    I have the Cobra T Rail and my distance and accuracy both improved a lot. I am 78 years old and play once a week. I do swing slow and my 7 iron is good for 150 yards.

    repeatedly saying that these clubs are for seniors stigmatizes them in the eyes of your viewers ... 90% of the players out there would see significantly lower scores and just have more fun if they would use these types of clubs ... but for some reason (pros saying they are for seniors or ladies maybe?) they don't even try them and instead chunk and thin bullet blades all over the course because they look good in the bag. Instead of trying to only limit swing speed, vary the strike ... the most beneficial thing about these clubs is when the strike is half an inch from the center, you still get 95% of ball speed and they stay relatively online. You (just like most people) completely miss out on how this could dramatically help anyone with a double digit handicap, regardless of their age.

      I am 5'6, and weigh right around 140 lb. I cannot get the swing speed or the power of my friends that I golf with. I am nowhere near a senior, and I use hybrid irons. It makes it more fun for me and the people I play with. These are fantastic irons for anyone that needs assistance like me.

    I have the Wilson launch pads in the KBS steel shafts, I'm 50 years old and have had 3 knee surgery's . i switched from my Nike frs irons about 2 months ago and cut at least 4 strokes off my game. i can say the Wilsons are loud when you hit it flush. Wilson never gets the love of the other brands. If you want to spend about 200 more for the Cleveland or Cobra feel free to spend that money. I hit all 3 at golf galaxy and found the wilson's actually felt better to me. i play at least 30 to 40 rounds a year.

      Yeah I tried them all too and went with the Wilsons and don't regret it. They are easy to hit, they hit high and straight and stop on the greens really well. The T-Rail was a close second though. I Didn't like the Clevelands.

    Playing T-rails (6-SW) since end of 2019 and absolutely the best irons I have used. The forgiveness and turf interaction are second to none and really shine in wet and tight conditions. Get fit with the right shaft and these are a game changer.

    These are not the only way to go my friends.
    I have a set of Lazrus hybrids, 2-PW,they are great when hit halfway good. I missed my irons and felt better with irons for scoring clubs 7 down.
    I recently switched to a Full set of Adams V3 clubs 2,3,4,5,6 traditional hybrids, more like a wood. The 7-GW are more like an iron, but also hybrid clubs.
    These are the clubs for me. At 65, I finally switched to a senior flex, even with my swing speed on the faster end for my age. I drive 250 and straight usually.

    Hi just watched your video testing Cobra, Cleveland and Wilson High launch clubs. I'm 68 years old 28 handicap, my swing speed is approximately 65 to 70 mph and play with Ping g25 which I've had for several years.
    I've been looking to replace them, I've tried out the Cobra T-rail 7 iron against my 7 g25, like you I had 10 shots with each club, i gained about 10 yds with the cobra and a tighter ball pattern. After watching your video, i will definitely be buying the cobra Irons. Keep up the good work.

Slowing your nice fluid swing to 70MPH is a far cry from our inability to get the club back very far and thus our 70 MPH will more than likely have a much lower Smash factor than yours but thanks for the video ...I'm 70 and looking for answers to losing yardage ...fast!

    If you want to simulate the swing of those of us looking at UGI clubs, you should test them by striking the ball a 1/4" left, 1/4" right, 1/4" high, 1/4" low and with the face open & closed by 5 or 10 degrees. If I could hit the ball in the sweet spot & square, I wouldn't need UGI clubs... 😛

I use the Mizuno 921 HotMetal Fli-Hi (hybrid style irons) all the way down to 7 iron ... transformed my game. a lot of people would benefit from these types of clubs, so the constant reference to seniors not only feels a bit condescending, but is narrow minded.

    I was fitted for the T-Rails was out of stock at the time, personally I liked the Cleveland HBs better and went with them. I struggled with hitting the Wilsons. Now after a year and a half my game is all messed up with being fitted for a Driver, Fairway wood, Hybrid, Irons, and Wedge set with 5 different shafts and various length and lie angle changes through out the set. I'm going back to what works best for me. A 13 piece set of all hybrid clubs 12°-61°. May not get the distance at the top end of without a driver and fairways but will have the consitsinty of the same shaft, also with loft, lie and length change through out the complete set. Should of never went away from all hybrid set.

      @MattWilliamsGolf  3 роки тому +5

      That’s awesome Alex. But many players of your age (and more often, older), generally have slightly less swing speed than you. It’s a damned if I do, damned if I don’t scenario. Because the request I was getting was from players with the swing speed I was trying to produce here. But sometimes when I test things with my normal speed, I get complaints that they don’t know how that translates to those that don’t have my swing speed. So, it’s just trying to appeal to everyone.

      I'm 50 and am about 105 mph with the driver ... I play a very similar club to these (Mizuno 921 Hot Metal Fli-Hi) down to 7 iron. very little ball speed drop off with off center hits and my last 3 rounds have been in the 70's ... these things are not just for seniors ... they are for anybody who gets better results with them, regardless of age.

    • @fontyyy
      @fontyyy 2 роки тому +3

      @@chipandputt totally, if the main reason you don't score better is miss hits (thins, fats, slices, hooks) then surely you just want the club that helps the most?
      Yeah, a 4 iron blade in your bag might look cool and make you feel good, but a 4 "iron" hybrid 180 yards long over 50' tall trees back onto the correct fairway after a waywood drive actually is cool and will have you scoring better.

    I'm disappointed in this comparison. Get an actual senior to perform the test. I bought the Wilson LP set and they are very good clubs. I'm 66 and only had these clubs a couple months. Hitting them between 65-70mph and getting much higher height then you were getting and much higher spin rate. Can't see this comparison as very useful to be honest. Great review Matt been waiting for this test for so long. The T rail I think looks the best , has a forged face and the rails plus a very good option on hybrid or hybrid irons. As a senior and 22 handicapper these are on my list. Played the Cleveland with great results although lost a little distance due to spin.
    My other options are Sim max2 O/S, T400, JPX 921 HM, and Callaway Bb21. I know from Golfdigest and here in the UK the only irons that get a five star rating for forgiveness are the hybrid irons, so my front runner. Price wise too along with the Mizuno. The others are very pricey four digits for seven irons.

      Thanks so much for the support and feedback Seve! I don’t know much about your swing or game. But if you’re considering ultra game improvement irons like the one in this video, allow me to narrow the choice of those other irons you mentioned. Of those, I would advise you narrow it to the Callaway Apex DCB and SiM2 Max OS. I definitely would rule out the Mizuno JPX921 HM (not because they are bad irons. They aren’t. They’re really great. But I don’t think they will provide the loft and distance help that a player might need when compared to these others). If you really want a hybrid type iron, then the Cobra T-Rail is the clear choice as I mentioned. You’ll have to check back later and let me know what you ended up getting!

    Great video for insight into hybrids Matt,
    I do like the idea of hitting good iron shots but I hit more consistently with hybrids and Woods. Also one of the manufacturers did a survey based on 10-18 handicappers and it revealed that those players were 12 per cent better off using hybrids than irons. Basically more 'Fat' shots were hit with irons in that handicap range. You've sold me on the Cobras Matt let's see what I buy when I have my fitting. Only thing not mentioned was regarding shafts , Graphte shafts available but what about Steel? Am I right in thinking those Hybrids only come with Graphite shafts? I am a senior player ( handicap 12) and I played a borrowed set of the Cleveland HB Launchers ( 5-GW) and scored an 80 round; impressive and so easy to hit well. I like the fact that they fly lower than the T-rails and spin plenty to stop quickly. I am not concerned about which club is longest, just which club caries a consistent distance. They give a tight draw shape, but you can fade them it you try to.

    Wondering what these would be like out of the rough? I'm guessing Cobra with more compact head? and rails might perform best. That's what concerns me about these big heads.

    Thanks for this review for a senior golfer reviews for these clubs is hard to fine. I have been playing for the last 5 years Cobra F-Max with a the offset clubs. Now my swing has changed after lessons as a senior (75) looking for a change in clubs. For got to ask where are you located?

    Hello Mat great review. Can you tell me if you notice any difference in Static and swing weight. I am 67 and suffer from hand issues, tendonitis and arthritis. Looking for a lighter set than my present Ping gmax irons with steel shafts.Playing WHS 9.4

    Stupid stupid stupid. Why is “ senior” the denominator??

    Wow. Just wow. The distaste for the whole thing is palpable. And wouldn't it have made sense to have a senior friend and so-so golfer hit the balls rather than a golf instructor? I have no idea if the observations are legitimate or just the result of cranking down your superior swing. I doubt your cranked down swing is the same as a senior's normal swing. Disappointed.

    Got to the end of the video, despite all the clicks and distortion on the sound track.

    I found a paragon r6000 #8 iron in a charity shop and paid 1 pound. I have since then established a set made up of this club and Tour Edge Bazooka and I am having great fun.

    People should stop calling these senior clubs. Most golfers would improve by playing these clubs.

    I find that people who review golf clubs put to much into how they sound and feel….all I’m interested in is how straight and how far they go..I could care less about sound and not so much about feel…👍🏼👍🏼

    When he says senior speed he must be speaking of around 78 or older.

    you make it sound like saying the word "seniors" is a cuss word. For pete's sake, golf is a game & clubs are TOOLS for that game whatever age or sex!

    These comments make me smile. So glad he got roasted with his incredibly ignorant assumptions regarding these clubs. My driver SS at 55 is 105 mph and I’m moving into some of these because my iron game is my weakness, whereas I hit my hybrids quite well. I play 20, 23 and 26 degree Mizuno Fli-hi hybrids and am going to bag the Launchpads in 30, 34, and 39 degrees. Can’t wait to be able to minimize the damage done by poor iron swings. 😊🏌️‍♂️⛳️
