Can't beat a big bike, but in the Philippines almost pointless with how busy roads are, pot holes and all the other dangers awaiting you here! Better off with what locals use far more practical and when you bin it, that's inevitable here it won't break the bank.
Yes, just a scooter. You will never pass 50mph in the Philippines . Dogs, people, rice drying on the right lane of a four lane highway. Trikes making U turns in the middle of the road in traffic, etc, etc.
In 55+ years of riding bikes, I have owned ONE, and ONLY one, Harley. It was in the late 1970s under AMF ownership....you know, that bowling ball company that wanted to try their hand at owning a motorcycle icon....and almost ran HD completely out of business. After a couple horrible years of owning that thing, I sold it. It kept breaking down out in the middle of nowhere, long before cellphones, and I vowed I would never buy another HD. I have been buying Honda's and Kawasaki's ever since then. They have NEVER left me broken down on the side of the road, EVER, and they cost a LOT less to insure, less for parts, less likely to be stolen, etc. Most of my friends ride Harleys, and they still have issues and cost a fortune to maintain. One my riding buddies bought a CVO Road Glide something or other, and spent almost 50 THOUSAND dollars just to buy it off the floor. But it lacked power, etc, and he ended up getting stages 1, 2, 3, and 4. That cost him almost 20 grand on top of the cost of the bike. We're talking 70 THOUSAND dollars to own a mediocre bike with a fancy name. Come on, we are talking about nothing more that two wheels, motor, and a frame, not a dang Lamborghini!!! I hold the view that my butt cannot read, so what do I care, as long as I'm having fun riding 1000 miles in a day type of rides, and not breaking down, what the sticker on the side of the tank reads? I think that HD has just gotten too big for their britches and are starting to lose diehard customers. I better stop my rant or I will only make Harley fan boys upset. Ride what you WANT to ride, not what your ego, or peer pressure, tells you to ride. Hahahaha Good video, always thumbs up.
H.D. has certainly gone downhill since the 50s 60s 70s . 53 pan , 71 shovelhead and a Heritage of which I can't remember the year but loved them all. After almost done in by a tourist I decided no more bikes for me but interesting how things have changed. Thanks for sharing Aloha
I apologize just googled it , Harleys are making a comeback they are now the 5th most reliable motorcycle made , in the last few years they have moved way up the list . I think its possible because maybe more of the parts are made overseas now. Thats great nice to see a US product making a comeback.
Hi Brian. It was great to finally say hello to you this morning (early) while walking past Tequila Reef. I was just about to leave for La Union, after staying at Wild Orchid Lagoon Resort. Cheers! - Craig (from Brisbane, Australia).
What about the noise ordinance? I was told I couldn’t ride a Honda Shadow in Anunas by the barangay captain because the pipes scared the kids. My Harley would shake the province.
Real nice video Brian, but wow those prices!! I was out for a short walk just before Christmas (live about a quarter of a mile from there in the Azure North Residences) and while out looking at the Christmas lights up in that area I noticed the dealerships down that side street.
i love watching your videos sir, cause i’m learning basic english from you couz of your clear accent, and filipino knows that if somebody can able to speak in english fluently theres a big chance for him/her to get hired in BPO, because that’s what everybody here is wishing about, cause it is the only job that has a high compensation, even though you just graduate highschool as long as you can able to speak fluently in english you’ll be get hired
Very nice video Brian, I have a Yamaha XVSA650A, I wouldn’t mine to know how popular these are in Phil’s , please give us some more prices for the big boys on two wheels
For your viewers who don't know, the Philippines has very high taxes on Electronics cars and motorcycles, for example My Samsung fold 4 cost about 250 usd more here than in the US The harley Fat Bob shown here is about 7k used cheaper in the US This goes for laptops and TVs also, so if you can buy laptops and unlocked phones in the US to use here
Everywhere except the US gets screwed..Im in Canada right next door and were paying more then those filipino prices.Thats probably why Harley is doing so terribly on the international stage..
Brian, a 2023 HD road glide, _27999.00!!! Yep, a little difference 😂. Great vidio. I think its great though a HD dealer in the Philippines!!!! The roads and traffic there on a Harley???? Where are you going to get out of 2nd gear!!!? LOL
Nice walk again. Bloke I knew in Maryborough Vic back in the late 80s, stated saving at age 8 for a Harley. on his 43rd birthday he paid $12,000aud for one from the Harley Dealer in Geelong. Nice goin m8, I enjoyed that walk.
You can get a FEW Japanese Dual Sport bikes that can GO ANYWHERE on and off road for the price of a Harley..and in my opinion a 400cc single is more than enough power for Philippines terrain..The HD brand name is EXOTIC so that's what you are really paying for NOT that its built any better than other makes of bikes.
Never been a fan of Harleys but those prices could tempt anyone!! Being a Brit I'm more towards Triumph and most of the Japanese bikes ... Take me to that Triumph dealer soon as you can Brian 😁
After such a test drive it would be appropriate having a little padded room to seclude oneself for a few moments - once the adrenaline drops down and the memories of previously seen price tags come back.
My 2007 Electric Glide Classic cost me $18,000, full chrome. Still runs like new.. Not a speck of rust. If I was to sell it today at best I can get $9k.. Half of what I paid..
I’m actually pleasantly surprised at the prices. Normally anything imported is taxed to death. I’ll admit I don’t have that much cash to drop on a bike but if I did I’d be riding in style. Maybe after we finish our house build lol.
I saw a Caucasian guy riding a Harley in my province. He turned into a Filipino military compound so I wondered if he was military on special assignment and brought the bike with him?
Best i calculate, the Prices showing us are marked up on average, 32 to 38% from prices here in the US for 2023 models. You are not going to import your own Bike cheaper than buying it there.
If you think they're expensive check out a JEEP Dealership. The import taxes are off the charts and it's what's killing the trade market over here in the Philippines.
Those prices are in line with what they're selling for here in Arizona. The real expense comes when you get them out the door. Harley's are famous for nickel and dime'n you into the poor house. That's why they're called hogs.
What you can count on if you own a HARLEY you will get to be very close with your mechanic , they are junk your paying for the name. Google they are not ranked very good.
Harley sends most of their bikes overseas because they know overseas people are more willing to overpay just to get a Harley, to them a Harley represents a piece of America, the American dream, and they'll pay whatever amount of money it takes to own one - and they know here in the US people will try to deal, try to haggle to get the lowest price they can
Hey Phil, black bikes look good with a lot of chrome to contrast the black. Problem is, black bikes and especially seats, get hot as hell in the sunlight. Question, where is San Fernando? What city, province? I’ll be in Mindanao in April and would like to check them out. No Street Glides on display? Road Glide has the “shark nose fairing attached to the frame so the headlights don’t track the turns well. Street Glide batwing fairing is attached to the forks and the lights project into the turns with the forks. Anyways, thanks for the great video. Please keep them coming.
thats on par with the prices in the states last bike i bought was over 40 grand full bagger the smaller bikes are just to big for here if you lived wey out in the province or bolhol where traffic aint so bad id would buy one.

I think a scrambler style triumph would fit the roads better and a side car detachable too. It would be the limo of the trikes! You need to stretch a Harley’s legs. Those roads! No way! If you can do the same at the other makes we would appreciate it!

I thought about bringing my Kawasaki Vulcan over here, but renting a scooter and actually riding here a quickly changed my mind, roads, drivers, pedestrians, too many hazards.
