Without your video we wouldn’t have figured out how to assemble. No instructions came with it. And ps my husband and I barely lifted the head together! Course we are 70+. But again, many thank yous for the video!!
@@ClaridgeLeather How do you tackle that scratch line on the opposite side of the skive? Seen at 5:29 - 5:31 It looks like it's the foot pressing down onto the leather and while it's feeding it's way through it gives that scratch..
A Cobra skiver is definitely the next machine I`ll buy but after buying a Cobra 4 and a Cobra 20 in the last years I have to save up some money. These machines are excellent and the customer service from leathermachineco is great !
I ready to move up too. I can't justify the price so I'm gonna take a chance on a clone on ebay. Under $800 shipped and with servo motor. Just need table. Fingers crossed.
Thanks for your video. Excellent skiving machine, essential tool for leather work. This was set at the factory. After the first sharpening of the bell knife it must be adjusted from the beginning. Be careful with the sharpening of bell knife because the manual doesn't say all the way.
Thanks for the video. Great information. I’m expecting mine to arrive in about a week or 2. Looking forward to getting it, and to your future videos on its use.
Hi Tanner, I enjoy watching your videos ao much, thanks a lot for taking time to make these tutorials. I bought a second hand similar skiving machine and watched many videos on how to ajust it but I am still having troubles getting nice results. Would you be able to do a quick review if your machine and how you change the settings depending on the thickness/type of leather you use on a project? You always give good advice..hope you can find the time for my request!! Thanks in advance!
Tanner, As with all the other comments on here...Thank You and Good Work your doing. I do have some questions for you, if I may. Do you skive both Chrome and Veg Tanned leather with this machine? If so do you run into a problem with either type of leather? Thank You very much for your time and Videos. Ernie D.
Thanks, Gunner- yes, definitely skive both types. Thin, very soft leather is your trickiest (and this isn’t the machine for thick veg tan), but keeping it sharp helps it skive all types of leather really well.
@@ClaridgeLeather thank you very much. Right now 8-9 oz veg is the heaviest in working with. Looking at being able to skive no more than 5-6 oz veg. Keep up the good work on the videos. You do very nice work. Hope it warms up your way
I'd love one of these machines. It would definitely make life easier that's for sure, but I've no where to put such a machine where I work as space is limited.
I unboxed mine just as you said, but when I went to skive, the axil that the stone rests on was grinding against my blade and didn’t realize until it was too late.
I am thinking of buying just the bell knife head from China for about USD350 and mounting it to a sewing machine table very similar to the one you have for your Zoje sewing machine. How possible would it be for you to mount your NP-4 to that table? Could you make the belt configuration work?

So cool to hear that! I am so glad it was helpful! Enjoy the new tool! Thank you for watching!
"It's a big hunk of steel and I like that." Thanks for all you're doing Tanner! Very helpful video.
Ha ha... heavy tools are better than light ones, every time. Thanks for watching, my friend!
This is gonna be my next machine purchase.
Ooh, nice! I hear it becomes pretty indispensable once it finally makes its way into your shop!
Nice work again Tanner! Setting these up can be daunting. This will help loads of people!
Thanks so much! I hope it’s helpful!

I have certainly found that to be true about LMC's customer service!
That looks like a game changer - what a quality machine!
I think it will be... can’t wait to crank through that first bag! Thanks for watching, Ethan!
I really need one of these. I will have to settle and buy a french skiver. So fun to watch. Thanks for sharing..
French skivers are a great way to go too... add this to the “someday” list! 😀
@@ClaridgeLeather any recommendations?

Thanks so much for this great video, I am not ready yet to afford a skiving machine, but it is on top of my list.
Thanks for watching! I hear you... this was on my list for a few years as well. Happy crafting!

Nice, Joe! That is exciting! Have fun with it, and let us know what you make!

Very nice information and I like the way of presenting very much.
Thank you.

Thanks, Anton! I appreciate that!
Great video. Sweet machine. Thanks for sharing. Davin
I appreciate you watching, Davin! Cheers!
Thanks for sharing video,
how can we avoid of marking presser foot to leather; especially on vegtanned leather
Good review, going to get one soon
I’ll take one too! 🙋🏽♂️ haha, awesome machine, hopefully in the near future i can get one..
Ha ha... it's been on my "someday" list for a long time! Cheers!!!
Have you found the upper limit of how thick leather you can skive? I'm deciding between a np4 and np10. THANKS!

I feel you! I've only recently been able to have a little larger space like this. Happy crafting, Paul!
In the same boat - finances also a bit of a problem. So i will just drool watching all the vids with people able to have and use them lol!
Have you tried a rubber feed roller yet? I've read that they work better with leather.
hi thanks for the video
I have noticed that the presser foot marked the grain side of the leather and i face the same problem , hiw can this befixed

Gotta get that
Are u able to dial it in so the presser foot doesnt leave that ugly line of finished side?
and cordwainers around?
Are you one? Fascinating stuff!
@@ClaridgeLeather no looking for one though
