13:45 nailed it. The feedback you get from a red dot can really help with handgun fundamentals. I became a better iron sight shooter when I started on red dots.
I shot irons for over 40 years. I'm switching to red dots. It can be a struggle not to look at the front post and to leave both eyes open. Old habits really do die hard.
Fortunately, it is unnecessary to worry about height over bore on a defensive pistol: maybe if you were target practicing and looking for a bullseye then you can adjust/aka factor in the with your zero, distance and drop. So hitting a bad guy from 3-10ft you will not be aiming.
a lot of good points made in this video. I’ve owned four different guns with red dots. I hated all of them. I don’t like using red dots on pistols personally, but to each their own. I shoot fine with iron sites and I just kind of feel like if it isn’t broke, don’t fix it but that’s my take
Red dots are cool yes and they have their place. But on a 1911 it really ruins the classic lines and look of the weapon. That along with a huge light look so bad.
@@garyserrano6947 same issue, there are too many variations in slide dimensions. There would be guns with the optic mount sticking out off the back of the gun, some with it too deep some not deep enough and then the front sights will also be the wrong height/size with no ability to confirm without manually measuring each gun….. its not really something we want to do
It is nice that they are making red dot mounts to be more inclusive. Kind of like the jeep gladiator. The LGBTQ+2sprirt animal spirit Asexual Pansexual community thanks you.
Absolutely not a fan of red dots on carry/combat handguns. It adds weight, bulk and complexity. This whole trend of hanging shit from a gun to compensate for lack of training and the skills that training imparts is just absurd to me. I think optics certainly have a place in some situations. Hunting, competition or just plain fun is one thing. Betting your life on it? No thanks Same goes for fiber optic sights....in my opinion they're fragile and cannot be relied upon to survive in the real world.
In the two years I’ve been seriously focused on USPSA I’ve had one Trijicon SRO survive well over 20k rounds through training and matches. I would bet that is a higher round count than you have on literally anything. I would without hesitation bet my life on that optic. That sight weighs a little over an ounce and does meaningful make a Glock 19 any more difficult to carry or conceal. A dot is always faster than iron sights, if you need that proved to you go compare the classifier times for carry optics and limited and you will see that even though limited has existed for decades, CO times are still faster. My trust in dots aside, go google a picture of a SOCOM Glock. you add capability to a rifle by adding various attachments, that also applies to handguns. All that is to say, get with program and learn to shoot with a red dot sight, you’ll be better for it.
I used to hear a similar 'argument', but about power windows in cars back in the 80's, especially for people who envisioned their car going into a body of water.
This is an absurd estimation that those who put red dots on their guns are trying to make up for a lack of training. Actually, the more I train the more I realize their benefits and limitations.
Lol. Whatever bro. I am sure you are straight up Doc Holiday. There are plenty of great shooters who have embraced red dots on pistols and the benefits
That’s just an ignorant view. It makes shooting defensively easier, which is a no brainer for anyone who isn’t stupid… and it’s fantastic for competing… not sure anyone argued you “need” one. But why not have one? Why intentionally handicap yourself?

I have 2011s and now a 1911 with RDS. This is the way - for me. You do you. But glad to see ACW offering this.
Eli doing the Ronnie Coleman "Yeah Bubby" was GOLD! 😅
Ghost brought me back to life quite a few times during training. My favorite energy drink

4:31 lol Eli is hating on infinity 😂
Awesome video guys. Love the fun loving levity. A friend is interested in putting a red dot on a para ordinance p14. Any recommendations?
Great video, big fan, but I would love a video on how different pressure ammo works in a 1911 (45acp vs 45 Supper/9mm vs 9mm+P+)
Anyone who says no to dots should post a bill drill.
Can you guys make a video with the gun from the cover photo on this video? That thing is beautiful
A lot of gay tension in this video.
Should offer mounting plate in titanium to reduce reciprocating mass and have the strength of steel, especially on a high-end gun✝️🇺🇸
Are your irons absolute or lower 1/3 cowitness for RMR vs SRO? I know the SRO base sits a little taller than the RMR.
I want a red dot specific to 1911s and only 1911s.
This is the only time the rmrcc is useful. It should be thin enough for a direct cut on a 1911.

Light weight baby !!!!
So you guys dont offer a direct mount, like lets say in RMSc?
No cause that’s a horrendous optic
@TennisPro4686289 it's not that bad actually. More importantly it's a footprint thats used in multiple mini dot.
FUDD presence is strong in the comments.
Ok SPUD
When is Cabot going to make 10mm 1911 with a Red Dot
Cabot did back in 2020

Oh my eyes!…
WOW!
Be nice if you offered the slide cut package for other brands.
Too much variation in slide dimensions manufacturer to manufacturer, Vulcan machine works uses our mount for aftermarket cuts on staccatos
Maybe concentrate on like say the 70 series slide? Just a thought

Hey Alchemy, window licker here👋. Do you think that MAYBE rmsc would LOOK better on a 1911/2011, due to the width constraints?
@@chrisferguson1911 no… the rmsc is hideous and not a great optic in general
Browning was actually a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints
🔥 *Promosm*

lol i found that really funny.
i sure do love being gay cuz i like red dots 😂
Vortex over here just trying to be friends... but no.
I’m by no means anti red dot. I just would never mount one on a 1911.
Noooo
Red dots on 1911’s feels like a Rolex digital watch. It’s just gross
imagine behave like tradition guy and praise red dot brace ur root man!!!!
Blasphemy
Red dot NOT necessary on pistols. Rifles yes pistols no.
They aren't necessary on any gun. They do however improve your shooting experience on any gun.

Some of us can't see the front sight anymore....
wrong lol

If one need A damn red dot on A pistol you should not be shooting A pistol simple !!!!
L take
Come back to this comment in 30 years...lemme know how you feel.🤔
