Good advice well presented video however these days there really should be an easy to read app for this. Where a lake or river area is searchable with today’s regulations and catch limits shown in clear concise table. The FishingBC app for tidal areas isn’t perfect but a good start but I’d love to see one for freshwater fisheries too.

Many invasive species, such as largemouth and smallmouth bass, yellow perch, and northern pike come under the definition of game fish within the Freshwater Fishing Regulations Synopsis. Where the regulations allow, you may keep the invasive fish that you catch. Sometimes fisheries for invasive species will be closed; these will be listed in the regulations. If that is the case you must not target the species and you should release any incidental catches. For other species that are not listed as 'game fish' in the definitions section of the Regulations, such as bullhead, carp, sunfish and bluegill, there are no catch limits set for these species. Please report sightings of these invasive species here: www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/environment/plants-animals-ecosystems/invasive-species/priority-species/fish
