    12:00 YES. Glad you mentioned this. My scale is now torn up under the clip with al the sliding up and down :(

      It used to happen to my Spyderco PITS knife as well as my Ti Luna so I was pretty much expecting it on this too, short of an inlay underneath it, I don't really know if anyone has found a good solution to pocket clip rub on titanium.

    • @SomeoneSmarter
      @SomeoneSmarter 3 роки тому +2

      @@UKLegalCarryKnives I have other Ti models but the rubbing on those is hidden under the clip. On this V1 I have almost 1cm of rub line on the scale as there is a bit of wobble on the clip before it even starts bending with extra pressure. Mine seems a little more stiff to operate than yours too so I'm having to apply more force on the clip to flip the blade open. I tried loosening the pivot but that just gave a load of blade wobble and it was still stiff.

      @@SomeoneSmarter Hmm, they do have the warranty if the stiffness doesn't break in, maybe some lube on the detent points, or perhaps a burr left on the detent socket, worth a check!

    It looks like a “flipping Luna” in the closed position. Pocket clip etc. would love this knife with thumb studs. I have large hands and think the flipper tab will cramp the grip for me. Shame as it’s good to see an affordable higher end material uk friendly folding knife. Sure this will be well received in the community.

    Waiting for mine, but given the rate he is working at it won't be long. I will admit, given the pricing for the specs, I was nervous of doing a preorder as I was unsure what the quality would be like but by all accounts this seems stunning and as you say, fairly unbeatable value. One could bend the detent arms by removing the detent inserts like in the video and bending them more straight to make a weaker detent or bend them out more for stronger, doing so though will of course, void your warranty I'd think.

    Great review, mine turned up today waahòo. But just my 2 cents on the pocket clip issue I also have the titanium luna which has an even thinner clip and have no rubbing issues with that. But not the end of the world its a knife and I'm sure I will get more dinks and scratches giving it some loving character.

      Quote from the comments from a barrister in the above video:
      ----------
      Firstly, the Act does not define a "cutting edge", which is one source of your frustration, but this has been broadly defined by the Court of Appeal Criminal Division in R v Davies [1998] Crim LR 564 as "an article with a blade that falls within the same broad category as a knife or sharply pointed instrument.”
      Your suggestion that I rephrase the wording is, with respect, misconceived, because your conclusion on your understanding is that "[you] can think of several, legal, non locking, pocket knifes on the market that have 80mm 'blades', but perfectly lawful 75mm 'cutting edges'." - which is not correct. If the "blade" of a folding pocketnife (including both sharp and dull portions) is 80mm in length, this exceeds 3 inches and you cannot assume they are legal to carry in public as you have asserted. This was also considered by the High Court in Charles Brooker v Director of Public Prosecutions [2005] EWHC 1132 (Admin) in which Lord Justice Laws ruled as follows:
      "In my judgment we should create a great mischief if we construed this statute so as to invite argument, in case after case, as to whether or not the object in question was sharp."
      Secondly, the exemption in s.139 CJA 1988 isn't defined as "a sub 3" non locking", it is defined as "a folding pocketknife" which is not the same thing - both of which have been further refined and interpreted by the courts.

    Looks like the bearings run directly against the titanium scales (rather than a steel surface), is that a potential issue for future wearing? Thanks.

    • @UKLegalCarryKnives
      @UKLegalCarryKnives  3 роки тому +1

      This is a much debated issue in the knife community, the main counterpoint being, there haven't been any issues/recalls yet, have a read through this forum to get an idea for the scope of this debate: www.bladeforums.com/threads/bearings-on-titanium.1618596/ personally, I think it's fine, If a widespread issue crops up though, I'd be happy to hold my hands up and say I was wrong.
