Enjoy the routine. It shows off the potential of the S2 and how it's a great controller for making custom mashups on the fly.
I highly recommend this controller to anyone starting out that wants a great all in one solution.
I will be releasing a new video later this week with a download link to the mappings I used in this video. The video will explain my custom effects and give tips on how to use the S2.
Routine:
The Pretender - Zeds Dead
Hollaback Girl (acapella) - Gwen Stefani
Bangduck - Afrojack
Kick, Snare Samples - Traktor Pro 2 LIbrary
Enjoy.

Great skills with the Kontrol. I also really enjoyed the review. It was very professionally done and had a constant flow.
This is one of the best S2 review I've come across on UA-cam!! Thank You
Excellent review clear and well explained as a teacher at a dj workshop i come across so many bad reviews this was really refreshing big up PMB.
Well done, this is by far the most descriptive review I have seen of the s2
These are amazing vids! You are a PRO. You just sold me over the DDJ ERGO. This is quality,Pro and built like a champ. Can't wait to see you blow up some day.
As always you are a true professional and I am always inspired by your attention to detail. Looking forward to more work from you.
One of the best routines ive seen on this thing. You've made me want one even more!
I'm seriously digging your videos and loving your sets!
And like the other dude said... they are super clean and awesome!
Would love to see what you doing next... keep up the great work!
Hey thanks for your time I just got one yesterday. Your right is going to take me some time to get use to it. Hope to see more of your video.
Sorry about that! Went back and edited the description, linked it to your youtube page. Really enjoy your videos!
Really well done! Love the routine and the review. Camera work was very impressive. Looking forward to more.
love the new review!
video presentation looks great and slick.
want more!!
This is great, such a nice video. I finally know how to use all the knobs, still working on beatmatching by ear. Someday I wll start using all the effects. So far I wanna cover the basic stuff.
Great vid, definatly like the HD factor, great info on product and can actually play it to back the review. Solid
love your sets and what you're doing. Can't wait to see what else you put up
Hey there. The S2 is actually a really good controller for basic DJing, it was actually made for that specific purpose. You don't have to use the sample buttons if you don't want to, it's just an extra layer of control should you want it.
Yeah I apologize for that. I posted a link to your youtube page and also noted your song choices. I enjoy your videos, keep up the great work!
Awesome vid and review/performance! Thanks for pointing out the gain knob feature for filter use too! Good tip, as that was kind of a dealbreaker (not sure if it still is, but thanks nonetheless). Keep it up!
Dude, you go IN. Please upload more.
Awesome video. Super useful, mid-2022, as I'm considering getting this make of the S2 second-hand. I wonder if it's passed the test of time, a bit over ten years in.
I'm actually working on a new thing with the F1 and will be releasing a sample pack for free for use within the new traktor. stay tuned and don't forget to subscribe to get the update sample pack
Can't wait to try this out, my friend's upgrading to this from a Mixtrack.
Nice to see a new video from you...I'm a sub from back in that day learnt a lot of MIDI w traktor on your videos ...gracias
Yo, that first mix was dope!
That was a great performance. Also, a great review. nice job! XD
This made me buy S2, it just arrived at my house :)
@loganINTJ Awesome. It's def a good time to be in the game. I started very young and then fell off for years and when I got back to it is when the tipping point to digital happened. A lot of people hate on digital, but really it's all about what you feel comfortable with and the final output that comes from the speakers. Enjoy the ride.
I could definitely rock the house with this and my lenovo I5.
Great mix, review and video/filming. Thanks a lot! :)
Love the review and perfomance!
This presentation looks so pro.
Great review, I might just have to get one of these now.
after this video i want to buy an S2... and i subbed!!
the video review looks so professional !!!!!!!!!!!! ;)
Can't wait to see the next video ;D
Thank-you for the review.
I'm just getting into DJing and have been looking around for setup options. I feel very fortunate to have entered when I did, because now with products like the S4 & S2 coming out I no longer have to buy an external soundcard, mixer, controller and more separately (unless I want to do some extreme creative DJing). Before I had read a DJing book about all of the separate components for a setup, this was the kind of item I'd had in my mind. And now it exists : )
@armyofme4340 Thanks for your super quick answer! :) Is there a way to imply EQ kill instead like using the mapping or something? (Sorry if my question sounds a little stupid. I am pretty new to this whole thing.)
I was so surprised and happy to see a new uploaded by armyofme4340. A little over a year is a long time between uploads. Time to brush off the dust and give something fresh to UA-cam, yeah? :P
Also, I've read about the S2 being able to be bus powered, but the LEDs dim significantly. I was wondering if it was really that bad. Could you confirm that?
Incredible video bro! Just decided ill get a s2 and a midi fighter over an s4
The Ergo is great if you're into the Pioneer layout. I felt that this is a more high quality product and that's why I picked it.
@ElementDecks96 Awesome. Xmas will be boomtastic
Quality work as ever. - SmiTTTen
@FenFennHD Had the same dilemma for a while. Until someone said to me, "If you're saving up to spend €600, you might as well save up a bit longer to get €850." And I did, got my S4 about 3 weeks ago and I love it. I even got an offer from a friend to buy an S2 for about €450 but I turned it down because I really think the S4 is the way to go. One of my favorite things is you can buy the Traktor Scratch Upgrade if you wanna plug turntables or CD players into the S4 and use it as a mixer. Go 4 S4!
Awesome video! I've just picked up one of these to replace my ageing mixtrack pro.
Awesome vid and nice mix!!
nice video! and great presentation
Great routine, I just ordered mine. Tell me, I saw the post on DjTT about the ikea "hack mod" haha and I may have seen your desk in there? If I'm correct do you think you could do a quick overview of yours? I just want to see a physical video of one, because I am contemplating whether or not to make one myself
@MathewBeastGranado I had the S2 for about 2 weeks before I put this routine together. However, i've been a traktor user for about 4-5 years and I use it pretty much every day of my life since I introduced it into my workflow.
Dope video! and good performance!
NICE VID! REALLY ENJOYED IT :D
long time, love the video awesome -))
you can use screenflow, aftereffects, or premiere pro. final cut pro will work as well.
Great routinne and review
@HalfManHalfBiscuits Yeah. It's a great unit. NI did a great job with it.
I went like "Yasss" when you said jogwheel person. Do you have a video for S2 remix deck tutorial ?
Amazing videos! Its hard to find videos like that on UA-cam :) Im not sure yet on which one to get, I like the looping part on the S4, but I don't like is not too compact. S4 or S2?!!! So you rather to use the S2? Can you loop live with the S2 as well? THANKS!!
hey awesome mix dude! where do you get your acapella tracks from ?
thanks !!!! and keep up the awesome work !!
@MrDellinx You should try and warp them in ableton of flex them in Logic, if they are really off. Make sure your tempos line up as well.
heard the first song and I was like N O P E
@pixelrefuge Thanks. Subscribe to get notices on the free mappings that are coming later this week
@LXJ Thanks. I shot the routine once and then shot multiple angles of appropriate close ups with the intention of knowing where they were going to go. I created a storyboard first on how to get everything put together, then shoot everything on my board multiple times. I use a canon t2i, with a tamron 17-55 lens, and a canon 50mm prime lens. It's not a video camera, more for photography but has video features. If you want more advice hit me up via private message and i'll be glad to help out.
@gabymac09 Agree. Plus the jogs on the S2 are very very responsive. I rely on my jogs for cue points, and also during a mix.
Great video. I have a lot of questions how you filmed it though. Did you have multiple cameras or did you just record it once and then fake it for the other angles. What camera did you use?
good vid , nice presentation
@DJidein Thanks for the kind words.
It's a very good video thank you very much for your efforts
Hey ! Nice video. I have a question, should I get the Traktor S4 or the Traktor S2 + Maschine Mikro ? The difference between S2 and S4 is it just the aditional 2 tracks ?
I'd appreciate an answer, thanks.
Oh my god a girl dj
@MathewBeastGranado although, traktor is pretty easy to understand. so don't let it intimidate you. and there are ton's of blogs and videos on it.
I am new to dj'ing and about to get the s2, any tips on learning? if you would reply, that would be great man! love your vids
YOU ARE AWESOME!!! Big thumb up :))
Hi sir good day
is this controller can be run
By a virtual dj pro ?
Just asking
just add an s2 user mapping and tweek it so that when you for example hold shift and press one of the play buttons, both decks start to play at the same time :)
this. is. magic.
Which one of Traktor Kontrol S2 and Traktor Kontrol S4 would you recommend for as a the first DJ-controller. I've always thought the S2, since it's more of a beginner controller. But I've heard so many people saying that you should go with some really good gear at the start.
If you have gigs in front of 300 people then it's time to step it up a notch. I'd recommend a Traktor S4 or a Numark 4Trak. Both very good controllers.
Can you do all of that with only the tracktor S4 or did you add somehting? nice video by the way, you got skills
Which song do you use in the video backgorund? i like it really nice video :D
@calucho23 I like the look of the ergo, but i think the integration between the S2 and traktor is as tight as it gets.
I really can't say. but they seem to go on sale during the winter months.
@djmuriloo They are automatically synced to the master clock or the master deck.
@LoonatikzDUB Yeah. It's a hard decision to make. I would recommend the S4 of the S2 as it has more controls. But If you are looking for portability and a simple compact controller then this is the winner. It's got more control than a standard mixer and set of turntables which is all you really need. Decisions, Decisions.
@MrDellinx also i noticed that the acapella track is 3:13 min long that could have somthing to do with the songs being of but that website you mentioned where you got it dose not have one that short it lists it but after i download it it ends up being 3:18 not 3:13
@tehdasho Lights are a bit dim without power. But when i'm at home practicing a set just relaxed in my studio i don't like having a lot of cords so I don't use the plug and it's fine. if it's day time it gets really hard to see the LEDS
Great Vid!
@QURRXX what made me buy this instead of the newmark mixtrack pro is that the Traktor Pro 2 software follows with the S2 as standard. and this just looks better too. But the traktor pro 2 software was the selling point to me.
I am gonna order one in the next days, and i got a question... If i use your mapping, will the old "default" one be deleted? Or can i just go to settings in traktor and remove your mapping/disable it and i can use the S2 like "out of the box"?
thanks for the review
@MrDellinx also the Bpm and values next to the bmps and other info is waaaaay off what i have when i load in the acapella i have 110.45 bpm and the tempo slider on the screen is all the way down but yours isnt i would love to learn how to play this but what other things have you tweaked ????
You can also use this for mix overs correct? And regular transitions.
Thanks Rene. I appreciate it.
@mikelo303 false product limitation was my reaction too. They needed a cheaper product to appeal to another target group, but I think they will get burned abit as the price isn`t reduced enough too make up for its lacks.. One good thing about it is that it adds booth out, S4 got lots of complaints for not having that output.
@LoonatikzDUB Also if you are not going to be doing a lot of remixing and mashups the S2 is perfect. Although it is possible as seen in my video (live mashup with acapella, samples, and beats) you have to do a lot of hot swapping so it might be a pain, OR.. it can make you a better DJ to work with limited space and resources.
@PhilipMalm i just overnight shipped mine :) i cant wait !
I have this exact model. Can I use an iPad or should I just purchase a MacBook Pro
what progrma does it come with? i was trying to get either this one or numark n4 or naybe typhoon vexta...which u recommend n why? also can u record wat u mix on this one then b able to play back thnzk
hi
i am a beginner and i never worked with a controller
i have to ask should i buy the S2 or the S4?Do you think the S2 will provide me as a
beginner DJ or i should buy already the S4 to save money?
also i dont have enough money for now to the S4 but to S2 i have enough
@mikelo303 No offense take. I appreciate your opinion. And I agree if people can afford the S4 then they should def get that. I have one and it's great, I have two tables hooked up to it and that is my setup in my studio. Thanks for being real, and not being a troll and straight up flaming the comments. I hope you stay tuned and check out more videos. - Peace.
Dat bass tho
