Super video. I think it's great that 50 year old, well-built and well maintained locomotives are still in service. If we are serious about conservation, we need to get out of the habit of discarding things just because they are old and get as much use out of objects as possible.
Thanks! The could use indeed some TLC.... But I'm afraid this will not happen. Slowly the locomotives are being replaced by the Stadler trains unfortunnaly.... The typical swiss trains with locomotive and diverse wagons will be history in the future... Hopefully I'm wrong....🙏🤞
@@TrainJJ The SBB is offering to sell some of these excess Re4/4s, but at 450,000 Sfr each, they're way too expensive. Many are being scrapped - I noticed dozens lined up in Lausanne when I was last in Switzerland in 2019.
@@davidpenney4171 Hi, thats a serious price indeed.... Of course time is moving on and old needs to be replaced by new, but these locomotives are part of the great history of the swiss railways. I was in Arth Goldau last weekend and I didn't see any passenger train with an Re 4/4 II (Re 420) anymore.... The Stadler and Bombardier trains are fully taking over....😬
