The Greatest Generation is Back (A Commentary)

America once produced The Greatest Generation, a cohort of Americans who grew up during the Great Depression and then went on to fight in and win World War II.
It was a Generation characterized by resilience, patriotism, community, and a strong work ethic. They were a generation who made great personal sacrifices for the greater good.
Their legacy is often seen in the major social and economic developments of the mid-20th Century, including the rise of the American middle class, advancements in civil rights, and the expansion of post secondary education.
But today we are seeing the rise of the "I Am The Greatest" generation, a cohort that is self absorbed, obsessed with social media and with little sense of community, sacrifice or the greater good.
