From an Argentinian, Adding up to your "for some reason", the main ones are that the islands where originally spanish in colonial times and during south america independance ALL spanish territory in the different parts of the continent was to be anexed to the different countrys formed, including the islands. Also, geographycally, the islands are set over the continental platform, wich due to international agreements, is argentine sea, making the island be situated over argentine territory.
The war on it self was not only because argentine decading economy but also Tatchers decading political image.

@ThatCrazy Drunk Yep, that was complete bullshit
People keep mentioning things that he has missed but can we just appreciate how informative and helpful this video is.
I pretty much knew all of that before
well, some things were glossed over and tried to be very politically correct. Many of these disputes go way deeper than what he described and assuming he is British he kinda glossed over the Faulkland war really quickly. Not to take away from the information given or the quality of the video but still don't take these claims over the anemocities as done deals
Dimitri Efthymiou I am fine with what he’s saying cause unfortunately these things will have to be one of those “choose a side” things.

If we do this again in 100 years I wonder if the US will catch up
It is quite confusing, British Isles, Uk, and England. British and Ireland = two nations of British Isles. British 4 nations in one nation. Uk a nation within a nation. England a nation within a nation within a nation. City of London a city within a city. almost like those Russian dolls a doll within a doll within a doll. It is easier for me to say British and England. England seems to be vital to British identity the language is English, so that is easier.
Nosirt then the UK was like “alright i’m outta here figure it out amongst yourselves”
I was just thinking that. Whenever there is a border dispute there is a big chance Britain was involved. But Britain be like "You think I fucking care? Ask the UN to solve it"

The fact that he actually included Georgia, warms up my heart. We're usually left out when it comes to discussing topics worldwide. Thank you ! Greatly concluded. I'd just like to add that not only Russia has occupied our territories, but continues kidnapping people from nearby villages, and moves the borderline furthermore. The worst part is we can't do anything about it. Basically we have to watch from afar how our people are dragged and killed, how our sovereign territories are being occupied day by day. Many people have families in those occupied territories and they can't even see them, because they're not allowed there. They're split....

Yes.
I think you missed the point with Oceania with situations like
New Caledonia wanting Independence from France
West Papua wanting to succeed from Indonesia
Bougainville Referendum in Papua New Guinea
Chuuk wanting independence from Micronesia.
And also the East African Federation.
Aceh too from Indonesia
@Alex they are set to have a other referendum
True enough. Fiji always a bit tense.
Regarding New Caledonia, I think I would state the facts (as I'm aware of anyway) :
-There is indeed a sizable independence movement
-It was agreed 30 years ago between France and this movement that there would be a string of 3 referendum, and if a single one was for independence, then independence it would be.
-The first referendum was organized as recently as 2018, with the "no" winning 56.67%
-Some more referendum will be organized, maybe as early as this year.
-The big issue is how to decide who gets to vote, with certain rules being more in favor of one of the sides
-The voting divide follows quite closely a racial divide, with a huge majority of the "recent", European (the "caldoches"), population in favor of the status quo, and a majority of the (bigger) native community, the kanaks, favor independence. Add to that 1/4 of the population that are not part of any of those 2 groups (think people from Polynesia, Asia...), and that are crucial for those referendum results.
I just wanted to add those elements, as I feel it's interesting and can't just be boiled down to "New Caledonia wants its independence"
My opinion should be irrelevant, but I'm still going to disclose it: it's fair that the Caledonians get to chose whether or not they want to be part of France.
this is the best youtube video i've watched in a while! when i was in high school i wasn't super interested in geography, a bit less in history. now that i'm a young adult i think there's so much that i want and need to know about the world and this video was a good starting point.
Loved the irony and humour you had throughout the video! And the things you said were very interesting and informative :).
Nevertheless, personally I didn't like how a lot of things were just overlooked and many countries with big interesting geopolitical insights were completely skipped... Rather than doing a 18' "world" geopolitical tour, I would have done multiple videos for each area/region/continent and got a bit deeper into each situation! From a curious, external perspective that would have been way nicer, just a little thought I had

@@fitmotheyap It actually isn't. There are many Serbisms, but the language still very much acts as a sort of dialect to Bulgarian. You can hear much more diversity from some west and east Bulgarian dialects then with Bulgarian and Macedonian.
And historically Macedonian history exists only after 1991. Otherwise there is history of the Macedonian region, not history of the Macedonian state.
Whom Can We Trust If No One Is Trustworthy?
One of my favorite quips from Mark Twain’s The Adventures of Tom Sawyer is when Tom is defined as “a glittering hero…the pet of the old, the envy of the young,” and there were “some that believed that he would be President, yet, if he escaped hanging.” With these few words, Twain captured the essence of leadership in our world. Those who get to the top are the fiercest, most determined, and most ruthless. Today, the latter quality has become so intense that we can no longer believe our leaders, and certainly not trust them to have our best interest in mind.
I am not accusing any leader in particular, or even leaders as a whole. It is simply that in an egoistic world, where people vie to topple one another on their way to the top, the one at the top is clearly the one who trampled over and knocked down more people than anyone else. Concisely, to get to the top in an egoistic world you have to be the biggest egoist.
So how do we know whom to trust? We don’t know and we cannot know. All we know is that we are in the dark.
In a culture of unhinged selfishness, any conspiracy theory seems reasonable, while truth is nowhere to be found. When every person who says or writes something is trying to promote some hidden agenda, you have no way of knowing who is right, what really happened, or if anything happened at all.
The only way to get some clarity in the news and goodwill from our leaders is to say “Enough!” to our current system and build something entirely independent. The guiding principle of such a system should be “information only,” no commentary. Commentary means that information has already been skewed. Information means saying only what happened, as much as possible, not why, and not who is to blame and who we should praise.
Concurrently, we must begin a comprehensive process of self-teaching. We have to know not only what is happening, but why we skew and distort everything. In other words, we have to know about human nature and how it inherently presents matters according to its own subjective view, which caters to one’s own interest. To “clear” ourselves from that deformity, we must learn how to rise above our personal interest and develop an equally favorable attitude toward others. This is our only guarantee that our interpretation of things will be even and correct.
Once we achieve such an attitude, we will discover that the bad things we see in our world reflect our own, internal wickedness. Our ill-will toward others creates a world where ill-will governs, and so the world is filled with wickedness and cruelty. Therefore, all we need in order to create positive leadership-and to generally eliminate ill-will from the world-is to generate goodwill within us. When we nurture goodwill toward others, we will fill the world with goodwill. As a result, the world will fill with kindness and compassion. By changing ourselves, we will create a world that is opposite from the world we have created through our desires to govern, patronize, and often destroy other people.
Please let me know, for educational purposes ;could i use your video dubbed into bangla for Bangladeshi people?

I’m English and it’s nice to know that Scotland 🏴 is part of Colombia
No they just have flags that are so similar, you need a magnifying glass to see the different shade of blue. Though that flag is not for the country of Columbia, only for the islands, islands awkwardly right off the coast of Nicaragua.

@@alandolawson1924 the Country of Columbia does not exist. It is still part of Canada as British Columbia, a province, and USA as Washington and Oregon, two states.
@@alandolawson1924 actually they have more in common than what you think. The people of San Andres and Provdencia, the Raizales are descendants of African slaves and British, mainly Scottish settlers. They even have a dance called Schottische, are Presbyterian in terms of religion and speak English creole.
Love this video!
