Jerry plays Pops! My two all-time favorites collide. On the 25th anniversary of Jerry's passing I am forever grateful for the Wonderful World of music that Jerry gave us all.
Me too. This was my Dad’s favorite song. When I heard this for the first time, I rushed to show it to my Dad. I think he finally understood my love “Uncle Jerry” and then he wanted to hear more “Garcia”. My old man wasn’t perfect, but he perfect to me.
What a fantastic post! Thank you for putting it up. Jerry has great taste in music and his selections and superb renditions. love the piano solo y Bruce! not long enough. The JGB gave as much as the Dead. love all you guys....!! saw my first show in 1973 and was immediately smitten. my college roommate said I was "Garciafied" and I was. I met Jerry in 1978 in Santa Barbara. He is kind and funny, really is kind of a nerd! I say it in all loving kindness. I saw a film with him, The Buddy Holly Story had just come out. it was great grate fun being with him. Love and miss you, Jerry. I hope to see you on the other side.💋
I see trees of green Red roses too I see them bloom For me and you And I think to myself What a wonderful world I see skies of blue And clouds of white The bright blessed day The dark sacred night And I think to myself What a wonderful world The colors of the rainbow So pretty in the sky Are also on the faces Of people going by I see friends shaking hands Saying, "How do you do?" They're really saying "I love you" I hear babies cry I watch them grow They'll learn much more Than I'll never know And I think to myself What a wonderful world Yes, I think to myself What a wonderful world Oh yeah
i Am just hoping you got a band up in heaven cause ill be there soon my old friend we can jam again thank you so much for changing my life Jerry I love you you are so missed here
It's strange how I love the dead even more each year which slowly burns down the giant Doobie which is my life... cheers and much gratitude to OG Yolo and the old-school tapers much love thank you
some of my fondest memories are seeing j.g.b. @ the keystone ,berkeley, where I lived...78...79.reconstruction...80.81 ..Jerry band... so mellow and so few people, very quant..jerry, would walk right to the stage from the green room.
did not od and lived many years more, until fairly recently, John Kahn, I,d need lookup to see exactly....Was an incredible musician and gave world a gift that'll last forever --his work
This was a great little tour. After Bill Graham died just before the Dead's Halloween shows we needed to hit the road. The highlights were the blusey Lay Down Sally in Milwaukee and the rare Jerry Band encore in Minneapolis.
I saw Jerry and his band play this in 'Rochester New York about this time. My son was with me. Wish there was a video of that concert. Jerry closed the show with that song RIP Jerry.
I was there...and yeah..beauty for the ears that can hardly be described as the last song of a JGB show....if you are not tearing up, then you are probably not human
karen, i'm a friend of yours, but i can't use my real name cuz it's embarrassing, but as a friend i feel i have to tell you this. i'm trying to help. here goes: you're always forgetting to wipe your ass, and people can tell
Dear Jerry when you left this planet i was so sad but dont blame you it kinda sucks here espessialy without you Bob and the crew keeping it going but not the same i want to be with you man im getting old and they might have donald trump as pres of the states its gotten very weird you would love to hate it been a crazy life miss my moments with you back stage and at the sweetwater in old mill valley they were great days love you so much bro miss you even more WHAT a WONDERFUL WORLD hope they have internet in heaven and you can read this will be there when my time is up and hope to shake your hand again LOVE YOU
This video had me in tears and I wasn't even around for Jerry. Jerry could change this world because I know he wouldn't be happy with what's going on, Its such a shame that a legend like him was taken from us. He was so influential and his music changed me and I feel like it changes everyone. You're a lucky man to have met Jerry and spent time with him.
Saw him close the show in Rochester NY with this song. Sometime around this date. It was at a venue called a War Memorial. I believe that venue has been replaced. But I remember him. He also played Lucky Old Sun that night . Seems like the bass player OD'd on smack after the tour, memory is unclear. A guy at work told me that. Always liked the Jerry bands. His guitar was the sweetest sound I have ever heard;he could make a bird envious.
I remember walking to the parking lot from our hotel room in the rain with gale force winds.as soon as we arrived people were selling tee shirts, dancing, cooking on hibachis.the inclement weather ceased as soon as we arrived.damnest thing I ever saw.the show was pure magic as Jerry and band were pumped with Hornsby in attendance.we followed them to Charlotte and seemed to be a certain melancholy at that venue in comparison.
I thought that was the case, but was not sure. I enjoyed the jerry band performances more than the GD shows I had the opportunity to see because Jerry had more of a free reign with his skills. We all have a weakness we are susceptible to, I like fresh air and kyndness. What a wonderful world. When it is all said and done it is necessary that we have loved one another and lived together compassionately. Jerry had a soul to share with us. We were lucky he did.
