This young man is the most underrated guitarist ever.
Edit: Let me explain what I mean by underrated. This young man has written some of the most amazing rock music ever. Yet everyone still talks about Morrison. Even himself in an interview has admitted he does not get the credit as in their first two albums were accredited to The Doors and everyone thought that Morrison wrote them. This young man should be at the in the public consciousness at the same level as lennon and McCartney, Jagger and Richards.

As Ray Manzarek once said, "Robby is our secret weapon." A few things that people have to understand about The Doors dynamics is this: Jim was the moody, cerebral. poetic, exceptionally good looking lead singer who had an unparalleled stage presence. However, he was accompanied by two genius bandmates in Robby Kreiger on guitar and Ray Manzarek on organ/bass. Additionally, John Densmore was an exceptionally good drummer. The Doors selling points insofar as their record label was concerned in the late 60's was their incredible music and Jim's charismatic persona. Robby's, Ray's, and John's personalities fit well with this, though this tended to obscure their contributions to the overall creative genius that was The Doors. After all, Robby did write "Light My Fire," "Touch Me," "Love Her Madly," "Spanish Caravan," et al. Bottom line is this: The Doors were
never a group who let their egos get in the way of collectively coming together and producing great music. And we have this to be very thankful for.

They had very different personalities. Robbie was the laid back dude that anyone could get along with. Jim was the mixed bag of nuts. Ray was the "sophisticated intellectual". John seemed on edge, or uncomfortable with the wildness that came with being in the group.

    • @Pimp-Master

Jim had enough charisma to last a couple hundred years. Do you realize that teens still fall in love with the guy who didn't live past 27 and sang in a totally different language than the countries he's still popular in, (South America)? Well, somebody had to fill that order I suppose.

In my humble opinion, Krieger is a refined composer. He managed to invent a musical genre, with deadly riffs that still displace us today. I am always mesmerized by his guitar counterpoint in when the music's over. The real musician composes! and it doesn't just run with pentatonic stairs.
Thanks again for your contribution Mr Krieger!

    • @troglodyteproductions2211

@@troglodyteproductions2211 I just wanted to say that krieger you invested in creativity and composition rather than technique. the songs of the Doors are very accurate on the melodic part unlike other bands that invest a lot on the speed of execution and the rhythm. The Doors: ingenious melodies and riffs... each song of them is something unique. I believe it is one of the most charismatic band ever

Wow I watched this for about 30 seconds before I realized it was the real guitar player from the doors!! I was thinking this guy is doing this effortlessly...then I thought omg he's the real McCoy!!
I've watched their keyboard player Ray manzarek on here showing how he played some of their songs and he is awesome too.!
Strange days is another pertinent song in these pandemic days.
Thanks for the lesson Robby !! you're a living legend!... we are not worthy 😉

The fact that this living legend is playing along with Jim singing on record behind him is absolutely incredible! In a way directly connects him to every single guitar player who ever sought out to play the doors. What an amazing time to get a personalized guitar lesson from such an icon. Wish many more musicians would do this!

So glad to see you alive and well and rocking, Robbie! I love you, and I love your music - my world is richer because of the array of Doors' albums that (thanks be to you, and Jim, and Ray, and John) were on the shelves of a big-time Doors fan in Southern Brazil that is my Dad, who has a great time playing your tunes on the guitar and the piano - and I mean right now, and even more so these days (I know because he sends me videos) -, all that in the same living room in which I would go about eating cheese and listening to Doors' records ever since I was about ten, taken aback each time by something, be it some precious new little detail I had never noticed and would inevitably find out, or even the blissful whole, the undying poetry of it, ever enrichened to me by my weekly discoveries of youth. I like to sing, and I play the guitar, too. Some years later (2003, I think), Dad and I played Light My Fire at a birthday party. I remember that I couldn't help thinking, even as I was playing it and still battling stage nervousness to some degree, when it came to Dad's (Ray's) final part in the solo, and it was my job to get him covered - in Brazil, we say "have the bed made for him" (some bed, I tell you) - with all those base chords from the intro: "Man-this is too fucking brilliant." That got me up.

It is such a privilege for me to learn from you, Robby. I play guitar for over 20 years, I started to play guitar because I wanted to play The Doors, the best band in history of music. Today, you corrected some of my mistakes I mislearned somewhere in late nineties, practicing over old turntable records that my uncle gave me. We live in such a glorious age. Greetings from Croatia!
    P.S.
Please show us L.A Woman, with guitar solo, which tortures me since I play guitar. :(

The difference is: With Marty everyone can learn a song. With Robbie's "lesson" only highly experienced players playing for many years will succeed. It is no lesson to zoom the cam at the fingerboard! Okay, now dislike me, fanatics ... :-)
