The rear wheel well liners will keep that cord out of the wheel well, also. I'm on my 5th F-150 and I've always added the wheel well liners for aesthetics but now they have an additional purpose with my PowerBoost.
Jut took delivery of my 2024 a few weeks ago. First time we get snow and..... my fuel door won't open. Went to find the fuel door release like the manual said but couldn't find it (because I have wheel well liners). How do you access the cord if you have the liners? No way I'm going to be removing the liner ever time I have to manually open the door.
Great video! I just went out and found mine; it is behind the wheel well liner now, but still accessible with some effort as long as a person knows what they are looking for.
i have seen that cord on my 2023 PB Sport thought it was a antenna i was going to take it back to Ford dealer and ask them now don't have too thank you for your video
I had found this dangling on my new Powerboost and even sent a pic to the dealer asking and they weren't sure. Now I know and I had put a little duct tape on it to get it up and out of the way for now. But if their is a slot for it to rest in I'll have to look more closely now and put it back proper and add another small piece of duct tape...
I found the same on my new PB and texted my salesperson who was able to answer the question behind what it is and its purpose. Went to buy some duct tape this morning. Just 4 miles round trip. Now I can’t see the cable anywhere. Lol. Maybe it retracted or just fell off somehow.
it doesn't stay in that channel.. mine came out, i put it back and in heavy rain it found itself out again. I just used a heavy adhesive black tarlike tape to hold it in the wheel well.. been fine so far and if i need it, i can pull it..
Power boost question for you, I just picked mine up and drove it home today. I have a very slight inclined driveway. When I start the truck and put it in reverse it won't move. If I give it a little gas the engine kicks on and lurches me backwards. I literally thought I was going to run over a child. Is this normal. The truck is brand new from the dealer, a 2024 model xlt 303A package..
Can you get the truck to run off the battery only? Drive in a parking lot and get it to where the truck is "on" but the engine is off based on the rpm/tach. Can you move the truck on EV power only?
It popped out when i got home from the dealer, i thought i picked something up from the road. Pulled it and it opened the door, I tucked it into the wheel well hole and it pops back down. I may just tape it.
Lol yeah any efforts that I've made to anchor this string down just disappear after a month or so. Now I just let it dangle. On second thought, maybe that's our goal in life. cheers
@@fixorrepairdiy4609 , I found "MANUALLY OPENING THE FUEL FILLER DOOR - HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLE (HEV)" on page 255. There's supposed to be a tool to gently pry the door open. It is located with the jack. Do you have this tool? I found nothing about a pull cord either. I wonder if you have an early version of truck or a revised version of truck? I think the little pull cord is a hell of a lot easier.
@@OldAndGettingOlder yeah I saw that on 256 about the "emergency opening tool" but nothing in the manual about the emergency ripcord. I haven't looked to see if I have this tool yet.
Certainly not one of Ford’s most brilliant designs. The dealer just told me to tuck the string in there on the little lip. Of course it will not sit there. Seems like the engineers could’ve come up with something a little more innovative.
Wow that's some piss-poor afterthought engineering. What's even more amazing that you did all this internet research and went on the Ford F-150 blog but you still bought one. Which means people are not being truthful to you and you bought it hook line and sinker.. and because you spent too much on that square construction worker truck, you don't have money for a suitable retainer for that string... I guess maybe you're lonely and you need a Christmas card from your dealership every year to remind you to come in to get your recalls done? Or do the letters from Ford motor company suffice?
Wow Gary I'm sorry that you're so angry that you have to take out your frustrations on some random stranger on the Internet. May the rest of your day be better.

@@ubeuonly So what would you buy in place of the F-150? I was "all-in" on the new Tundra until the dealer 1) showed no interest in me being a customer, and 2) admitted that they were adding a "market adjustment" of 5k minimum to the new models. I went with Ford because they clearly had the most mature product in the space and the dealer did not add market adjustment. I get what you are saying about the "sheep" factor but anyone can complain...what then are your recommendations from your 35 years in the business?
I've had my PB since the beginning of Feb and never saw this. Now I need to go and try to find it! Thank you for this!
I noticed mine was hanging today. Im thankful i saw your video 1st.

Thanks, the wheel well liners are definitely on my list.

Mine just came out today and was wondering what it was! Thanks for this video!
Thank you! We had seen it but hadn’t figured it out yet.

This ubeonly guy is a piece of work
There is actually a channel along the body that is slides into. It’s very thin but is there.
Half the time I could not see it; this must be where it was hiding. Thanks.

I've the same string. Wonder where its supposed to be located though.
Mine was hanging when my truck was new at the dealer on delivery day . The salesman had no idea so we took 3 mins and figured it out
Also there’s a slot where the cord drops into

Good to know. This isn't in the owners manual? What an oversight.
If it is, I can't find it.

My understanding is that 2021 powerboost trucks didn't have this cord, only a plastic pry tool. 2022 models have this pull cord instead.
So what would be the point of having a locked fuel door if all someone has to do is pull this string to access?
I have no earthly idea. Good question.
I can tell what to do with the string....just fixed it myself on a day old truck

Yes, it looks as if it was an "oh, by the way....." request from engineering.
Pft, I cut this off thinking it was left over from manufacture… oops
That's how puss poor engineered it was
I did the same thing.
Please take my advice after using those cheap sticky backs for many years, it will be gone in a week.
It was.
There is a very specific reason Ford had to put the gasket and delayed lock mechanism on the boost engine. Blame Biden, not Ford, haha
