I finally picked up a cassette rack for storing loose Genesis carts. It also works perfect for Master System and even Famicom games. Definitely buy one of you come across one.
I almost mentioned that but decided to just focus on the cassettes. Thanks for bringing that up! Pinned!
I'm now inspired to clean up one I found in my garage!
Genesis games will fit in a cassette case?
Yes! And Master System carts.
*Cassette display shelving, not the plastic cases
You always have genius display ideas.
Well I can't take the credit, but thank you! I mean if you have a collection, you might as well display it well
@seejayare
Wow that was awesome! Kinda makes me sad I don't really like any GameBoy games...
Someone should make 3d printed inserts to hold the game.
There are cassette boxes that don't have pegs
Oh yeah! That’s a great point!
Oh, thank GOD. This is super useful! My GBA games are all in pretty random DS boxes. Super Mario Advance 2: Super Mario World in New Super Mario Bros, NES Classics Legend of Zelda in Dragon Quest IX and Army Men Advance in Ultimate Mortal Kombat. Not good enough. This should be useful. Thanks!
Hi Nescomplex. Could you share a update of the covers you have made for gb gbc gba in the link descriptions? Thanks, love this vid and your channel. Love ❤️
Interesting. Hmmmmm 👍🙂Nice video. Its amazing what you can do with a cassette case.Yeah I agree , those cassette racks can be costly.
I just wonder: Is there something similar to storing nes/snes/n64 games?
My problem is i want to keep the games and the manuals together. So I probably wont do this. But i like the idea!
Well, I've found my next project!
My poor Gameboy and Game Gears games are sitting in a lunchbox atm 🤣
So I was just watching random videos, and found this in my recommendations by sheer coincidence. Man, what a great coincidence this was!! I love this idea so much, everything just fits like a glove, all while looking so cool and stylish~!!
Game display projects like these are something I love, and I can't wait to see more like this from you. You just got a new sub~!! ^w^
what happens with thecoverproject page?
This video just gave me a HUGE reason to start gameboy collecting
I've done this but need to invest in a computer/laptop glossy card paper and printer you can buy inc for 😂 I've made covers at the library on A4 and used box tape but need better quality they look ok but I think we all now 😂
So I found that if you print using a Mac and opening the PowerPoint file in Keynote you should print to PDF first. Then open the PDF and in the print option of the PDF scale to 74% seems to fit the cassette cases perfect. Took me about 10 test prints to figure that out. Hope it helps others. Thanks for doing this video!!!!
Also you can get 3/4" felt furniture feet to cover the part you have to snip off. It looks a little better than a square cover and fits perfect over the spindle holder you need to cut off. www.amazon.com/Shepherd-Hardware-9861-Self-Adhesive-Furniture/dp/B00FFY9R0U/ref=sr_1_9?keywords=felt+feet+for+chairs+round+3%2F4in&qid=1558837413&s=gateway&sr=8-9#customerReviews
Because I am a geek I scanned the barcode on Kirby's dream land with the amazon app and it gave me American gladiators for the SNES.
Mate, thank you so much for that. Your powerpoint is lovely, and so easy to use for the games you didn't have in it. Excellent work!
Man that looks great for Turbo games!
Crazy what a great idea 💚 Of course this is exactly the solution for my hobby collection. Thanks and best regards from Austria, Thumpfy
This is genius, as a kid I found an old cassette storage rack my parents had and we’re going to throw out so I just used it to store my N64 and GB, GBC, and GBA games. Never figured to use the actual cassette containers for the games, time to finish what I started, TY!
That is one helluva labor of love. The end result is awesome but I have to be honest there is no way I am doing that for myself.
Hahaha! I love doing projects like that
That is a more better way for your games tubs to be sideways with cassettes.
Lol. That’s what I do
What brilliant music track is playing during the end credits?
Don't know if he answered but Castlevania 3:Flashback
@@CAPCOM784 thank you!!
Here's an idea.
Why not make a binder for gameboy/color games?
I've just been buying cassette cases from Goodwill, $1 each xD. But I did find an old VHS drawer that is perfect for console cartridge games like N64/SNES/NES/etc
Additionally I've seen 3d printing an insert to further hold the gameboy games from slipping around.
What about N64 games? And SNES? I have a bunch of loose cartridges I don't know how to display!
These look pretty cool.
I saw a post on Twitter with these & I asked about them & they sent me a link to this channel.
I have some Game Boy, Game Boy Color & Game Boy Advance games in Nintendo DS style cases, but I will consider doing this style for some games.
Amazing way to display these badboys, GREAT VIDEO!!!!
We use Zippo acrylic display cases. Tobacco and cigar shops with Zippos get new cases and they just toss or store the old ones. We got the tall light up one that rotates and the top with Zippo on all sides can be covered in vinyl to say Nintendo!
Holds over 80 small carts for all GB ,DS,Switch, etc…
Mr Complex, lol. Question for you; I am following your tutorial here for this genius storage idea and I have quite a few games that are not in your templates. I pull the images off cover project, size them, and put them in the power point template you graciously provided. But, don't know where you got the small back strip with the barcode. Can you assist with that? Thank you.
This is genius
this is my pref but for GB, GBA, GBC ,DS and any loose Handheld games and cards i use nintendo switch replacement case , the games fit perfect and i just like the way it looks
Too much work and too costly for my Game Boy/Game Boy Color/Game Boy Advance collection. I just purchased those clear protective plastic game cases sold at retro stores for a dollar each and used that to protect the games that come in cardboard boxes. It does the job.
Good idea though. Never thought of that, but too much work and too much money for me to do.
NYCJoeBlack if you are willing to get up at 6 or 7 am on a saterday and go looking around your town lots of people like to put junk on there lawn and have people pay them next to nothing for whatever they have put out there. Sometime you can find cassettes and cassette racks for dirt cheap
I’m confused, I followed the PowerPoint t settings to a T and used your templates (thank you) but they print tiny in the middle of the page ..
great video and very cool idea, but not everybody knows how to make a template and move everything around so it fits perfectly like you say. Could you possibly make a video on how you make your templates. I mean a step by step guide. I would like to do this but I am struggling beyond belief over here. I have hundreds of games to do. I don't know what I'm going to do if you don't respond. Thanks.
Hopefully this link works. I recently found or made covers for all of my game boy games. I put them all in this Dropbox link if anyone wants them. Some are sized differently than others so you need to play around with scaling when you print them. Let me know if for some reason you can't view the files. www.dropbox.com/sh/1npch51usv3crp6/AACAcqtJnl8kI2Lnx1ZG4Zrza?dl=0
Kann you give me an link for your displays. I can't find them. Thx
Awesome. Earned yourself a sub. Thanks for bringing this idea and growing it!
You can also tear the pegs off by heating them with a lighter and then cutting them with scissors. Very easy, leaves little damage, just let it dry for a few minutes before getting the display ready. If there's no heat on it, the pegs will be very hard to cut/clip. Just some advice for people without clippers.
hi just wondering if your able to to an update on how to do make gbc/gb/gba covers step by step guide plz, as vids on youtube don't do a full step by step just bits, also theres not many pre done covers out there im keen to learn to do my own with some help thanx inadvance ;) ps. whats a good printer to use ??
Excellent. But I'd have to make all the labels from scratch, I have no nostalgia nor love for the hideous box art we always got.
Awesome idea. You could cut both pegs off and Superglue them in place to actually hold the gameboy games so the don't move around.
My plan is to compile all the covers i need into 1 save file and see if Staples would print it on nice paper. I could do at home but I would need a ton of ink. Do you think they would print these? or would they decline because of copyright reasons?
Could anyone tell me the name of the BGM playing at the end of the video please?
Great video btw!
Damn why are people so much smarter then me lol. Great video as always though, man! Look forward to the next!
Wow.. It's beautiful seeing those gameboy cart in a cassette case is brilliant..love the collection..
If you use sleeve city usa you can get 100 of these cases for 30 dollars, and the more you buy the more discount you get.
This feels like AVGN for some reason
Might want to use soft cases and not hard cases. Hard cases are shockingly brittle. They break so easily
This was awesome. Earned my sub. Now I see what the hype is about.
That was just fantastic man! gonna have to try that myself! GOD bless.
For that incredible Idea,
you got my Subscribe! 😁
Thank you!
Few of the links are broken.
The templates for GB and GBC also is broken.
This is a seriously great idea. Thank you! Was just googling replacement cases for my HuCards
THIS IS WHAT NINTENDO SHOULD OF DONE TO PACKAGE & SELL ALL GAMEBOY GAMES IN
a lot of music shops will also sell old cassette tapes for next to nothing. I grabbed a dozen of old local church cassettes for like $3
Do you need special software to print these to cassette tape size? I tried printing from the dropbox share and it just filled the paper size. I don't really see any print settings that would change that. I found scale, but it's just between fit to paper and scale which neither one helps.
I figured out that Gimp can resize an image to 4x4 in pretty easily. I tried stacking 2 side by side and that was not simple at all. So for me I'm just printing out the few that I need 1 page at a time.
Thanks for this! Brilliant idea. I took some of them you've done and applyed a different cover for some of my games. (In Europe the Mega man covers look different for exemple), It was very easy to do with powerpoint, paint and google :D
The only link that works is yours. All the other links to the covers aren't working for me
This is life-altering stuff here! Its too bad Nintendo didn't do this initially!
I don't have PP, will keynote works. Thanks.
This is a fine a example of aesthetics vs collectibility: they may not be as valuable but they look so much better in the cassette cases.
When you have them looking like this, who cares about collectibility?
Great point man! I often prefect aesthetics personally
That's actually not a bad idea.. I'm just using a bunch of ds cases I got from the slop..
Awesome video I saw sellers using cassettes tapes cased this past April at small game con ,what ? Are those,! it cassettes cases for Gameboy games ,it look good though
I don't know why I didn't think of this!
I mean I already do this with my Dropmix Cards, but I never thought to do this with smaller game cartridges. I'm gonna do this if I make some extra spending cash.
Also! For those who want Cassette Cases without the Pegs. Look for user "*Sleevie Wonder*" on Amazon or eBay. He offers 20 piece packs of Pegless Cassette Cases for like$5.00 bucks and they're really great for cards, but after watching this video, they're also great for games!
Anyone have the 3D model for stand the game at the exactly place ?
Woooo thats a great ideas ,Thanks
Great video!!
Is there any source to find any of the game templates and already cut?
Do you know where to get the other Pokémon games? I see you only have Blue
i like this method but i was mad when nobody made a super mario advance 2 box cause that its the only game i have and i suck at editing
Patreon ? But you already make 100k+ a year. Why so greedy ?
Really awesome but too much work. I don't even own a printer.
This is an awesome idea! I already use the "nail polish" stand for my loose TG-16 and GB/GBC games (as seen on My Life in Gaming).
This looks like the perfect solution to my loose GBA cartridges, which are too small to display on the stand.
do you have a tutorial on how to create these templates in photoshop or powerpoint?
God damn, makes me want to start collecting gameboy.
That is an awesome idea! I never even thought of doing this before.
About 30 seconds in and I realize my gaming game is put to shame.
Ah man I HAVE to do this
Yes you do!
Cassette tape holders are great and can hold just about anything, even Game Boy cases or Nuke.
Loose SEGA Genesis games also fit in cassette tape racks.
While this looks great it’s too bad there’s no way to store he manual in the case
I know I’m a year late but wow this is an incredible idea.
This is honestly one of the best vids I've seen for displaying gameboy games etc, got me excited to run out and buy cassette boxes XD
Thank you! They look better in person too. You won’t regret it
Could someone leave me a link to download GBA covers?
Thanks for the info. The felt peice is a great tip👍
I wish it looked a little cleaner
Man thanks! i just did a box for my Tetris
I never thought about that!! wow. I am going to cover my neo geo pocket games
thats looks really cool, i should get more gameboy games
I never thought about this idea before.
Thanks for the info.
I love that into music and the music thru out, what are the names of the games
Damn. An excellent idea. I’m - a - I’m gonna have to steal this idea. I see cassette storage options at the local Value Village all the time!
Awesome! You won’t be disappointed
That's a very cool idea. I have to have my Turbo Chips (Hu Cards) in the cd cases but if I ever did collect loose that does look pretty cool.
This is the most English way to package Game Boy games that Nintendo should've been doing back in 1989 for the Europeans.
How is it English
Damn man you look older from the last Case Cover video in 2013
Lol. Thanks? Yeah! A lot can happen in 5 years
I was searching for a cassette rack and I found by chance that Ikea Spice racks are $4 each and store cassette tapes perfect. Anyone interested just google "IKEA spice racks make perfect tape storage!" It should be the first link, a reddit post with pictures and a product link. Might not be the best solution for people with large collections, but everyone can decide that on their own.
Thanks for this video, this is definitely a much cheaper than buying custom cases and seems much easier than the method I have been using of butchering DS cases to fit the games.
Thanks for your past videos too! I used your older videos to help case up my NES, SNES, N64 and Genesis games. They look great, keeps the game room looking nice clean and organized.
Dude! That’s awesome! I want to check that out! Good to hear your collection is looking gear too!
I've seen this solution before. However having already invested in UGC and DS Cases for GBA, I am unsure if I'd like to invest more money than I already have on new supplies. So question. I have my Gameboy Cartridges in their dust protectors. Would they still fit in the cassette cases with them on?
I don’t think so. I’m out of town so I can’t check, but I think they’re too bulky
your really creative thanks for the idea
Chris, do you know if anyone has a collection of artwork for Atari lynx games? Btw...excellent video.
I don’t... but you could try the cover project.com
Thank you so much for this crafty idea
