I hadn't heard about watching for the 7th wave. Got caught by a rogue wave at Saltwick bay up near Whitby a few months back. Freezing water up to my waist while holding the tripod above my head. For a few seconds I really thought the sea was going to drag me out. No fool like an old fool, lesson learnt lol. Some first class waffling on this one Lynne and some lovely shots. Cant wait for the next episode
Oh crikey Peter......its so strong & the sand under foot feels likes it pulling you in as well...glad you escaped, relatively unscathed though 👍 At least you remembered your priorities though.....save the camera at all costs 😊
Thanks Mark , rough seas always give me a headache....I love milky smooth water but really want to capture the power of the waves as well... decisions decisions 😊
A little wind blown .....I look like I've been dragged through a hedge backwards most of the time 😂 Yup , long exposures , reflections & the odd lone tree all make me a very happy bunny 😊
We did have a few weather moments but in the main we were very lucky .There's unfinished business with Kimmeridge so a return trip is def in the planning 👍
Lynne, thanks for the tip about cleaning the kit I didn't know that about salt water. Here's a tip for you though...my mother always taught me that every 7th wave is bigger, as you say, but every 7th-7th (or 49th) wave is the biggest of all. Never stopped to count to check it though 😂😂
Seaside in the winter is always a challenge. I attach a bungee cord from the bottom of the tripod to my camera bag to add some weight and minimize vibrations. It doesn't lift the bag off the ground but provides tension and helps.
Hi Burt , yeah , my old tripod had a hook in the centre column for doing just that but alas with the new one , the hook is on the side of the head ( odd but true ) so need to figure something out ...a very long bungee cord I suspect 😊
Hi Christian , you'll not regret a trip down there...the biggest problem is deciding which of the many locations to visit as there's just so many to choose from 👍
Thanks Huckleberry......i shall look you up on flickr ......been , found you , WOW...some superb work there David , particularly like the Vintage style images 👍
Lovely images and video as usual, you have a very pleasant manner. You had me counting the waves as you spoke and I had to rewind as I had not been listening to you as well, I clearly can't multi task ha ha.
Hi Lynn. ...Weymouth signing in!! Now do you have the art of the saying something so inocent but cracking me up at the same time....... A pre dawn flush......oh I've had many of them in my time 😁! A motion in the water !,?? Yep well I think we have all seen one of them out near the sewer boy!🙊 ......The still pictures of the tide hitting the rocks for me ,was as if I could touch them soft ,fluffy, foam like waves. The sound of the sea crashing in again I felt I was just their in the moment. Can't wait for the next exciting installment ,thank you for sharing lynne👍💕😽
Good evening Weymouth & thank you for popping in 🙋♀️ You have my kind of sense of humour Bridget....I really should learn to engage brain before speaking sometimes 😂Glad you enjoyed it Bridget...I might borrow your words " soft & fluffy " for the next visit to the coast...describes them perfectly 👍
Another interesting and enjoyable video Lynne. Great images. Sound advice on cleaning the equipment after a visit to the sea. I recall my sea angling days when all the equipment had to be rinsed off in fresh water. Salt water is very corrosive.
Cheers Jim, can't take credit for the cleaning advice though......my bike instructor told me about it years ago & it makes perfect sense (I think ) . Salt water is just yucky when its on your gear !😊
Hey Lynne, I am a newer subscriber to your channel and I am truly enjoying your vlogs. The compositions you capture with your Nikon are beautiful! I am very inspired by your work! Thanks for all of your efforts.
Hi Ne , welcome aboard & thanks so much for your lovely words . Glad you're enjoying my little channel & I'm humbled that you feel inspired through my work 😊
Lynne I watch your videos because you get to a wide variety of UK locations. And you're always enthusiastic. But sometimes I may be in a minority of one when thinking there's a little more emphasis on your personal experiences (wet rocks tend to be always slippery, incoming tides always catch the unwary) and less on the photographs you take, why you took them and the technical decisions you make for lense choice, exposure, filters etc. Just a thought....
You must have been reading my mind Cheshire ...I have been thinking about that aspect of the vlogs & the one I recorded last weekend I have included a little more the photography side of things 👍My channel has always been about the locations & experiences but I you're right & I will try harder 😊
Thanks for the top tip re the 7th wave Lynne. Nearly got wiped out recently on the rocks at Scarborough with an incoming tide. Was loving the time on the beach and got distracted and before I I knew it, it was literally time to bail out the area. Loved the images you put up and already looking forward to day 4
Nice shots Lynne. They seem to be getting better and better lately. A reason I don’t do a lot of coastal stuff is exactly what you advise to be aware of. Sea salt seems a pain but no pain no gain. 👍
Sea salt....bain of my life that week ...never spent so much time cleaning my gear ! But boy was it worth it 😊 Get yourself off to the coast....but take plenty of lens wipes 😂

Another great photography vlog - day 3! Great tip about cleaning your camera after being at the coast! Kimmeridge Bay is better in the summer when the tide is out early morning but done very well with your images! Many thanks for sharing your work - Shaun
Thanks Shaun , I shall remember that about Kimmeridge as I want to revist this year . Just not sure I could cope with the hoards of people down there in the summer....but I will have to try 👍
Another great set of shots Lynne, really love the one with the 'sticking up sticks!!'. You really do get to some fantastic locations, how do you know about them?? My dad taught me about the 7th wave when I was knee high to a grass hopper!
Hi Mike, Sticking up Sticks......brain/mouth fail there I think but it was quite an apt description 😂A lot of location ideas come from google image search plus hours on google maps & there's several good location guides available for different areas of the UK . A love of travel helps as well 😊
Never know that about washing tripod in hot water and the wave @ 4:13 is wonderful. Always strange watching someone vlog then seeing the resulting vlog :) Looking at the vlog thumbnail, I didn't realise I was that close to the sea. Please slap me in future :) Cheers.
I'm full of useless information but occasionally I find a little gem , deep in the recesses of my mind 😊I have it in writing now.......whens the next coastal meet 😂
Great stuff lynne. I have just started blogging as I said before. I need to get more in less time. What do you use to vlog. Even with wind it sounds good. Like the first image the wave is spot on
Hi Paul....another addict in the making to vlogging , already sub'd to your channel 👍Some cracking images from the Vlog meet up , The Shell with the pool of water is a stunner 👍👍
Lynne Luxon-Jones that was an image from the last time I went as explained in vid. I have so many images from all over before I started this vlogging. I may have to do a chat vlog and show some of my work from the past couple years.
Came across this video from Paul Compton Photography's channel! Very cool. I just started a channel for my photography and would love feedback and suggestions. I will subscribe to your channel and look forward to seeing more.
Your tips have probably saved myself and others a lot of grief - great images.
Thanks Dream Catcher :-)

Holy cow, that second last shot in the video is just stunning, Lynne! A great video as ever.
Ohhh , thank you so much Don 😊
Superb shots Lynne. I love seascapes especially when the water is rough. Looking forward to your next location.
Thanks Mark , rough seas always give me a headache....I love milky smooth water but really want to capture the power of the waves as well... decisions decisions 😊
Great continuing series and some lovely shots too. Rocks and water - great to photograph but deadly to walk on.
They sure are .....who'd have thought photography at the coast could be so risky 😊
Nice one Lynne..some nice images captured x
Thanks Steven 😊
Nice work and playing mountain goats at the same time.....😂😂😂😂👍
Lol.....not as nimble or sure footed as the goats but at least i managed to stay upright...just 😂
seascape nice waves, beautiful images and we do enjoy your videos .. no scrapes today :)
Thanks Bob , really appreciate you popping in & glad you're enjoying my little channel.....even without scrapes 😊
Great video Lynne - some nice tips and insights here. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for stopping by & watching James , really appreciate your kind words :-)
Some wonderful photography and watch that 7th wave 🌊 lol
Lol...I do but still almost got caught ...😂
Great vlog lynn, awesome long exposure shots ( my favourite). You looked a little wind blown but thats half the fun. Look forward the next one
A little wind blown .....I look like I've been dragged through a hedge backwards most of the time 😂 Yup , long exposures , reflections & the odd lone tree all make me a very happy bunny 😊
Excellent.
Thank you Spitfire 👍

Hey Lynne, nice to se you back. Kimmeridge Bay. Has never been kind to me, mostly due to the weather. Hope the trip went well.
We did have a few weather moments but in the main we were very lucky .There's unfinished business with Kimmeridge so a return trip is def in the planning 👍
Nice Lynne. Always enjoy the views you provide to us. Super tips on cleaning the gear too! Safe travels.

Hi Ian...crikey 49th ?? I get distracted & lose count after 10.....😂 Glad to have been of some use with the gear cleaning tip as well 👍
I have fished off those ledges at Seacombe. Our gear was exactly where yours were! :-)
Great place isn't it , pity there weren't any fishermen there then , would have made a lovely scene 👍
Great job lynne some beautiful shots. Then rocks!! I also like some milky water👍🏻 totally agree with the spray! Arrrrrhhhggggg so annoying lol
Cheers Ninja ......oh, how I laughed whilst cleaning my filters for the 50th time in a day 😂
Lynne Luxon-Jones haha

Nice 👍
Thanks Peter 😊
Lynne, I love your seascape images. You have a true passion and real affinity for the sea and coast.
Thank you Peter, have to admit , being by the coast always feels like home 😊

Fab, love your images, love your style! Even learned something new - great tips.
Thanks Brian , glad to be of help 👍
Lovely images and video as usual, you have a very pleasant manner. You had me counting the waves as you spoke and I had to rewind as I had not been listening to you as well, I clearly can't multi task ha ha.
Thanks Brenda....counting waves , talking & trying to take photos is stretching my multi tasking abilities a bit as well 😂

Hi Adamaj & welcome aboard , thanks for the sub o my little channel , hope you enjoy my travels & waffling 😊
4:22 love the detail of the foreground rocks - makes the shot!
The markings in the rocks were fab, never ceases to amaze me at just how powerful the sea can be 😊
