  • Hi Everyone, welcome to the Ranger Shop!
I created this channel to focus on everything to do with Ford Rangers. I love these little trucks, they are cheap easy to modify and great off road.
Please follow along if you have a Ranger and want to learn about modifying and repairing it.
In this video I will cover installing pillar mounted gauges.
Thanks for watching, we will see you in the next video.

The F-150 Steering Column Gauge Pod fits the Ford Rangers as well. I'm using it for my Transmission Temp Gage

I always have believed you can't have too many gauges. I tend to follow the aircraft lead where possible. Knowing what is going on can forewarn you of problems that might have you stranded alongside the road in a snowstorm or heat wave. However, in the Ranger if it is like my 97, the pillar is a large blind spot especially on winding twisting roads and for that reason I would not bulk it up any more than it already is. Perhaps on top of the dash or in the center of the panel around the radio would be better. At 6' my view is with my head almost touching the ceiling liner so I am looking above those. I was not aware that the gauges were just "on-off" switches. Mine especially in water temp gives a variable reading and the oil sender is also of the potentiometer style, much like the gas gauge where the resistance of the signal changes through the mechanical change in the sender. Maybe the newer models are as you say? I have a hundred and fifty five thousand miles on my pushrod 4.0L V6 4x4 and still going here in Alaska. Trac-lok in both front and rear axles makes it a dream in the snow and ice. Getting ready to do a complete overhaul of the front end suspension as the 'U' joints are shot. It would be nice if someone published a check list of all the odds and ends beside the obvious. Here it is necessary to order online for parts and that can take two or three weeks at best. It would be nice to know that you have remembered all the seals, nuts that need to be replaced, cotter pins, etc. as it seems there is always something that you forget requiring weeks longer to get the project done.

Yeah I’m with you on the gauges, they have already saved my motor ore then once! I sure wish these cabs were a bit taller! 😄

You're making it to all the mods I'm trying to get done much faster than me. Its quite awesome. Very nice truck and very good quality of work. My manual swap video should be up in a couple weeks.

Thanks for sharing your reasoning on why you did these. I've seen these before and didn't understand why someone would want the redundancy and it's good to know that the nuance is granularity in data. Could you do another video explaining the readings and what they would tell you is going on? Also, got a link for the pillar and gauges? Thanks!
