"He can be trusted. He is attentive. He's at work on our behalf in all things." Such powerful reminders, Tara-Leigh! I don't always have the capability of seeing what might be just on the other side of a test of faith, but hindsight gives me clear understanding of how He has been a part of every single mundane and big moment. He's so faithful and when I stay focused on Him, it's much easier to see. Lord, help me to not be a control freak like Herod but to trust you in all circumstances!
It amazes me whenever my “God Shot” lines up with Tara-Leigh’s, but today it did. My words were different but had basically the same message; He provides protection for those He loves, even you and me!
Aloha, praise the Lord, and good morning BR family. I love how God protects his people from evil. He knows when there is evil surrounding us. All of Matthew 2 was my God shot; however, one verse stood out to me was verses 20-22 when the angel of the Lord appears in a dream to Joseph saying, "Arise and take the young child and mother go to the land of Israel". Instead of Isarel, he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth. Joseph trusted and listened to the Angel of God. He is where the JOY is!!!
God is the Author of Life and Light. He begins our story with “Let there be light,” and tells us of the Messiah in the Garden (“His head will be bruised but He will strike his heel”), and even Balaam prophecies that “a star will rise in Jacob” (Num 24:17). For all the Bible’s metaphor and symbolism, God brings specific reality to His story with powerful royal astrologers, who follow lights from the heavens, to worship the Messiah and provide for His earthly family (with the gold). Isn’t it amazing that God writes a story where His Son comes to earth in a lowly manger to poor parents and is honored by royal astrologers and feared by a powerful king! And the Light of the world John speaks of is heralded by a star and sung with praise by angels: humility, royalty, fulfilled prophecy, Light, and Life-that’s how God reveals Himself.
God was protective of Joseph's family and the wise men but I am deeply saddened by the death of all those children 2 and under. I know God has the perfect plan for us for his will to be done. So I trust that this had to happen.
What an indictment of Satan at the Great White Throne judgement! And of Herod. I trust that all these "innocents" are under the heavenly altar, protected and covered by Christ's blood.
God is writing the story. He is fulfilling prophecy. I wonder what God has planned for my life? What do you have planned for this crazy world we live in? GOD, He is the Protective Father. He is the Provider. He is Love, and He brings me joy. In all the twists and turns, in the thingsI dont understand, God I trust You. I don't know why terrible things happen, but I trust You. I know God is working all things together for good. For His ultimate plan and for His glory. Matthew 2:23 NIV "...and he went and lived in a town called Nazareth. So was fulfilled what was said through the prophets, that he would be called a Nazarene."
Good information. I knew about King Herod killing his own son, but not about his wife being mummified by honey. Amazing! Good video. I knew most everything else. God bless you!
While it does not change the character of God, His will , or His love for me/humanity, why is the slaughter of these two year old children without any evidence? How does Ramah weeping in the OT evidence of this slaughtering?
In verses 4-6, it seems to me to say that Herod inquired of the chief priests and scribes where the Christ was to be born, not to the wise men. TLC suggests that it was the wise men that Herod asked this of, and that their response shows that they knew scripture. This is not my interpretation of the reading at all here. Any one else notice this possible discrepancy? Thoughts?
Yes but verse 7 also said Herod secretly consulted the wise man...he requested that they told him where Jesus was born when they find him so that he might also go and worship him

I love that God reveals Himself to those who seek Him, even pagan wise men!
Jesus fulfilling prophecy on a whim. Truly the Messiah.
Today's recap was my God shot. It brings tears to me to hear how amazing our God is and all that He does for us for me.

TLC, you bring this story to life. Thank you.
This was a good takeaway.

God bless y’all!
Man I'm so thankful for this!!! Thank you Bible Recap
God fulfills several Old Testament passages surrounding the birth of Jesus. He also warns both the Magi and Joseph in dreams.
Thank You Father🔥

Hey Bible Readers!
Amen Tara-Leigh Cobble!
We always have our wise men across the room from the manger since they weren’t there at the birth!
My girls started doing that when they were younger. Sometimes even hiding them on me as a Christmas search for me!! ;-)
@@maggieellis6868 how fun! Wise Man Hide and Seek!
We knew Jesus family was poor but he gives them these expensive gifts to fund their trip to Egypt.
Wasn't Frankincense used in burial of the dead? Was this an interesting gift?

God always protecting and providing for those who obey and worship Him. He is indeed a good father!!!

God shot = If God doesnt explain something, dont incessantly chase it because its not important. He'll explain it later if He wants to.
Who did the workbook . And answered question 4
The wise men knew the OT and the prophecy about Jesus' birth and God provided the star as a guide.
Wheres the time line chart?
Tap on, “…more”.
It’s under the title of the video, “Day 276 (Matthew 2)”
