Motocross Action Magazine tests the 2021 Yamaha YZ450F out at Glen Helen Raceway. In 2020 the Yamaha YZ450F received a host of changes including a new engine and frame. For 2021 a large majority of the budget for Yamaha went to their all new 2021 YZ250F so that means the 450 sat in the shadows a bit for the new model year. Yamaha made relatively no new changes to the YZ450F for 2021. That isn't necessarily a bad thing as a lot of the 2021 450 models will be different and could drastically affect where they rank in the 2021 MXA 450 Shootout. Could the Yamaha slip in at the top? We have a long way ago until we get to that point. ikr I came from the shootout video hoping to hear that so called "blaring loud noise" or whatever they blather about but instead i get to hear this weird 2014 graduation music. I think they just don't want to realize how badass the yz actually sounds

Great review. What would be the pros/cons of keeping the bar mounts in the stock position (forward holes/mounts backwards)?

Yes, you can buy a gytr power tuner, it’s just like a tuner for your car but plugs into your dirtbike

Hey guys, what gas are you guys running in these YZF's during your reviews?
I am Calvin Claasen a 15 year old boy who loves riding bikes. I have been riding from the age of 5 and don't have enough or even any money to buy a new bike. I have a kx 125 2009 model that I bought 2 years ago. It is not in a good condition but I really want to ride races for companies. Please notice me because I want to be like you one day.
so guys some dude in my country is selling his dirtbike its just like this but he is also trading it for a max 10 hp boat with steering console. i have a boat w that should i trade it

We need the 2stroke 500's back
BRC makes a YZM500 engine...I definitely want a Yamaha YZ450F or the new YZ250 and purchase the BRC YZM500 Engine to swap out. I own a TM Racing EN300ES two stroke now and have been building the engine for awhile, and probably will end up with the 2022 YZ450F and will buy the GYTR Ported Head Assembly and H.C. Piston with a FMF Factory or send it to Pro Circuit to get a full engine build...it sounds crazy 😳 I know!!?? But I'm figuring it will give me a different form of riding to cover all spectrums of modern riding...but I can't get that new YZ250 and YZM500 engine out of my head - I just love two strokes so much!!! I just worry over reliability compared to the costs associated with this 500 engine...it should be just fine though - especially with an all new bike to share all of the brand new engine components with.
...and so the carousel of decision-making despair starts circumnavigating the plains of my mind again...whichever I choose I am both blessed AND cursed with this process of new ownership that SHOULD totally be a positive experience!
If it wasn’t in the title I’d think it was a 2018 they haven’t changed anything

Yamaha could’ve at least put a counter balancer in their 2021 2 strokes bruh... the vibration is agg but I’ma still grip some dirt lol Might check out the Husky TC250 though it’s looking real good
@@DeNiroKavod i agree a counter balancer is a huge help for 250s and 500s but just having the crank balanced will go a long ways. None of the Japanese brands balance the cranks in their bikes and they never have. Tom Morgan rebuilt and balanced the crank of my KX500 when he went thru the engine.
Sleepy .Time ask Tom if he can balance my 250 lol cause I’m about to get a TC 250 just for that, I had bout enough of this with Yamaha, the fly wheel didn’t work apparently

JAMEZANDRADE bumpstart it, Wrs should have both but yz is a race bike that should save weight and chances are if you are getting a 2020 yz250 you probably have enough effort in you to charge the battery

Yamaha won last year silly! Won 5 out of 8 shootouts and the other 3 came in 2nd which means it won 1st overall if you put them all together!! Why change something that does everything good and had a better motor and suspension?. Also manufacturers always change 1 bike one year and the other one the next.
