Hey Dungeoncast. I just to tell you guys that your videos/podcast bring me so much joy and give me so many ideas for my current t campaign. Great humor. I've been going through alot lately due to my mother being diagnosed with stomach cancer, car failure, no dental insurance for a wisdom tooth etc. But I'm able to enjoy 30min-1hr a week when you release content on lore and i love it. DnD is such a healthy temporary escape from the real world. About to start listening to your campaigns too. You guys do truly make a difference and your "NERDom" and its awesome. Keep doing what you guys are doing. Hopefully by next month I'll be a patreon supporter for you guys. You 2 are funny AF and great.
dragons are melee bosses for me. They also need to calculate being ambushed in their lair without the advantage of being in the air. That is why my dragons always are built for melee combat. The group thinks the dragon is locked in with them... but in fact they are locked in with him! Add a platform of healing and the dragon becomes unkillable.
Really excited to see more of this color cycle, I love how in depth you go on these creatures while making them easy to understand for an aspiring DM too, keep it up!
Red dragons never fight corporately, at best they might view it as separately attacking the same opponent, even then it would have to be a truly epic enemy such as an ancient Gold or Silver. I suspect that scenario ends with The red killing the other chromatic immediately after.
21:16 There is a dragon like that! In Shadowrun, there is the Megacorp called " Saeder-Krupp " their CEO and Chairman is called Lofwyr and he is a great Western Dragon(Golden Dragon, so no Red,,,,,rip).
"Watch your back, shoot straight, conserve ammo, and never, ever, cut a deal with a dragon." - Shadowrun "Street Proverb". Shadowrun handled dragons just like you guys described and as a cyberpunk fantasy system is not only awesome fun to play but has great lore over dragons returning to a "modern world" where they settle into high government offices, become CEO of corporations or possibly just hide and manipulate things as they wish.
Lofwyr is a dragon in shadowrun. He is he owner of the mega corp Saeder-Krupp (formaly BMW) and thus the wealthiest thing on earth. He is also the primary sorce of the shadow run saying "Never deal with a dragon"
I used a dragonslayer and a second level smite on a red adult last year. I got that good crit and did like 102 damage. The dm said the dragon is leaving after losing and eye and you’ve made a nemesis
I love the idea of summoning fire elementals or the fire aura. Since the legendary actions are kind of weak I like to give them one where they can cast the cantrip that is their element (Firebolt, shocking grasp, poison spray etc etc) at the max level.
Hah, the nat 20 meme. Had a player who tried to convince a king he was to marry the king’s daughter, and nat 20’d the roll. He was arguing it should be a total success. I ended up having the king only flogging him instead of executing him for such a ludicrous attempt.
Can you guys do a video like this on Klauth? For such a famous dragon in the D&D universe, I'm surprised there's no lore/overview video on him anywhere on UA-cam. I can't find one anyhow.
What about a giant tree, like world of Warcraft night elf tree size, that's all burned out and semi hallows huge cavern under it with the dragon inside?
I am LOVING the year of the dragon! But would you all consider an episode on Mystryl/Mystra/Midnight and The Weave? I love the magic lore, but I've only heard it in bits and pieces and I would love a timeline!
I never truly grasped the sheer might that an ancient Red Dragon is capable of wielding until Mathew Mercer talked about them after the Chroma Conclave story arc in the first campaign of Critical Role. Able to go toe to toe with a Gold Dragon? That's nuts on a level that most top level characters won't ever even witness.
i wounder how adventures would stop a cult created by a half red dragon trying to summon tiamat to the prime material plane, getting other draconic sorcerers to perform a ritual to strengthen tiamat to be strong enough to break out of the nine hells
Nat 20 is only an auto success on a To Hit roll. Skill checks and Saves it just means you get they highest number you can get. That doesn't mean it is a success. You as the DM can set the DC to whatever you want.
Great video as usually. Though I have a question: although reds are the "by deafult" greatest of the chromatic ones, is it feasible that the "god-level" schemers green dragons sometimes try to subjugate them (or other dragons in that case) under their will? PS: Hope to see Halfling deities and more halfling videos.
Please do more videos like this I know you've done the 2 videos of each type but a more definitive description of each type would be amazing... and I think you'll find that Bronze dragons are the best!!
Where would Idris Y Ddraig Ghoch sit on the dragon scale? Idris is always a red dragon but is always on the good Welsh side fighting the tyranny of the White dragon representing the Angles and Saxons. I kinda feel like Idris would be somewhere between Gold and Bronze, just being a red color.
I mean you could probably do that fairly easily, just take the ancient red dragon stats and change it around to do lightning damage, and just say this is a particularly powerful blue dragon.
@@InquisitorThomas That's a good point. Didnt Express it right but I'm thinking how good it would be for flavor because they arent any one type of true dragon. Or imagine somehow chromatic and metallic mixing. Just would be a cool addition
