A amall fire under the oil pan can work wonders. Keep some fresh coals going for a few hours. Ranchers, farmers, construction equipment A common remedy for many over the years.
That little stove works well to keep you all warm. We use a kerosene heater in our bus it heats the entire 30 foot bus and burns for about 18 hours straight on 1 and a quarter gallon. I love it. Till next time, God bless.
Great channel! You guys are troopers for sure. Try out Vietnamese coffee and Thai iced tea if you haven’t. Might be converting a bus this year, maybe we will see y’all on the road. 👍🏼
Great video. Stay safe out there. We keep a down cover on our mattress year round and break out the down duvet in Winter. Our room in our house only room that is coldest in the house year round, especially in Winter. Every other room about 75 degrees F. Might be super cold outside the down, sometimes gets in the 40s but we wont use the heat above 60 degrees F in our room or risk sweating to death 👍. They are worth it.
do you have separate batteries for your hotel loads (the living quarters part) vs the ship batteries? (starting circuits) on my freightliner truck we had 2 ship and 2 hotel stay warm and stay safe :) hope the generator gets fixed soon
It's an interesting spot. Sort of a mini Red Rocks. I went there summer before last when i went to visit my sister. HEAD SOUTH, IT SNOWS THERE!!!!!!! :)

Thank you for your comment. We’re so glad your enjoying our vlogs. The wonderful aspect of Colorado is the extreme contrast in weather from one day to the next. We experienced 70 degree weather last week and a day later it was snowing. Summer, spring, fall and winter all in the same week. A strange and wonderful place. We’ve enjoyed our adventure here. Blessings to you!
You must be doing something wonderful for the Lord Jesus Christ with all the complications the enemy keeps throwing at y'all. I'll put you on our prayer list. Our ladies will back you up
Hi Shane, This is going to be for me a difficult COMMENT to post; here goes. Please don't take this admonishment wrong as for the thousands of hours behind the wheel that you have driven I can understand you will very likely not take my criticism without feeling offended. As a retired coach operator that had hundreds, even thousands of lives in my hands over a couple decades I couldn't ever be as relaxed with my grasp of the wheel as I notice you are consistently. One does fall into a false sense of security and comfort behind the wheel due to the feel that you have when all systems are working optimally. On the down side if some catastrophic event occurs suddenly, the ability to respond instantly is paramount. Two hands positioned in either 10 & 2 or something similar is important especially at freeway speeds. And when turning, you never palm the wheel, instead you should try to shuffle the wheel left or right from one hand to the other always gripping the wheel with one hand or the other.. There now I've said it, and I hope you know I do so with concern for the safety of that beautiful family in mind. Also (yes there's more) your following distance often is good but when you are around traffic that is travelling at speeds above 40 MPH there will be many around you that are driving in close proximity of one another, what I refer to as packs. This is when you must be finding yourself separated from others not only in front but on each side of you and if you're being tailed closely you'll need more distance between you and the vehicle in front until you can get out of that driver's way. Driving defensively is taxing but doing so at ALL times will be your saving grace if, God forbid, the unthinkable, the unimaginable situation arises. Now lastly, what is wrong with the idea of belting those precious children. They are taking your lead in the matter of highway safety and only know what you impart upon their young selves. Please don't think for a minute that I am of a mind that you are not giving your total attention to safety. I only am passing on the words that any professional commercial operator knows from years of experience. And here's a thought to remember; you get 'Behind the Wheel' EXPERIENCE only when you don't get what you wanted. That definition of 'EXPERIENCE' is universal to all aspects of life. Peace-Out
That bus there has an orange colored light on the cluster labeled intake heater turn the key to run and let that light turn off if need be after it turns off switch ignition off and let it go again. I know you havent ever posted any vids of having cold start issues with it but, I tell you Cat C7's are one of the usually one of the hardest diesels to cold start. I see in the end of the video though you were driving the bus so glad you did get it to start. Did you have to do anything specific to get it started?
Yup...I know about the intake heater. That was the first time I have ever had an issue with it starting. It really hasn’t been too bad considering the temps.
@@wildbill23c Nope it sure doesnt you could hear when he tried to crank it there just wasnt enough power in those batteries and being a cat it would of cranked a good bit before starting if it would of started at all

Stay warm and safe out there in the Cold
Brrrrr! It's amazing your little wood stove heats so much space. The small solar panel seems like a good back up. Safe travels

I was wondering about your radiator was fixed. I hope the generator, batteries and radiator get all fixed.

Yes!
Did you go to the Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs?
We have been there yes!
It's an interesting spot. Sort of a mini Red Rocks. I went there summer before last when i went to visit my sister. HEAD SOUTH, IT SNOWS THERE!!!!!!! :)
In such cold weather with limited electric, how do you protect your basement, tanks and pipes?
Amazingly we have had no problems with anything freezing. We did insulate our “basement” when we did our build.
Will your next conversion be a DOUBLE DECKER
for your expanded
family ???
It’s possible...😆

@@TheBusLifeShow Ah just thought I would throw that out there the main thing though is you did manage to get it started thats what really matters.
lol...true. Yes we did.
Does the bus have engine block heaters to help start it in the extreme cold? Do you have either as well as a battery jump box if needed?
It does, but without electricity it’s not an option.
If y’all know of any Thomas c2 buses for sale let me know.. trying to keep it under 35ft👍🏼
Always carry a few bottles of 911 fuel additive.
Grab it at the local Walmart.
That doesn't fix dead batteries though LOL.

What engine does your bus have? I have several buses myself and am thinking about converting one to travel in
yOU NEED TO TREAT THE FUEL!
It has winter diesel in it.
Why do you not have solar on the roof with all that ,roof real estate you have.Lisa in East Central Ohio
Why don't you head somewhere warmer during the winter?
That would be boring...😆
Mark Drennen 4 seasons is better than 1 💪
I'm guessing they have people they know near by? That would be comforting to have.
Thomas has proven it can handle the cold.
