I've noticed Gerber's been releasing a lot more USA made knives lately. And that's a good thing.
I have mixed feelings about this knife. I received mine today and to be honest I was expecting a larger knife. The spring action is extremely crisp and the lock is incredibly tight with almost no play. I have a few auto's but for the last few years my normal edc is a cold steel recon 1 tanto that I love but the lock mechanism isn't what it was so I decided to try this one out. First impressions are this knife is sharp and very light but I put my recon through hell and I'm not sure this knife could hold up as well. Besides that I'm glad I added this one to the collection and I'm looking forward to rotating this into my edc. For me weight isn't an issue and I know after watching countless reviews on this blade it's a very well manufactured knife but in my opinion it has a toy like feel. I'm definitely going to put this one through it's paces. Thanks for all your reviews!

It is nice to see Gerber work toward relevancy and, to a degree, away from their mystery metal. I think they also have manual versions of these knives, or they should. Though auto knives are legal in my state, only a few miles away, it can be a felony to have an automatic knife, and the state line is not very obvious. I have many push button autos and they really provide no real advantage over manual knives. Too often, I have to look for the button after hitting the pivot first, and some require a lot of directly inward pressure on the button, which is awkward. Closing has its own challenge as does the safty switch.
Gerber generally doesn't "tickle my pickle" but that one is pretty good lookin. thanks for the diversity of brands that you review.
I know your in cahoots with Blade HQ, but their return policies "suck". I got stuck with a defected knife and lost $52.00 because I made "3" cuts on a peice of cardboard . That's what I get for being honest, I guess.
Anyway, the specs on that knife says the whole blade is 3.25 in , not just the cutting edge and that makes a huge difference to me , especially because the handle is soo big at 5.125 inches , that's really out of wack . And for anyone interested, i think the Boker Kalashnikov 74 auto with a satin ffg s30v blade is still on sale for $59.00 at Blade OPS , I just got mine a few days ago . It's a great deal.

Randywolf244. I did tell them it was defected . We went back and forth 3 times and they still said no . It was a Artisan Tradition with D2 and g10. I opened the box, looked at the really thick behind the edge blade and made 3 cuts on a piece of cardboard and noticed it had really bad "lock rock" , I mean bad , if you put pressure on the blade you can actually watch the liner lock jump back and forth . I don't know how it made it out of the factory . And that's exactly what I told " Blade FU" and all they could focus on was the "3" cuts I made on the cardboard , Oh sorry , we don't accept used knives . The f----in knife is defected , they didn't care . So I'm out $52.00. I won't buy anything from them again , the bastards .

I sent 2 emails to Artesan Cutlery ,it's a new Chinese knife company, a week later they send me an email and say " Sorry about your knife , we are deciding what to do about it , we'll get back to you ." IMAGINE THAT , the knife is defected and "they" don't know what to do , give me back my f---'kin money , unbelievable . And that was about a month ago and I haven't heard back from them.

Love Gerber products. Their affordable and reliable for the price. I love my Dads Gerber multi,tool, i us it EDC.
Tools cannot be tactical. You can be tactical and your tools can help you. A weapon can be tactical but the s-biner cannot be tactical.
The operator/brain is the ultimate weapon.

It looks like Gerber is making a comeback but all of the cool S30V USA made stuff is automatic so none for me :/

#gideonstactical I like the blade shape on that a lot, but kind of 50/50 on the handle insert. I think if i were able to get an auto in my state, I would probably lean towards one of the Kershaw Launch series before this one. Great review as always!!

Randywolf244 I can open the majority of my blades in the same time an auto would open and i actually prefer manuals, but i want the option to carry one if i want. I could conceal carry a gun, but can't carry a knife that opens with the push of a button. So stupid...👿
