Castor oil made my dry eyes worse so I was surprised when she said it's good for dry eye. It irritated my eyes, and the inflammation blocked my tear and oil ducts from moisturizing my eyes. I would be very cautious to take her advice. I personally feel like she was trying to sell her own product.

And this doctor is an expert in her field and produces safe products. It’s a win win as far as I’m concerned. Informed choice is on the table here.

I think it’s important information, and she is offering an alternative to the drug based serums. It might be short sighted, to dismiss this information just because you think there is a money grab.
Personally, I have experienced all the harsh issues from using these types of serums, even the non prostaglandin based serums,( because of the preservatives) so I think this is important information. I think it’s great that this Dr has formulated healthy eye products.

This person invited someone who appears to be very qualified, knowledgeable and helpful. I’m always amazed how many people are quick to criticize the work of others and provide no alternative. Exactly which alternative presenter did you have in mind? She said it’s to inform others so they can make their own decisions. It’s not harming anyone, it’s actually helping.
Personally, I don’t even use mascara - I don’t like the idea of smearing a bunch of unnatural chemicals on my face, especially around my eyes which are part of the brain, that I wouldn’t put in my body. It’s all absorbed through the skin. I came here looking for natural ways to enhance lashes. I didn’t expect to see so many judgy comments. There is so much hate everywhere these days.

$52 for a small tube of castor, coconut, and argan oil is insane. I understand the science behind it but the price is outrageous. I'm someone who has been using castor oil with olive, coconut, and argan oil on my hair, lashes, and eyebrows for years and the effects are very noticeable. Nothing can explain the $52 for 0.33 oz of oils.

I've started using pure castor oil about 2 months ago. It wasn't a dramatic change but over time I've noticed that my lashes definitely seem thicker and more moisturised, so overall, I'm pretty happy and will continue to use it. No irritation or negative side effects in my case.

I used a tiny bit of castor oil on my lashes for a while and it always migrated into my eyes making my vision blurry and it felt like my eyes were cloudy. So very hesitant. And if peptides grow lashes. Can’t we just use our peptide based skin care around the eye lids? And Dr Dray on UA-cam here says that studies show that castor oil can cause a lot of problems around the eye. I’m conflicted and confused by conflicting information.

I used castor oil for the lashes for a while too and had the same problem with it getting into the eye, so i found it weird to hear it is commonly used to hydrate the eye. I'll have to check if that is true. But there would be a great difference in using pure castor oil or castor oil as One ingredient in a formulation with other stuff to achieve the right consistency/properties to hydrate the eye.
I find it hard to believe pure castor oil would have exactly the properties needed for the surface of our eye 😑 another fallacy for this sales pitch doctor

I've seen many times some easy to follow fallacies about ingredients being bad, later debunked with careful analysis of studies and evidence.
I'm not saying everything here is false, I'm sure that her observations in clinic are true, but I don't expect a dermatologist to understand everything involved in the safety assessment of cosmetic ingredients.
And I'm not even saying this because I want to believe in lash serums! I never used one, and never planed on using one.

This is such a misleading comment, how are your language skills related to what compound works for your skin? A lemon contains phylloquinone and bananas has 3-methylbutyl-1-ol. Should we stop eating fruit now? Can Americans use more skincare than me who has it as a second language and can't even pronounce squirrel without stumbling? I know the rule is not supposed to be used as rigid as that, but im just trying to point out how ridiculous and baeed on hot air that comment is.

The skin rimming my eyes was always red and I had the sunken eye effect. The color change was more a problem for blue or green eyes. My eyes are brown, so not an issue for me. Ultimately, I needed surgery because the meds failed to stop the progression of the disease. Since then, I have not needed the drops. The sunken eye and red eye symptoms did reverse. Those were the symptoms that were visible to me I do now have dry eye, but the surgery is probably the cause of that .

@@Trytwentytwenty, this is such an informative video. I will definitely be taking a closer look at your lash and brow serum, eye shadow, and your brow gel. One thing though: your hypochlorous acid spray is severely over-priced at US $42 for 60ml/2 ounces. There are comparable products on the market, from well-known eye and skincare brands, which are far more affordable. TheraTears SteriLid Antimicrobial is $15.99 for 60ml/2 ounces. Tower 28 Daily Rescue Facial Spray (hypochlorous acid), which like your product, has been stabilized, is $28 for 120ml/4 ounces (and their refill bottle costs less per ounce). Briotech's BrioCare Skin Renew Toner (hypochlorous acid) is $14.99 for 100ml/3.4 ounces. E11ement's hypochlorous acid spray is $16 for 240ml/8 ounces. Whoever helps you set your prices (or, perhaps, whoever helps you source your ingredients) has steered you wrong on the price point for this product.

As a result of watching this video, I decided to try the TwentyTwenty lash serum which the the ophthalmologist is selling. I’ve been using it nightly since mid-May 2023 and it is now early August. So my conclusion is that it definitely helps with dry eye but I have seen no increase in eyelash length or thickness. Since I am 70 yo, and my hair growth has slowed down generally, this could be why. However, I am quite happy with the dry eye relief results. I was using lubricating eye drops 3-4X per day and now find I rarely have to use them. It feels like a soothing, natural way to treat this problem. I tried applying in the morning as well but found it leaves a slight film over the eye so kind of hard to see clearly. Haven’t decided whether to continue with the product or not at this point. Of course I was hoping for lush, thick lashes but that’s obviously not happening.

I suspect RapidLash was the cause of orbital fat loss that eventually turned my East Asian monolids to double eyelids (creased). I was lucky I had rather puffy upper eyelids so they actually look really good with less fat and I no longer have hooded eyes either. I even have more field of view since my eyes open higher. I know this because one eye remained monolid for about a year until it also developed a crease. I remember it was brighter in the eye with the crease. I did look strange for a year since I did not having matching eyes and went to see an oculoplastic surgeon to see what my options were. Luckily no surgery was needed in the end. The only negative is that I also had meibomian gland dysfunction during all this, which is most likely another side effect of the lash serum.

@@ItsMeCheryl1231 I think as we age our eye muscles weaken so the orbital fat that had been held back in place by eye muscles slowly begins to come forward. I had lower eyelid blepharoplasty in my early 30s since I naturally had excess fat that never went away even with diet and exercise.
The downside of lower eyelid blepharoplasty is the side effect of developing loose lower eyelids (lower eyelid retraction or ectropian eyelids) which can cause dry eye. I just went in to get the surgery to correct this. Luckily it’s covered by insurance.

I have super dry eyes, and he has great tips. I haven't used it yet as I am using up another brand, which will be tossed in the garbage immediately! This was a very informative video. Will definitely try some of their other products. Remember to clean your eyelids peeps. I use an eye scrub, maybe I'll try the spray. Thank again

My.opthalmologist told me any main brand lash serum is safe. He based it on the fact that serums were created from the side effect of lash growth found in glaucoma medication. I reiterated my concern for using anything that could harm my severely dry & mature eyes. So, I proceeded use. I have just noticed discoloration & other signs of ocular irritation. I wonder how many other eye Dr.s would not know the harms. I best do even greater diligence on my own.

Very timely; I stopped using Revitalash about a month ago due to discoloration, swelling and stinging. I am curious, if the doctor would care to comment, does the orbital pathology occur if the PG analogs are only used on the brows? Additionally, is there systemic absorption of the active ingredients? As a doctor myself, I have seen that with some of the topicals I use. As an aside, the salesperson at Ulta told me that Grande lash did not have prostaglandins. Thanks for a very interesting video.

There are already great alternatives on the market, without the medical risks from ingredients in her product. See the bottom.
Im sorry, but she sounds quacky. Hear me out! She's using 3 forms of propaganda here. 1, trusted figure like a doctor you will likely trust. 2, Using big words over and over, even though she's repeating herself. 3 Fear mongering. Im sorry, I wanted to have respect, as some of these statements are true.. but I have some things to say.
Yes, there are side effects to products like Latisse, and she is totally correct on those facts. HOWEVER, when she's saying, "I've seen in clinic.. peoples' mental health is more affected by brows," this is anecdotal. When making mental health claims, you need to either say, "I think/I'm under the impression/ some patients have told me," OR have studies to back these claims.
So ok, whatever.. except she's not only trying to sell something. But sell something with no research, and something that can be harmful. Coconut oil can clog pores, as we know. But CASTOR OIL CAN CAUSE *CHALAZION*. Its okay to suggest an alternative.
But don't make things up that are completely subjective to her.. a person trying to sell a different product than she's criticizing. And if you're going to do that, at least be clear about the risks of your product, as well.
I could be wrong; I only mustered enough patience to watch to 27:20. But as a scientist who works closely to the medical field: I'm disappointed.
There are plenty lash serums without the scary ingredients shes fear mongering. Try this:
    Lash Therapy Australia Lash Serum.
I hope this helps someone. Good luck on your self care journey!

I got all those side effects mentioned over 6 months of using Rodan Fields eyelash serum. Ended up at the eye doctor who pointed out these were side effects to the eyelash serum. I was not surprised since I had noticed the symptoms had started with the use of the serum and would worsen after applications.
