right now is that it needs to be sharpened. I haven’t learned how to do this properly yet, so I’m currently using the Veritas saw. This saw is nice but it’s a much more aggressive cut, which I’m not crazy about. One day I’ll learn to sharpen hand saws and get the RC back in the game. 👊👊
looks phenomenal as always. Can you share the link to the vacuum bag you're using?
Thanks! The bag is from Roarockit. It’s designed for skateboards but is a great affordable option outside of a vacuum kit. However, it’s VERY, VERY manual. Took about 10 mins of hand-pumping to get the bag deflated. Quite the workout
Outstanding, simply outstanding Sgt. Carry on young man, carry on.
Thank you, as always, William!
Nice work as always, Rick. Do you do anything after the dovetails come together to fill in any slight imperfections? I know a lot of people that use PVA glue and sawdust, but wasn't sure how finish would look using that method
Typically I do. I have yet to do dovetails where they all come out perfect. I have a feeling I will be chasing this for a very long time. When I fix gaps, I go with the old stand-by approach of wood glue and sawdust. However, for darker woods, hide glue works even better. Thankfully it’s small enough where the finish is not impacted
Excelente! 🇧🇷
@@jairsouza7108 thanks!!
Nice work Rick. Was that a 3ID patch on the back wall?
@@montewoods4766 Yes, sir! Rock of the Marne 👊👊
Hello. Will you kindly explain the tool you used to layout your dovetails? Appears to be an Irwin combination square retrofitted by adding a brass wedge. Did you come up with the idea?
Hi Leonard. The brass dovetail guide is actually made by Dirty Leg Craftsman. I’m not sure if he is still making them but this is one of my favorite tools in the shop!
@@RPBasilio thank you for the reply. His website does say "sold out".
Umm, why weren't there bottoms in the drawers?
@@ericpowell5803 I typically add the bottoms after I add the finish. Not having them installed when applying makes it much easier. Check out the video at time stamp 22:07. You can see the installed bottoms once the finish was complete.
@@RPBasilio I can see through the bottom of both of the drawers you show as you installed the pulls, starting at 22:07. You can see this at 22:09 and 22:13.
@@RPBasilio FWIW, it is a beautiful piece.
@@ericpowell5803 ahhh…you are correct! I just looked again. They were added right around this time. It’s always one of the last steps for me in most builds. Sort of a convenience process I use.
