    Cold Day In Hell
If Moses had heard about this one there would've been another commandment:
"Thou shalt not slaver on thine cadaver whilst all thine fat is in the fire"
This isn't the melody that lingers on, it's the malady that malingers on
There's the devil to pay - he can keep the change - I can't stand the thought of another cold day...
    I ain't got a chinaman's chance in limbo
Mass breathing, mass seething, mass bleeding, mass seeding, mass debating
Mass existence is the cause of my problems, gotta choose between suicide and genocide
I've been impaled by the sins of World War Two
Can't sleep for the skins of six million jews
I'd join the Ku Klux Klan just to get the uniform - or a good night's sleep ….
    All hell breaks loose
The jig is up - my fate is sealed
I’m stood at the gallows again
The inscription on my tombstone reads “wish you were here”
I died every night for a thousand years
The tearing of my fleas - The thud of my carcass
    The rhythmic crunch of bone
Crucifixion is my addiction... I spent a month of Sundays in a cold day in hell
When it's one man against the world, I shouldn't have so much time to complain
I found there was a hole in my spiritual parachute after I jumped from the astral plain
No escape from four stone slimy walls I built up while trying to knock them down
Death warrant death watch death rattle death’s door - ain't I died enough before?
Deliver me from this treachery... Deliver me from this agony
Stop trying to make a man of me... I ain't got the raw materials, see?
I'm a killer with a label and a blueprint of Babel and all of my death cards are on the table
I met my maker and I don't like what I see... Medusa is fondling me
Blut und boten are strictly verboten, it's a classic case of mort subite
But what I thought was the quickest solution turned out to be satanic destiny
    All hell breaks loose
The jig is up - my fate is sealed ,
I’m stood on the gallows again
The inscription on my tombstone reads “which you were here“
I died every night for a thousand years
The tearing of my flesh - the thud of my carcass
    The rhythmic crunch of bone
    Crucifixion is my addiction...
I spent a month of Sundays in a cold day in hell

One of my all-time favorites of Thirlwell since 1987, and this is just an amazing version!

Oh, I definitely know how lucky I was to be there. I came in all the way from Montreal to see this. They added a second show so I changed my travel plans just to see this twice.

Why are there so few people who 'get' Foetus? I am endlessly flabbergasted.

Honestly, I think JGT made some kind of deal with the devil for a ton of creativity... but the rub ended up being, he didn't get the recognition he deserved for it. Even nerds that don't listen to music really fell in love with his Venture Bros. soundtracks. LOVE everything he does.

Jim should have gotten all the recognition and acclaim Trent Reznor got. Not to knock NIN, but Foetus has always been on a completely different level, musically and lyrically.

Amazing. This is one of my Foetus' favourite song and this version shows again how good is Thirlwell at songwriting. Still an inspiration in his own peculiar way.

Wonderful... I've always felt a bit in the minority for being a fan of Jim and all his Foetus incarnations... only got to see him live a few times but spin the vinyl often.... and loud!!

Upon it's release, Jeff listened to NAIL twice a day for 2 years straight. No wonder he's so cranky.

This one is from HOLE, actually. Listening for 2 years to thát album would have sent him straight to the mindwarp pavilion, so turned on.

@@rudimentaal Hi, rudimental! Jeff is still hangin' out in the mindwarp pavillion, and Bewlay Brothers happens to be his favorite Bowie song. Talk about NAILing it!

@@HyperbubbleTV Hi Bubbles, you hit the nail as well, those mid-eighties albums were instrumental in uncovering my bipolar, unquiet mind. I remember JGT describing in an interview (circa 1985) his die-hard fans as the kind of weird kids that irritate you in your class in school. I always felt I had to be one of them. Jeff as well? Anyway, what a great performance, let's not forget, thirty five years after the crime.

I love this very, very much. Maybe the best of all Sawdust performances, I don know. The acoustic ensemble emphasizes JGT's spleenful mood. I haven't seen anybody here begging for favorite songs in future ensemble performances, btw. Let me be the first and the last. Mr. Thirlwell, would you do JQ MURDER with this ensemble and murder my melancholia simultaneously? No correspondence will be entered.

he'll respond if you email him. i asked him for some lyrics to go on genius.com. hes very cool and nice. im not gonna give out his email address (hint: its on the back of the BLOW remix album)

@@johnb5057 Thank you for your kind words. Actually, I would be embarrassed with a response from the maestro because my question is ridiculous. GQ MURDER is a song that fits not at all in this subtle orchestral context. Which context would? The remastered ACHE (2021) may bring us closer. And btw, now and then a few words are exchanged, kind words, fortunately.
