Thanks for checking back in everyone. Here are my custom mappings for the Traktor Kontrol S2. I hope you enjoy the effects that I have mapped to the controller. These are meant to help you transition between songs seamlessly and also give your tracks some extra flavor. They work great when mixing mashups with acapellas and beats on the fly.

Instructions:
These mappings are for Traktor Pro 2 and will only work with versions 2.0 and above.
1. Download the mappings
2. Open Traktors Preferences
3. Click on Controller Manager
4. Save your mappings if you have any
5. Click the big import button on the bottom and import the mappings
6. Close Traktor and reopen it
7. Reimport your mappings with the small import button in the controller manager
8. Enjoy!
Note** If you are having issues with the effects not loading properly, try reimporting and restarting Traktor a couple of times. Traktor has issues importing new mappings from other systems so a couple reimports and restarts will do the trick.

It worked out perfectly. I can swap between the mapping I was using before and yours effortlessly. Plus, you've left a lot of room for improvement; many of the buttons and other features of the S2 remain free to be mapped to whatever I need. Thanks so much again for the great free mapping!
i cannot say THANK YOU enough for making this video and the video teaching the basics of MIDI mapping. thanks to your guidance on effects (especially on the wisdom of the echo out, which makes harmonic mixing largely unnecessary unless i want to sound extra cool) i have custom-mapped my S2 to take my mixing to the next level (at least as far as transition FX go). i mapped it all from scratch but your effects advice has really saved the day...now i'm ready to crush my first gig next thursday

@koningwoning Thanks for the response! I finally took the plunge and purchased the S4 :) It is now right in front of me =) Yes I can see how you can change the setting withing Traktor. Im glad that Traktor continues to post software updates on their NI website!

The S2 isn't necessarily better. However, it is very tightly integrated with Traktor. You don't have to worry about mapping it. The integration also provides for high resolution support of the jogs and some of the other controllers.
you have money to blow you can order the "traktor bible" from germany. the english translation is flawless and it goes into astounding depth on what each effect sounds like and how to map to your heart's content. as far as combo effects go, that's more trial and error and your own creativity

You are very good at explaining and you have a really nice voice,its a pleasure watching your videos.
I really hope you will make a few tutorials on the TK S2 for beginners......show a few examples of; mixing 2 tracks....how to use the samples since s2 doesn't have extra buttons for samples like the s4.....and a few basics stuff which you think it will help us,the beginners,to start our "journey" into mixing.
I'm 100% you will make a lot of people very happy.

@slingyboy You can record with the S2. Actually the recording happens inside of traktor so it doesn't matter what gear you work with. I would say for a beginner the S2 is better.
@rainierjp Hey, thanks for the kind words. Try downloading this mapping and check to see if it works with the S4. If it doesn't then just download the TSI and change the values to match the ones on the S4. Select the effect and click learn then just twist the knob on the S4.
you can switch between regular HID mode and midi mode by pressing shift + shift. the only thing mapped to midi mode are effects, if you want to use your transport controls just hot swap back to HID. very simple.

Traktor > Settings > Decks Layout > Miscellaneous (Color Mode) > Choose between 4 modes.

looks like a great mapping im currently using the ean golden one from techtools but i wanna give this mapping a go. How do you jump out of the jogwheel effects mode and back to normal though? With the techtools one you hit shift and restart button you enter or exit jogwheel effect mode. Lastly thanks for sharing a nice mapping its appreciated by many im sure

@Mhuberts I'm not 100% sure. If the midi messages match then yes. If not you can go in and change them to the S4.

Thank you greatly for the innovative mapping. Do you think I can use this in conjunction with another mapping? I'm currently using DJTT's custom S2 Mapping but I'd love to be able to swap back and forth between theirs and yours, seeing as how yours is in MIDI mode. Going to give this a shot now.

hey sweet tutorial, and thanks for posting your awesome TSI. OK, quick question. I have your TSI loaded into traktor and have restarted/reimported a few times. I can see your custom mapping in my drop-down menu of custom mappings. however, I can't for the life of me figure out how to switch on the fly. how do I do this? thanks!!

@armyofme4340 lots of thanks for the help im new to traktor. im also having a hard time finding acapellas of popular songs. do you know any good sites that offer good acapellas for mixing?
You have to either switch back to native mode when you want to use play and cue functions or map the buttons yourself. I'd recommend just using armyofme's mapping for a supplemental FX mode, and to switch back and forth to native mode (by pressing both shift keys) as needed.
Can You help making the same mappings for S2 Mk 2?
@ckrul20 You will need to map those. Like the video explains midi mode is a blank slate. You need to map it to your liking.
@armofme Thanks for making your hard work available to everyone on here.. This so close to perfect for me except that with these mappings installed, my S4 will only sync to the midi clock. I am in Auto mode, if the controller is disconnected then the playing deck automatically becomes the master but connect the controller and it just won't do it. Sync still works but only to midi as the master unless of course I am doing something reaaaallllyyyy stupid?
I am rebuilding this for X1 and it's working quite well. Just wondering what values you are using for reverb and turntable fx on the beatmasher-to-turntablestop effect.

I downloaded your custom mapping and i think it is awesome, though I have a question. Is there anyway you can tell me if there is a way to change the effects when you arent in midi mode? example, lets say i want filter as one of my effects. but when i go midi then back to reg mode, it changes the effects to the midi ones and wont save the filter... Thanks!! You are hella talented btw.

@TerritorioDance You can't map it like that on the RMX as it doesn't have touch sensitive jog wheels. The S2 can send a message when you apply pressure to the jog and when you move it.

@rutierut These mappings work for the S4 as well. See below as someone imported them to the S4 and everything worked.
worked perfectly for the s4.. no need to change anything..i did doa couple more things with effects, basically setting the cue buttons on the bottom to enable modifers...so i could have even more effects :)
still want a midifighter pro though..i want super knobs!! on the s4

@slingyboy I think it's much more beneficial getting the S4. With computer Djing it is so much easier to do four deck mixes so you'll be doing them within a few weeks of learning. I promise that you'll want to upgrade to the S4 not long after getting the S2!
@syhan0920 I had that problem in the beginning and could never figure out why. But if you open up your controller editor and move the midi port from external to internal that should do the trick.

I've had people state that this works with the S4 because the midi messages are the same on the S4 as they are on the S2. Give it a shot.

mix track pro if you're more a beginner and want to start small with just mixing tracks. Or if you're more experienced and want to remix rather than mix 2 tracks than the kontrol S2 is for you! I've just ordered the Mixtrack Pro!! :)

@jacobt80 Just go into the mappings and find the command. Delete it and add one that says List Select Up/Down. Unfortunately it's not easy to describe this over youtube. You'll have to play with it.
Can I remap your config onto my M-Audio Xponent? Not sure if u're using 14-bits/midi&normal mode switch, which will cause this config only to work on the S2/4...?
Hello. Not sure if this problem has been addressed, but I was wondering if this mapping just has the effects in MIDI mode. When I switch to MIDI mode I can use the effects but I am unable to use any of the other buttons or controls. Is it mapped this way on purpose? Is there a version of your mapping where they other buttons/controls function like default? One last question, if there isn't could you release one or give me a starting place to map it myself this way? Thanks again for any help!
@keithAHrnandez you need to press shift and then browse in order to change the S4 to MIDI. Cheers. Btw you will only need to change the effect name to delay and change the effect channel to 3. Everything else works like a charm.
Can u explain to me the main benefit(s) of MIDI mode? And why you chose to apply your effects on MIDI mode? MIDI mode is annoying to use for me atm (still very noob), because it pretty much changes the function of obvious buttons (like play not actually playing/stopping the song).

It's under your preferences. Just click on Decks > Waveforms > Spectrum
I just bought this mighty machine and i love the endless possibilities. So if inunderstand correctly if i push shift i can change the controller to a hole other one?? If i push shift now i can search to songs really fast. And 1 last question; how do you map the echo out 'standby' knob???
@RockstahRolln - you can edit mappings in S4 as easily as in S2. Both were built for traktor.... Normally ANY DJ gear that you use with tracktor - you can change the .tsi file of. It's just that chained mappings to one button/knob often is quite difficult to set. But that's a Traktor pro prob. Not S2 or S4 prob

I had to enable that shift+shift option under the S2 tab in preferences (it is not on by default). it works now! only trouble is... when I switch BACK to my standard control, the my FX options are all scrambled up from what my default is. I'll be trying to find a work around. thanks.
Army, I have a question, you move the one dry/wet button and the other three nobs move in traktor, is that a macro of some sort that you would share? Thanks!
Some people have have reported that it ports over just fine. just give it a shot.

One more thing,i want your honest opinion about this:is there a very big difference between S2 & S4 besides the fact that you can mix using 4 decks and have thoes extra sample buttons on the S4?
