The taster bike , a Honda cg125? Is the the first bike I learned to ride on real roads on my lonesome. Full Motorcyce licence now but memories will live on. Bring on the mortorcyclists. Stay safe one and all.

I pray that you'll come out of lockdown with a bang and with loads of clients desperate to learn the art of biking.
Fingers crossed, I'll be back on two wheels in a few years.

The SS50 brought back memories. I had a red 4 speed until a car pulled out in front of me. I replaced it with a Yellow 5 speed. I barely lost any money on it as the law changed to 30mph mopeds and everyone wanted the unrestricted ones.
    I replaced it with a Honda cb250g5 when I turned 17.
I'm still enjoying riding at 61 and own a small collection of classic Japanese bikes including a CB360 and a Yamaha DT3 250 Enduro.

Moving to a manual bike is a good step. Personally, I'd recommend you seek out an experienced instructor and start the good habits from the beginning. Let me know how you get on but remember this, whatever you give to the bike it will reflect exactly the same back to you so be smooth and flowing with the controls....

Oh my, now that Honda SS50Z brings back a memory. I've had two. Pedals and all back then. 40 KMH until you locked the ignition timer a tad. Then it went 80 clicks. Trusty little bike this was. The pedals where there because by Dutch law this was a engine powered bicycle. The requirement for pedals were dropped somewhere mid 80's, Light 'sub motorbikes' were in the traffic code now which freed the way for scooter model 50 CC's. These bikes didn't require a driverlicense back then, because they had to use the bicycle lanes. Much later, traffic was divided such that everything motorised that was capable of speeds more than 25 Kmh were required to riding on the streets now instead of bicycle lanes

Interesting info thanks. The pedals were removed in the UK in about 1977 the restricted bikes to about 30 mph.

Keep the vids coming. I’m from Derby so enjoy seeing local countryside on your rides round Matlock etc. I’m looking for my first bike. As I’m 6 foot I want a tallish bike. I’m only going to be pottering round in good weather. Is it necessary to get bike with a screen, been thinking about a Tracer 700. Does the screen do a good job at keeping wind off , don’t want to get bashed about but don’t want a screen that only makes things worse? If I’m only going to be riding in good weather is it better to just go with a naked ?

Thanks. I'd certainly choose something with a screen/fairing. The Tracer 700 would be an excellent choice. Derby Council are currently subsidising ERS advanced training and we're on the scheme. £59 will get you 5 hours training with us! Google Derbyshire Road safety ers scheme.

That lovely RD50 reminds me of my second bike I had back in the day, an RD200 with the red wheels. Found an old photo of me on it wearing a big woolly jumper and the obligatory bell bottoms, I though I was a babe magnet on that but with age looking back, it was more Inbetweeners than Easyrider. Glad you said that about the GN125. Was just out for a quick spin earlier on my GN250, (reminds me of the babe magnet days) that I was thinking of selling. Its a bit small and I feel like a hip op needed after each time I ride it. Hope business going well

that honda mb5 is my favorite. I bought 1 new in 1986 when I was 16. It was a white one and I still own it. Completely original and in beautiful condition. When the weather is nice I sometimes leave my kawasaki versys 1000 to ride the mb and the smell of 2-stroke and nostalgia brings me a smile from ear to ear.

Great video, SS50 was my first bike in 76. Stopped riding in 1979 until 2019. CBT on a CBF125F. and now have a Sinnis bomber. Theory postponed yet again from April to June. Should have been done last April. Take care of yourselves and stay safe.

  • @Crana
    @Crana 3 роки тому

I done my CBT on a YBR 125 13 years ago now, how time flies. It's pretty mental how I done all my tests on a 125 (my DTR 2 stroke actually, which I really regret selling) then dossed about on a 33bhp bike for a couple of years then I could ride any bike I wanted. I'm really out of touch with the rules now but I'm guessing that isn't allowed any more haha.

As I was watching this, despite having never seen it before, I was getting a strong feeling of deja vu. Then it occurred to me...
    ua-cam.com/video/5e0esO33ics/v-deo.html
Not sure if anyone has mentioned this to you before Russ, but I think that your voice and Richard Herring's voice sound quite similar, which is probably why I made the connection with your video - Okay, his was about a motorcycle clothing shop, but there's still the motorcycle connection! I think it's a really funny sketch, and wonder whether it strikes a chord with you regarding people who aren't bikers?
Full disclosure: I'm not a biker myself, but have been watching your videos to get a rider's perspective of the road. I've gone down a bit of a rabbit hole and watched quite a few of your videos over the last few days and have learned a lot about motorbikes that I had never considered before (counter-steering, positioning, gear changing etc. etc. etc.). I'm approaching 50, but now your videos have inspired me, and I'm thinking I might do a direct access course.
Anyway, you've won a new subscriber!
