I travelled towards this race feeling a bit low that the swim got cancelled, on the way there there were so many big puddles and I was lacking confidence on the bike and would've been on a TriBike too, only just recovering from an injury took the hard decision to turn around and go back home , the next day I swam the distance in a pool, then cycled and finally did the run, I emailed the organisers who were happy to send my medal and goody bag, I'm now looking to tri again in 2025. It was good to see this video to see what the experience was like, Thank you
Ah Sutton Park, I grew up nearby, still work in the town and have trained and raced there countless times. I only wish you could have experienced it on a better day! Great effort though (athletes and cheer squads alike) and hopefully triathlon number two delivers the experience you were looking for. Keep up the awesome work Kelly 👍
Crikey that was a tough debut kelly - massive well done again, now to combat that swim - strike while the irons hot hun c’mon u can do this 🏊♀️ 🚴 🏃🏻♀️💪💪🩷
When you need to dig deep in your next one remind yourself of this one and how you got through that mud Bath..that was tough. Well done and massive well done to the girls for not moaning all day. Testament to you xx 😘
Well done Kelly. Sometimes those types of races are the most memorable. I know I've done some doozies over the years in some really rough weather, including running a marathon in a 30-gallon garbage bag as a poncho. The course did look really slippery -- especially for cycling. As always, love seeing the family support and your family's commitment to the sport.
The weather was just awful wasn’t it 😂 never been so cold, wet and muddy in my life! But a fab experience and one you’ll never forget!!! Onto the next one 👀
Wow tough debut there. Looked to be going well though and passing plenty of people. Think Matt & the kids did well too! Hope you have all dried out by now. Hopefully you will get to a chance to put the swimming training to good use before long. That part always put me off.
Thank you Tim! Finally dried out. Think the shoes are salvageable 🤣 they were fantastic support crew, made such a difference! Quite keen to carry on doing more swimming, I’ve gone from hating it to really enjoying it especially on run days 🎉
Bummer with the weather and no swim, but you did fantastic and had a great attitude. The next one can't be any tougher. Looking forward to seeing your next triathlon adventure.
I hope it’s 12 degrees, dry and cloudy for your next one 🤣🤣🤣. That looked so horrendous. Well done to you and well done to Matt and the girls. What a cheer squad! 🙌🏻
Fabulous you did amazing.I did a triathlon in weather like that and will be honest hated most of it.Made running feel so much easier without the hassle of all the equipment and transitions.I stuck to running after that.Well done you did amazingly well!
Well done! Amazing effort. As a triathlete I’m so sorry this was your first experience 🤣 I promise it’s usually better! Can’t wait to see your next one👏🏼
Fab video and congrats on your first Triathlon! I was there in a relay team for Tri Team Glos (local to you, I live in Newent) and it was a shocker of a day weather wise so well done on keeping so positive and getting it done 💪 I did the run leg and that was a proper cross country trail run if there there was one!! If you fancy more tri's (with a swim!) and wanna train with a like minded group drop me a message or look up Tri Team Glos 🙂 IRONMAN Wales for me in 3 weeks...eek!
Well done Kelly some effort in that weather you did amazing and hopefully next time you get to swim as well I will be following with interest as my friend wants me to do one with her as well and I need to do a lot of work on the swim first ps love your support crew your daughter is so clever
Oh doing it with a friend would be amazing. Go for it! The swim was frustrating to begin with and it was hard keep having to do the thing I was scared/rubbish at, but it started to click and now I love swimming. So glad I finally faced it. Still a huge work in progress, but it’s something I no longer fear. Thank you, they are amazing 😍
That weather looked insane!! And a grass run course 😳😳 Huge well done Kelly! You’ll absolutely smash the next one in better conditions (if there’s going to be a next one 😂)
Thank you ❤️ 100% will be, very soon! 😍 the grass was the nice part of the run route, the rest of the 10k loops were ankle deep bogs. A few lost trainers. Savage 🤣
thise coditions looked awful but with not being able to swim you still had an amazing race. i love how the family all come and support you through rain or shine

Amazing effort Kelly 🙂 in dreadful conditions.
You have a fantastic support crew .
Let's hope for better weather (and water) for your next triathlon
Thank you! ☺️ they were amazing, standing out in that weather. The girls didn’t complain once (nor Matt 😆) they’re made of strong stuff.
Well done they say prepare for anything in triathlon. If it can go wrong it will but you smashed it 👏
That run course looked horrific in that weather. Didn't expect a muddy grass path on lots of loops.

Thank you 😊
Well done and in the rain as well
Your swimming will never stop - neither will the cycling or the running.... if you want to continue as 🚴♀🏊♀🏃♀ triathlete
Well done in those testing conditions. Well done, also, to your amazing support crew.❤
wow brutal conditions! Amazing Kelly! What a superstar!
❤️
Amazing! Extra credit for the rubbish weather!!
Thank you ☺️
Congratulations Kelly & support team. From a older retired runner I did not envy you in that weather or Mattt & girls
I really felt for them. I think it’s much easier being on the move in it (although not the nicest) thank you ☺️
That looked horrendous! Well done for actually getting on the start line!
