When using your kickstand pad I use parachute cord and tie it around the handlebar clutch lever so when I lean the bike up I can pull the kickstand pad up without bending over
Great tip!
This also helps keep from leaving your kickstand puck, or dropping the bike while trying to pick it up.
I just welded the pad to the kickstand. Got tired of reaching down for the puck.
This is true I got this from Robert Simmons.
Great idea. I hadn’t thought about picking it up. There’s no way I could reach down for it!
So true on the parking been riding 56 years and have always parked this way...
Thanks for watching
Congratulations on your recognition by HD Corporate. You’re a great ambassador as well as your Dad!
Good tips! I think it’s also good to be coming out of a spot under power vs. trying to back your bike out when people aren’t paying attention!
Good advice for new and old riders. You have a blessed day, too.
Great advice, most I’ve thought of, but the oil advice was one I didn’t. Always appreciate these tips. Always something to learn
You on point with this one a coworker came to my office and said someone almost hit my bike at work I pulled to far in and they thought the spot was empty
I've almost done it myself in my truck. I'm glad they didn't hit it
Thanks for watching
I’ve been binge watching all your videos for the last 2 nights. Absolutely Awesome!!! Congratulations on you and your Fathers placement on the HD website. There has to be some sort of historical significance to that achievement. Truly Amazing! You now have me for the first time in my life looking at Street and Road Glides being 6’ 6” myself. Your content has shown me that it is possible to fit with a few alterations. I can see you in the future having a partnership to have HD produce the first bike for riders 6’5”+. Introducing the “Tall Glide ST”! Thank you for all of the information and continued Blessings to you and your Family. 🙏🏾
Thank you, hopefully Harley-Davidson sees this comment 😆 The Tall edition Street Glide it has a nice ring to it. 😆 Thanks for watching
Same!
Knowledge is power,been there,done that🧐
Thanks for all your videos I bought me a Harley breakout this year thanks to your content… for what it’s worth thanks. Ben
Very true. One time I parked my cbr 1000 on a dirt soft spot, overnight the kickstand hed sunken in a tip over😮
I made the mistake of driving my bike to a Costco. As I me and my wife were walking away, I looked back only to see a Lady look directly at my bike with her now empty Cart in hand and fired it directly at my bike. Thank God I was close enough to run back and stop the Cart from hitting my bike. Needless to say I had a few choice words for her laziness in not returning the Cart to where it belonged and then fired it back at her car and asked her how that feels. She returned the Cart to the Cart holding area. I educated her on her not getting someone as patient as I am next time. People do dumb stuff. I got to get me one of those Pucks for my Streetglide. Thanks for the info
I always try to park to where I don't have to use my legs to, "back myself out," of a parking spot. That's why I park out like you. Thanks Tall.
Great video. I always park like you do toward the front of a parking spot regardless on what cars are on either side of me
Thanks for watching
I have not gotten my bike yet but am thankful for all the information..
Tall that bike sounds amazing!
Very good my friend, VERY GOOD
That is a good looking bike. Very nice!
Good tips and demonstration! Thanks
I want to add use your fork lock, and consider the double alarm thingy from "Frank The Real Biker". This motion alarm is an easy install, and is twice as loud as the factory motion alarm, plug and play.
Great video Tall. Good information for all!
Thanks for watching
I always park with my front wheel pointing uphill.
Bravo 👏. This video had to be done and should be shown to all new riders before the rest of us have to help them pick up their bikes 😓
This is great video thanks so much, I’m a newer rider and learn a lot from your videos
Excellent!!! Been riding Harley for (wait for it) started at 17 and I'm 67 now not bragging but just to affirm how good your information is. Especially an older person getting a full dresser, your lessons will save them a lot of damage. Hope they practice your methods in a parking lot. Thanks again
Good advice! I try to pick a spot by a light pole, way out there.
Some great tips there! Thanks!
Well I have to say, I am impressed!! I have been riding for 20 plus years and never really thought of bike placement in a parking spot on a level lot. So I can say I have learned something today!! Thank you.
I'm about to by my first bike. A 2023 Heritage Classic Anniversary. I want to thank you for your videos. I learned a great deal. And for a new rider, you make it easily digestible to understand. Thanks
Great idea i park like that too
excellent information. Especially about leaking fluids. Driving out is always better than backing out with anything you drive.
Great advice. I’ve used many of these techniques.......been riding 50 years. All new riders should watch your vids. Ride safe Brother!
Thank you, Tall. All great advice. I"m 75, (thanking the lord - still gliding) - I do all those things and glad your sharing the info. The one other reason its good to pull the bike front tire up to the pull in of the parking spot is sometimes cars backup in the back free space behind you and can back in to your bike not seeing the bike too..
Great Video Tall!!!
Great video very helpful and informative....see ya in Daytona
Great points
Good tips Tall. Keep them coming. There are a lot of new riders viewing your videos. Sometimes, we get caught up in the excitement of riding and never think about these things. Congrats on your new venture with Harley Davidson! Cool having your Dad with you as well.
Agreed, I'm one of them..
Good information, thanks TT!
I park the bike just like you Tall, leave it in gear. Absolutely.✌🏿👍🏾
Good comments
👍
Pretty slick video man thanks
Nice video!
Thanks!
Thank you so much for your videos! I appreciate them all😮 7:39 7:40
Great information ℹ️
Great!! Thank you!!
Tie a piece of dry line to your parking puck , make it long eough to reach your handle bar , pull puck up with line , no leaning . Stand bike up , raise jiffy stand , pull puck up with line , wrap line around puck before shoving it into storage
Thanks Tall! Great advice, as always.
Great video again Tall, however when i need to lock my front wheel i have to turn it to the left. All of your tips is what i do when i park both of my bikes. Keep on providing all of these valuable tips ✌🏾✌🏾
Thanks for the tips. Didn't think of the car oil leaks , parking on soft surfaces....good ones!.
Thanks for watching
Great information
Park forward like that unless there's other riders with me, then depending on how many riders, we park all the way back in pairs side by side.
Great information Tall! I always keep a puck in the bag...and not just for soft or wet ground. I don't know how common this is because I've only had it happen once (so far). Last summer a group of us went on a trip. It was one of those "almost too humid and hot to ride days". That afternoon, we stopped for about an hour to get something to eat. The parking lot was asphalt so I didn't think anything about it when I put the kickstand down. When we came back out to the bikes, the asphalt had gotten so hot and soft that two of the bikes kickstands and front tires had melted down into it. They were leaning so bad I don't know how they hadn't already fallen over. Depending on how hot it is, I use a puck on asphalt too. Take it easy and be safe out there!
I do the same thing cause of the exact same experience
Before I knew about the pucks I used a large brake pad from my car . Especially on hot black top as well as dirt and gravel
On a hot day, use your parking puck on the asphalt…it ground can heat up and the weight of your bike can cause the kickstand to dig in and the bike can potentially fall over
TY, great common sense tips!
First like✊🏾💯
Great tips. I might add to look for sand or loose rocks, cans, etc on the ground. This goes for parking and maneuvering the bike. I’ve had my foot slip while maneuvering the bike and it’s a moment of terror.
Great reminder on parking tips!! Almost got my bike hit because of pulling in too far in a parking spot.
Thanks for watching.
Great tips! Been there too with the gloves when I had my Sportster. Now on a Goldwing and I have an aftermarket kickstand pad to widen it by an inch or two. Thank you for making these videos. I truly enjoy your content.
You got to use what you got, and gloves is all I had. Thanks for watching
That looked like perfect riding weather!
Very good points, just plain common sense! Thanks for sharing 👍
Thanks for watching!
I found out the hard way you should use your parking puck on black top on a real hot day...yeah lucky no damage
Yes, I forgot about that one. I've had kick stand sink in hot asphalt before.
Another excellent info video.
Been parking that way for decades, now....
Thanks ! I'll keep watching....
I'm new...that is a great video! Thanks.
Good report
Spot on Tall. Always informative. Enjoyed.
Very good advice. Thanks!
Great tips!
Yes
Good information
another key thing about staying away from the front is those that love to cross over that white line into the spot in front of them at times as well. pulling out though is always easier than backing up even if you're in a car.
Some good pointers, thanks Tall.
I parked my bike at the back of a parking spot at work last summer and someone backed in my spot and pushed my bike all the way in the grass. Didn’t hurt much just dented the fender a little. Thank god.
Was they trying to park there or just backed into it
@@TravelingTall they were parking there. The one that did it came and told me I went out and parked in a different spot. I never park in a parking spot at work anymore. I have a special place i park now where nobody can park by me
Great points on parking thank you for sharing
Well shot video (with intelligible audio) and informative. Having just come back to a touring bike after a few years on a Dyna Wide Glide it is good to have a refresher on how a 200+kg bike needs to be parked.
Great tips
You are so right on parking in a lot, especially at work. Someone at work hit my park because I had it parked to the front of space. I was pissed! Fender jacked’ up, new front wheel needed, just upsetting to say the least. Since that time 2011, never parked like that again.
I can't see anything different from what I'm doing. Thanks for the refresher !!
Great tips! Parking our motorcycle is my biggest concern of something happening to it. Whether it be someone deciding to risk their life and touch it (lol) or like you mentioned, another vehicle hitting it.
Cardboard rolled up
Works well😊
Keeping the bike straight when parked, someone can get on it, put it in neutral and roll the bike compared to keeping the wheel turned to the left where they can’t roll it. I care care about looks. I don’t want anyone trying to roll my bike in a parking lot. It also makes it a lot easier to steal And roll up on a trailer.
Great video Tall… may God bless you and your family
Thank you so much
Good show, good info TALL. !!!!
This is a good subject that is VERY helpful to new& old riders. If I had had this at the beginning I would have saved myself a LOT of embarrassing situations. THX for sharing !
Tall, you and I have the same thoughts about our bike! #streetglidegang
I’m running a penny farthing front wheel, looks really nice, a bit hard to ride though.
I like your parking comment on kick stands on solf surfaces. Water bottle as a substitute to put your kick stand on. Living in Texas Dersert. Us bikers do park on sand surfaces at times. And it can be a problem with kick stands and the weight of your motor bike sinking in deep or even falling.
Great video
Awesome video ride safe and enjoy. Always enjoy watching tall.
We also park closer to one side on our bikes at work. On many occasions we have parked 4 bikes in one parking spot. Because we all arrive and leave at the same time.
Excellent video! Great advise! Good job my man!
Good tips! Say, I know it's early, but are you planning another 'Run to the Hills' in June?
Also if you can't get it up off the jiffy stand and you turn your wheel to the right and what not if you put your left hand under the gas tank to help you pick it up it's a lot easier... Just food for thought..
I always have a kickstand/jiffy-stand puck in my left saddlebag with some high vis string tied to it and I loop it around my left mirror. That way when I go to leave I just stand the bike up, pull the string to pick the puck up and toss it in my saddlebag.
This video will help me
For me I always pick the bike up standing up I’m over 6ft so I’ve never gotten on a bike that felt better picking it up sitting down and it’s probably what I’m used to
I park the same way you do for the same reasons with both my motorcycle and my tiny Mazda Miata. Let’s be honest, any person who’s gonna hit your vehicle because it’s a little back in a parking spot shouldn’t be operating a motor vehicle.
I always park head out both car and bike . I park far away from everyone .Wheel locked hopefully some fun guy does want to sit on my bike .
Some great tips. I bought two of the jiffy stand coasters, one to use when I park in my garage and one to leave in the saddle bag. There is a small hole in the coaster you could tie a string to help with retrieval. Thank you for the video
Great tips! Been riding for many years, always park it in gear and take out the play. Most of it I knew from those years, but the grease spot parking mitigation was a new one, I'll park toward the end in the future. What you're doing is excellent for new riders and there's usually something for the more experienced too. Thanks!
