I wonder if its just due to audio differences in the recording or perhaps nerves but I notice when Eabha sings live, her voice is noticeably higher and her timbre is much brighter compared to the recorded versions where its wonderfully dark and luscious.
The tiny lav condenser mics don't have nearly as much frequency response as the $10,000 studio mics. So you can get a lot more of the highs and a lot less of the lows.
Let's break apart why this version just isn't the same as the version from the Round Room Dublin (RRD). 1. This version is using 2 (mistake) spotlights (mistake) without diffusion (mistake). 2. RRD appears to have used many (correct) conventionals (correct) with diffusion (correct). That's just about explains it all. I just deleted an entire essay comment I wrote going into detail, but the above sums it all up. Yes, the audio in this one sucks, but the RRD video was dubbed with the studio version, so not a fair comparison. (No, I'm not saying they lip sing.)

Much prefer christy version has that rawness much better. Violin is good on this though
