i made a mess with the pen tools a couple of time but I eventually got it right. Pen tool is my nightmare. Thanks. It was quite educative.
Yeh it can be a bit hard at first but it becomes so helpful using the pen tool, by far the best results and no worries

I don't have any no but to create a sparkle effect all you need to do is to cross two shapes together to create a plus, convert them to smart object, go to filter, gaussian blur and apply a blur to the layer. Then ctrl + j to dup the layer and ctrl + t to resize the plus and rotate it to a cross and make it smaller.
Convert them both together, go in blending options and tick outer glow and apply a little glow. Then finally adjust the brightness and duplicate the layer a few times for more
